Author has written 3 stories for Alias, Charmed, and Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles. Updated 8/24/13 This Account: I have been a member of this site since 2003 (I was 11) and have been a frequent reader but inconsistent writer. I strayed off the site for a few years and neglected my account for a while, but I would say I'm (at best) a veteran reader and mediocre author. My writing has improved drastically since my first attempts. This account was previously known by quite a few different names based on various obsessions. I was originally known as TKPiper and at the time was a Co-Author at the Kandie_Spirit_Dragon account which is actually still up right now with the same fics. (If you remember Pure Innocence (Charmed), and Clueless (HP), I collaborated and was one of the shameless self insert OCs...) I'll be the first to admit that those fics are badly written OOC self inserts but keep in mind, me and my friends were only 12 at the time and they are not meant to be taken seriously AT ALL. Later, I was known as Clana_Obsessed dedicated to a short Smallville obsession that was more of a shipper obsession than anything. Finally I've settled with my current ambivalent alias triggercini which happens to be my gamertag on XBL and it has become my regular "internet name." I doubt I'll ever write a piece of fan fiction again, but I still read a lot depending on what fandom i'm obsessed with at any given time. This is partly because i'm lazy and partly do to my lack of creative writing talent and imagination. I can write a great essay sure, but when it comes to full on stories I just don't have the talent. There really are some talented writers on this site and i'm willing to wade through all the muck to find the gems. In my experience, i'd say 95% of fics that I browse through are not worthy of being read or do not meet my criteria. I'm usually against the norm when it comes to ships for fandoms with a few exceptions. Either way, I still think fan fiction CAN be more than just ramblings and rantings of fans. Sometimes reading a fic is just a nice way to have a story go the way you wanted it to or expand canon to further your enjoyment of a series. Those are the fics that are worth reading and the reason why I will always love reading fan fics no matter how nerdy or geeky it may be. WORDS OF ADVICE TO READERS: For those of you who are like me and want to find a fic you like in a relatively short amount of time... 1) USE THE FILTERS! Yeah this is obvious, but I feel like a lot of people neglect this. I usually like looking for long fics (over 10,000) that are complete. If you want to be more specific, I'd add the character you want it to be about. 2) Skim by word count, review count, chapter count, AND summary! Yes it's not all about review count. For example, if I see a story that has about 10,000 words but has over 20 chapters, that implies that each update is very short which in turn implies a writer that is A) Lazy or B) Is inexperienced and can't write a decent sized chapters. Obviously this doesn't apply to all stories, this method isn't fool proof as it's more about speed. Review count isn't everything. Ships rule EVERYTHING in fandoms and you can bet that a lot of reviews are attributed to ships alone. A summary even tells more than just the plot, it can show how professional and good a writer is. Spelling, sentence structure, and all of that can be gleaned from those few sentences. 3) IF Previous skim matches your criteria, READ REVIEWS For those that don't like spoilers it'd be wise to skip this part, but I find it's better to be spoiled a little on some things to know if the story you're thinking of reading won't be something you like. 4) Skim the first chapter This is pretty simple, if you skim the first chapter and it's littered with spelling and grammatical errors, chances are it's not gonna be that great. Another thing to look out for is bad format. A truly good writer would not have bad format in their work. If it passes, proceed to read! Yay! ABOUT ME: My name's Emily. I'm 21 years old and I'm a huge geek and nerd. I'm a huge gamer and somewhat of a tomboy (although my girly side has come out as I've grown older). I love kicking ass in COD on Xbox Live, but also enjoy games like Final Fantasy and Mass Effect. Video games have been a constant in my life and something I always return to. Ultimately my goal is to get into the video game industry in some way. CURRENTLY: I have been accepted into Cal State Long Beach and I will be studying Graphic Design! WRITING: There is little to no chance I will write fan fiction again. REVIEWS: I like to leave encouraging reviews, so if I really