You Probably Don't Care About: I like to think I am unique. This does not mean that I am senselessly random and hyper, because senseless randomness is the norm. I can be quite random if I feel like it, but random people tend to gravitate towards other random people, whereas I am pretty much a social leper. That leads me to believe that my brand of randomness is completely different from most other peoples'. I live by two philosophies: "Things happen. No one knows why." Readers of Terry Pratchett should recognize it. The other -- "It is better to have a question unanswered than an answer unquestioned," credited to myself. You name it, I've probably read it (though maybe not; I'm not very good with classics). Feel free to PM me if you want to talk books or have a recommendation; I'll read anything, any genre, although I shy away from Christian fantasy/sci fi. I'ono, something about the whole "This is a completely different planet, but the religion is Christianity even though it should be all rights be nothing Terran at all" throws me off. (Classic Christian lit is fine, though. Dante's Inferno is some good stuff.) Anime/Manga I Like, In No Order At All: Books I Like, Same: RE My Writing: I have a bad habit of starting stories and not finishing them. This is due to my overactive imagination. No sooner do I publish a first chapter than I come up with another idea for a story. So, I wind up with way too many first chapters... But I will eventually get around to finishing them. At some point. Possibly. Maybe. I dislike yaoi on general principle. I am not anti-gay-rights. I am, in fact, pro-gay-rights, being quite solidly on the genderqueer segment. Asexual panromantic, if you must know--but this is irrelevant. I do not have to read pornographic fics with virtually no plot about two characters who used to be perfectly decent, may or may not have any base at all (or a negative base, more often than not) on which to write a pairing, one or both of whom may be below the legal age of consent, and have no reason whatsoever to have suddenly decided that they're gay or are even obviously straight, and I choose not to. The feeling of wanting to scrub my brain with hot water, soap, bleach, a wire brush, and maybe some hydrochloric acid is not a pleasant one, hey? I have nothing at all against shonen ai or shoujo ai, so long as it makes sense. I do not ship. I refuse to believe that any fic with a certain pairing is awesome simply because of that pairing. On the other hand, I will not shove my favorite pairings down your throat. You don't have to like them to read my fics. (Many of them will include my favorite pairings, but... romance as a plot-driver? Nah. Romance is for subplots and side entertainment.) I write poetry. None of it is posted here. I write classical-style poetry, sometimes rhyming, sometimes not. Not emo poetry, I don't do emo. Mostly nature poetry, with the odd bit of whimsy. Nothing to Do with Anything "Everybody has a secret world inside them. All of the people in the whole world. I mean everybody. No matter how dull and boring they are on the outside, inside they've all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing worlds. Not just one world. Hundreds. Thousands, maybe." ~Neil Gaiman (Sandman) "In order to protect the equilibrium of the billions who will never understand my mission, I pledge to appear comprehensible to only a select group of sophisticated, enlightened individuals!" Under the wide and starry sky This be the verse you grave for me: Take me back, o hills I love Wash my feet in crystal streams The comma is a gentle creature, peaceful, with an unassuming presence and a cautious nature. It makes its home between clauses, in front of introductory phrases, between lists and near certain conjunctions, with smaller herds breaking off and living elsewhere. Its close relatives, the em dash, the colon and the semicolon, while rarer, are also larger and more distinctive, having similar tendencies and temperament. Fascinatingly enough, its closest biological equivalent, the period, which looks almost exactly like the comma, displays a far more aggressive personality and fierce pride, always making its territory clear and presence obvious. This is natural. Part of life. But the problems begin when bad fanfic authors take this innocent beast and misuse it. In most places in the world, the comma alternately suffers neglect and abuse at the hands of its owners. Yanked from its ancestral home and stuck into strange and unfamiliar territory, it does not know how to support itself and survive. While steps have been taken to preserve and cultivate these poor creatures, they prove largely ineffective due to public disinterest. Join the Purple Ribbon Foundation for the Preservation of Commas.
