About Me: While I don't assume that anyone who finds themselves here has any interest in knowing about me as a person, I know that I myself get curious about the authors crafting the stories. So below is a little mini bio for anyone curious. If you don't want to read all that I don't blame you, so to sum it up in seventeen words: I'm just the INFJ sitting in the corner of the room. Go about your business as usual.

All in all I consider myself a pretty average fellow. I’m a geek (real surprise there when considering where we are now, right?) and an introverted one at that. My friends and family have no idea that I write and read fan fiction, save for possibly my fraternal twin brother. I chalk that one up to the rather inherent understanding we have of each other since we’re so alike. The only way I can describe it without getting into long-winded explanations is to say ‘it’s a twin thing’. If I’m writing fan fiction and suspecting he is, then in all likelihood he’s writing fan fiction and suspecting me of the same. Naturally, we will both be aware that the other is aware of this as well.

Of course we’re guys, so this will never be brought up or addressed. Instead we’ll go the rest of our lives with the assumption that the other knows. Or maybe that’s wishful thinking on my part. It’s much cooler sounding than the sad alternative, which is that absolutely no one actually knows/cares what I like to do in my free time.

As you might be able to tell, I don’t ignore possible truths just to spare myself the discomfort they can bring. I’m pretty thick skinned as a result.

Let’s see, what else…I’m pretty bad at accepting compliments, mostly because I don’t think I’m anything terribly special. That doesn’t stem from lack of self-confidence or anything of the sort, but rather from my dislike of people with overblown egos. I’m not saying that I don’t appreciate compliments when they do come, but generally I get all bashful and try to downplay whatever it was I was complimented on. If there’s one thing I’m actually proud of in regards to my writing, it’s my ability to think up (at least in my opinion) catchy story titles and summaries.

I hate politics. My mother’s side of the family is Republican while my father’s is Democrat. Growing up I heard both sides lambast the other, which has thoroughly convinced me that nobody has any idea what they hell they’re talking about.

I’m a horribly slow writer. I’m picky about every sentence I put down, so a simple paragraph will be rephrased and rewritten approximately seven times before I decide it’s acceptable. I apologize in advance for that. I usually try to update my profile periodically so that people know I haven’t just abandoned whatever stories I’m working on.

Pet Peeve: I have one giant one. Sadly, it is one that shows up in fan-fiction maddeningly often. We've all seen it before. Let's set up the stage.

There is Character A and Character B. They could be best friends, worst enemies, or even acquaintances. It doesn't matter what their relationship is. Suddenly, Character A finds himself/herself thinking some less than platonic thoughts about Character B. These thoughts cause said character to exclaim/think (and I quote) "Where did that come from?"

...No. Just no. When has anyone ever actually said/thought this? Never. Because people do not work that way—and even though characters are fictitious they should still adhere to certain realistic behaviors. I've been reading fan-fiction on this site for seven years. Out of all the fics that I've read, there has only been one time when something to this effect was used without making me want to tear my hair out, and that was because the writing was so exquisite that it was presented in such a way as to be somewhat believable. So to all of my fellow writers, please try to refrain from this. Please.

On Reviews: Brace yourselves folks, because what I'm about to say might be a shocker for some of you. Everyone buckled in? Booster seats strapped in firmly? Okay, here we go.

I would prefer you not leave reviews on my stories.

I'll let that sink in for a moment.

Now, let me clarify that a bit. When I say don't leave a review, I'm talking about what reviews have largely become: the three-to-seven word versions of "Great! Please update." I'm not saying that those aren't appreciated or wanted, but I would prefer they be sent to me in a Private Message. The only things that I would like to be put in a review are as follows:

1. Questions about the story (those that I can answer without giving away major spoilers)

2. Perceived inconsistencies, grammatical errors, plot holes, rabid mutant potatoes, etc.

3. A well thought out review that lists what you liked, why you liked it, and at least three non-internet sources backing you up. Okay, that was a joke (mostly). The line between a nice well thought out review and a three word blurb can be both subjective and hard to define, but let's go with this: if it took you less than fifteen seconds to write, it should probably be sent in a PM.

But, of course, we're all young adults/middle-aged/old people/children/teenagers here so the final decision is up to you. This is a request, not a demand. I'm not going to get mad or upset if every single one of you continues to send three word reviews.

The reason why I would prefer to get less reviews stems from a simple truth. The more reviews I get, and the more that people praise my work, the longer it takes for me to write. I'm a slow writer already, as I mentioned above. And I obsess over every paragraph I write down, as also mentioned above. But when I realize that I have hundreds of people waiting to see what happens next, I inevitably become even more picky because I don't want to let anyone's expectations down. My own standards are pretty high already, so when they go even higher I have a hard time reaching them. That's just the way I am, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