like a story I'l leave one. Otherwise, i'm more of a silent reader. If I decided to follow your story, that's my silent approval and I guarantee i'll read your story as long as you update it. Current Entertainment Obsessions: Recently got into Fate/Stay Night which is rather strange since I don't particularly like most anime. Fate Zero also came out not to long ago and i'm enjoying watching it immensely although I read the FZ novels so I know what's going to happen. I always liked Avatar: The Last Airbender and I'm excited for The Legend of Korra. I was never a crazy super fan of ATLA, but i'm starting to get into it more since I have practically nothing to watch now and the new show looks really awesome already. I remember watching ATLA starting when I was a preteen so I was around the age group it was intended for when I originally saw it, but I didn't see every single episode when it was airing on Nick. Current Video Gaming: I have such a backlog when it comes to games! I play a decent amount of COD: Black Ops II online. I got into the COD craze rather late, and I still find it a fun (if frustrating) multiplayer experience. I play a little Halo 4, but only with friends. Otherwise I'm up to playing any kind of single player game. I'm not into the whole "COD hating" thing. YES I enjoy playing it. Does it mean that is all I play and I think it's the greatest game ever? Hell no. Basically, I think of it like Madden. It's rehashed every year, but it's fun to play. It's like the popcorn movie of games. Basically, COD hater snobs can go stick it up their butts. Just let people play games they enjoy. STORY PROGRESS Prophecy: PERMANANT HIATUS. (Current update: Chapter 1) Extreme lack of interest in the fandom to continue. 100 Ways to Kill Lauren Reed: PERMANENT HIATUS (Current update: Chapter 3) Lack of interest has stopped me from writing this story. There's really no point in going on with it. Canceled: FINISHED. Obsessions/Favorite Fandoms,Characters Etc.: Avatar: The Last Airbender: I only read stories with Azula as the main character. I grew up with this show, but I was not crazed about it when it first aired until... Legend of Korra: I have actually gotten into this show more so than the original, probably because I identify with the main character better. Screw the haters, this is an awesome show! It only has 12 episodes at the moment, you have to give it room to grow. Stoked that this show will be getting 3 more seasons and I'm really excited to see how much more awesome it will get with more time and a slower pace. Alias: I loved this show growing up, I still haven't really seen it past Season 2 other than the ending, but now that it's all on Netflix I should really try rewatching it at some point. Claymore: Probably the 1st anime series I can see I really loved. Claymore is kinda like a more mature DBZ with less testosterone. Still has plenty of fighting, but that's not what it's about. The story and characters in this series really makes it great. Honestly I used to think the action scenes were pretty decent but after watching something like Fate Zero or even the original Fate/Stay Night, Claymore's fight scenes really devolves into a bunch of speed lines... If I was gonna try and to introduce a non-anime fan to something it'd be Claymore, if only for the story of Teresa and Clare , it really was the most touching aspect of this show/manga. Firefly/Serenity: Still remains as my favorite TV show and Movie of all time. Everything about this show makes me love it. From the characters to the atmosphere to the music to the actors... I'd be lying if I said Firefly/Serenity didn't shape part of who I am today. I have a I feeling I would be a very different person now if I never saw Serenity those 5 years ago. The story of it's cancellation and return is both epic and inspirational, the fandom is the most passionate of any i've ever seen and the story of this series just touches you in a way nothing else can. What makes this show a sci-fi legend is the characters first and foremost. I love EVERY character and actor on this show. Anybody could see a bit of themselves in these characters whether it be Mal, Zoe, Wash, Book, Jayne, Kaylee, Simon, River, or Inara. I immediately became attached to River's character. She remains as my favorite fictional character as all time and Summer Glau remains as my favorite actress of all time. It's hard to say what makes me and other Browncoats so passionate about Firefly/Serenity, you just have to experience it to understand. All that really needs to be said is that I LOVE this show. NOTHING could ever replace it. Gilmore Girls: This show is hilarious. I still have a soft spot for