Author has written 18 stories for Harry Potter. About time I updated this :-) Since I've already posted a couple of stories now I might as well give something of me away: Swiss, 60, single (I know - get a life!), live in the lovely area of Bern and love to read, crossstitch, sing in a choir and write. My top favourite pairings for the HP universe are Sirius and Remus (firm believer in 'The One True Way' here) and I actually despise all those rather improbable pairings. Let those who like them write and read them, I just disregard them. Pairings I think would come natural in canon are Harry and Hermione (because emotionally and intellectually they just fit together) and even though JKR denies them happiness together in canon I still stick to this pairing. If feels like JKR didn't know her own characters when she threw Hermione in Ron's corner. What a waste!! I strongly dislike Ron. I find him petty, petulant, self-centred, ignorant, downright nasty and closed-minded. Putting such a character together with someone like Hermione who's striving for political equality for minorities, who looks to learn as much as she can and who's caring and loving, who has a well educated and clear mind is like putting a fist right on the eye. Repeatedly. Don't know what Rowling thought when she did that. If she actually modelled Hermione around her own character back when she was that age she might have thought it good idea to project the worst premises for bad relationships onto the story. Since I really think Sirius and Remus are a couple I also strongly dislike anything containing the 'Dreaded Love Interest' for any of them. Well, JKR has gone and done the dreaded love thing for Remus. And she even kills him off as well. The whole "reunited in death" thing is really horrible and doesn't make sense to me at all, but then JKR claims to be a christian and I'm a confirmed atheist. I also don't believe in fate. She seems to strongly believe in fate and that fate is inescapable. She redeems a couple of 'evil' characters, but never allows it to the 'good' characters who have been vilified. I therefore declare that I don't like the three last books in the series. I solely read them to know how it ends, where she goes with the plot. At first I thought the idea of the Horcruxes was a good one, but the more I read the more it seemed to function solely so she could get to the end somehow. The technique of keeping the main character mostly in the dark and trying to place the donkey's tail on the right spot made me sick. Poor canon Harry Potter who is not allowed to know more than he absolutely needs. Poor manipulated and used and doubly or more abused child. Lousy writing drama for drama's sake! As a fanfiction reader I'll read anything long and well written. Very nitpicky when it comes to bad typing, bad grammar, bad style and try to improve mine whenever I can. I really like to read stories with a good plot; absolutely abhor violence and avoid it as much as possible. That all said, I don't read stories containing absurd ideas like putting together Harry with his tormentor of six years, Snape or other such downright nasty combinations. Hermione and Lucius Malfoy? Sorry? Even putting together Hermione and Draco is an absolutely horrid notion. As a writer of Harry Potter fanfictions I try to explore the wizarding world in its entirety. There's not only the war and JKR left a lot open to the fantasy of authors to invent. So my main story is actually taking place in peaceful times, when all the horrors lie in the past and our beloved characters can now reap the crop of their work during the dark times. Everyday life has its perils, too, and though they may be smaller and not cliffhanger worthy, they're still fun! Well, that's about it, if you like my stories, please review, I do love to know what you liked and disliked about them. |
