That was heartbreaking! And I liked how Simon used dinosaurs to snap River out of it, and make her believe that he is real Simon, not a lookalike.

I'm a new convert to Firefly and I just found this. I absolutely adore how you captured River's experience and tie it up with that one episode from her childhood with Simon. Wonderful story.

Good story - fits in nicely after Serenity - shows why perhaps Mal kept here aboard.

I liked this story. Initially when River was referring to the not-Simon it sounded like Capgras dallusion, when people believe that their lovedones or others have been replaced by look-a-likes. Then you explained about the test situation and the fact that she had seen not-Simons before and I made sense of it. I see that you have many other stories about River but it looks as though she is no longer touched in the wits in said stories so they wouldn't be of interest to me. You are a clever writer though and thus they are probably well-done.

Wow, that's all I have to say. Wow. This fic is great. Intense and we get an almost real sense of what the Academy did to River. Beautifully done.