it, however i lost interest midway through season 4. Harry Potter: What can I say? I'm one of the people that grew up with Harry Potter. This series will always have a special place in my heart just as it does with many people my age. Hunger Games: I had only read the first book when the first movie came out. I wasn't sure what to expect, other than there was so much hype going into it. And damn did it blow my mind. EVERY issue I had with the HP movies was non existent in this adaptation. It was a near perfect (if PG-13) representation of the book and I LOVED IT. Loved it so much that I have since then devoured the second two books in a matter of a day (and have reread them twice) and become a bigger THG fan than HP fan. I'll be the first to say The Hunger Games Trilogy is hardly Shakespearean, but it's just so incredibly relevant to my age group and society today that the story just resonates with me. Katniss Everdeen is arguably the best female character to emerge in young adult fan fiction in ages, and even if you didn't love the movie, I feel like it was a giant leap forward for movies with female action leads. The movie truly stood for something. It made up for all that Twilight screwed up and gave a us an awesome, strong, heroine that could be looked up to be anyone! Ahem, maybe i'm romanticizing a bit much... I know a lot of people are split on Mockingjay, but I have to say it's my favorite book in the series. I feel that everything wraps together so well, and It's the perfect ending to a somber story. Again, this is another "screw the haters!" thing. I love this series to death. Yes the love triangle can't be a bit frustrating sometimes, but it is really kept on the back burner for 90% of the story. Sure the premise isn't necessarily ORIGINAL, but it is a TWIST on what has been done! After all, what is original anymore? So SCREW the Battle Royale snobs, this series is awesome too. Please get over yourselves. Fate/Stay Night Series: Another anime I actually like? What's this? Well even though the original series may seem old and and a little outdated in it's anime conventions now, this series just has something special about it despite the not so original plot set up... Ok, really, I just love this series because of Saber, she's awesome. Definitely my favorite anime character. Other than that the story is actually quite solid with a lot of great characters. Fate Zero shows a more mature progression of this and probably the best animation I've ever seen in an episodic anime. The only thing that stinks about this series is the harem nonsense, but hey Final Fantasy: Ahh, where to begin? Final Fantasy X is the very reason I became a gamer. Considering how huge of a gamer I am today, that's saying something. My favorites are: 1) Final Fantasy VIII AND Final Fantasy XIII 2) Final Fantasy X Funny how all my favorites are the ones that get hated on the most... XIII out of those is the most hated, but it feel like it's just severely underrated. Honestly, I blame the XIII haters for XIII-2 turning out to be such a jumbled non linear mess! I'm very hopeful for Lightning Returns, I guess we'll see. After all, she's the reason I love FF XIII so much, maybe she can end the series with a bang. Mass Effect: Certainly my favorite sci fi based video game. No matter what anyone feels about the ending, I have come to grips with it and I understand now that it wasn't right for any of us to ask someone to change the ending of their creation. I think it's an important lesson. If you want video games to be treated as art, you can't ask for things like that! Would you ask an artist to change their creation for your benefit? Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: I really love this show. I got into it mainly because Summer Glau was going to be in it, but I really got to loving the show itself as well. I came to enjoy the franchise as a whole through this show, but my love for it only goes as far as T:SCC. RIP, this was truly a fantastic and underrated show. Favorite Pairings (Although really, I prefer PLOT over romance): Alias: Sydney/Vaughn ATLA/LOK: Korra/Bolin, Korra/Mako (Don't really care, but I find Korra/Amon or Tarrlock to be very off putting.) Fate/Stay Night Series: Shirou/Saber Final Fantasy X: Tidus/Yuna Final Fantasy VIII: Squall/Rinoa Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning/NOBODY Firefly/Serenity: All canon. Non graphic Mal/River, Jayne/River is ok. Harry Potter: Harry/Hermione Hunger Games: Katniss/Peeta Terminator: SCC: John/Cameron CLOSING STATEMENT: Well, if you actually read all my ramblings, thank you for your time! And if you read any of my fics thank you for you time as well :D. |
