Fitzwilliam Darcy is delayed until November for his 1812 trip to Rosings, so he has not seen or heard any news of the inhabitants of Hertfordshire for a year. He encounters something at Rosings that leaves him badly shaken, and starts him to a journey he could not have imagined.

Mary overhears Mr. Darcy talking about Lizzy at the Meryton assembly, and she decides to take matters into her own hands.

Elizabeth has turned Darcy down but he will not give up. Circumstances force a marriage but both parties are committed to winning this "battle of wills". Who will win when two very intelligent, very stubborn people match wits? HEA eventually!
