![]() Author has written 29 stories for Misc. Anime/Manga, Saber Marionette J, Evangelion, Serial Experiments Lain, Haruhi Suzumiya series, and William Gibson. Note well: Common problems people have with my fics are: Things that may be a problem with my fics, but that nobody has really complained about yet as far as I can remember: If any of these things bother you, avoid my fics. Some of these things may improve over time, but I can't guarantee that they will, nor can I guarantee that I'll make an effort at changing them in all cases. NOTE Specifically for readers of NEON GENESIS EVANGELION: THE GREAT BEAST: This fic is experimental. It is nonlinear. The backstory is a good four thousand years long. Part of the point of the style is to tell a story that would be impossible to tell in a linear or near-linear form. The downside (or upside?) of this is that the largest chunk of the plot will not be understandable until all the threads are tied together at the end. The other downside (upside?) is that there will be a hell of a lot of layers of references, both obscure and otherwise, and you will probably have to do some research to understand. Do not go into this expecting your average fanfiction, or if you do, don't be angry at me for not delivering on the WAFF or angst. I cannot say that TMT has characters as such -- like the novels of PKD, the characters are automatons like us, caught in a net of circumstances that animates them, and perhaps by seeing the strings they no longer seem so free. This is agency: hiding the strings from yourself. I will add a list of links soon that may help people figure out what is going on in the chapters thus far. Some may be NSFW. The moral of the story is, if you can't handle the great beast, don't take it on. Also, NB: I'm not a thelemite, and this is not a work of love for Al Crowley, nor do I want to brainwash my readers with this fic; my intent will become obvious about the time that the plot does. Some of the apparent problems with this fic are planned, others are due to my faults in terms of not being a particularly skilled writer. Many are both, and some are just temporary errors that I may fix once I have the groundwork done. The lack of characterization is by design, but also because I'm not particularly good at characterization. The non-linearity is on purpose, partly because all my linear stories end up majorly lacking. Fragmentation and reference density are on purpose. Some of the characters act OOC because they need to for the plot, some act OOC because I'm bad at writing them in character, some act OOC because their personality changed due to an event I haven't covered yet, and some act OOC because your view of their character is different from mine. So it goes. Stories: Eva: The Great Beast - The culmination of a lot of time trying to think of a way to merge eva with modern thelema. Currently the best shot for reading something likely to be continued. NB: I'm currently struggling with this fic to balance out the linear and nonlinear aspects. Lots of people who started out liking the linearity of the first few chapters complained about how confusing the following chapters were. This is probably because the chapters themselves are out of linear order, or because the sections within the chapters are out of the linear order of the chapter as a whole. I make lots of use of flashbacks, flash forwards, and segments that may or may not be dreams. Rest assured that in time, this fic will make sense. I do have an overarching plan for this fic, which is not the case with all of my other fics. Eva: Neon Armageddon Dysangelion - A dark-comic post-3i dreamscape. Really weird. May not be updated. Eva: Reservation Tokyo3 - Shinji stays with Spider Jerusalem. Changes in the show ensue. Unfortunately, probably won't be continued unless I manage to get a hold of a personal copy of Transmetropolitan. Eva: Babylon Rising- A more or less rewrite attempt at what Neon Cognogenesis Omega was supposed to be, but with less computer tech (thus far). Also much wierder, and with the mythological basis stuck in much earlier. The mythos backstory and look&feel are similar to Evangelion Datenroku (Eva Academy for you English Speakers -- that wierd fantasy spinoff manga Gainax has been siphoning cash into recently). May not be continued. Harusu: The Infection of Nagato Yuki- a pretty decent attempt at discordianizing Yuki, and explaining the "source" of Haruhi's powers and irrationality. Not bad for my first attempt at writing as Kyon. Not likely to be updated in the forseeable future. Harusu: The Love of Cold Machines- a YukiKyon poem from Kyon's POV, but generalizable. Harusu: More Human than Human- a vignette oneshot from Yuki's POV, about her feelings for Kyon. It is very obvious that it's Yuki's POV, because the text that isn't in prolog is mostly terse, oblique, dense sentences of the type that Yuki would be thinking. Oneshot. Eva: Network Gene Evangelion- basically an Eva/Blame crossover. It ended up not having much potential, so don't bother. Eva: After the Machine Stops- a freeverse poem/vignette from Ritsuko's POV about the MAGI giving up on her. Makes references to various things, including E.M. Forester's "The Machine Stops" Eva: Imprisoned in Ice- a oneshot character study of Shinji and Rei, starring Bob, everyone's favorite deboinare disembodied skull. Oneshot. Eva: 6 Words, Many Ways- in light of the practice of 6-word short stories, I summarized eva in 6 words from various points of view. Mostly funny. Lain: Alternate Layers- a bunch of postmodern-style Lain-themed poems. If you expect to read these and know what they're about without doing some major googling, you're kidding yourself. On the other hand, the same is true of Lain. In Progress. Very delayed. Eva: The Instant Omega- the result of feeding chapters 1-10 of Neon Cognogenesis Omega into a markov chain program (which takes the statistically most frequent word sequences in a document and follows them, iterating into less frequent sequences over time). The result is absolute gibberish that seems to make sense if you try hard enough. Someone commented: "I think you figured out how some of the fics on this site are 'written'." Complete. Eva: Neon Haiku Evangelion- a couple Eva-themed haiku. Not great. Complete. Eva: Hitomi- a rather nice poem about Shinji's thoughts during instrumentality, with a focus on identity and the difference between Rei II and Rei III. Complete. Eva: Shinji's Panache- an attempt at taking the Cyrano de Bergerac plotline and transplanting Eva characters into it, in a GoS2/Angelic Days type setting. Very WAFF. Kaworu is very OOC (being not gay, into Rei, and inarticulate... on second thought, I probably should have used Touji instead or something). In Progress. Probably won't be updated for a while (nor the bolding problem fixed), since I have other stuff to do. Eva: Neon Genesis Kallisti- a random parody of Eva, in which Nerv is a Discordian organization, Gendou is a disturbingly friendly hippie, SEELE is the Illuminati, and Rei is... well, I guess you'll have to read it for that part. While I'm not typically a big fan of parodies, this is actually borderline-AU; it's more like transplanting elements of RAW novels, and much of the humour (especially in later chapters) actually comes from the characters playing off each other in an attempt at humour. Note: some explicit content makes me wonder if it should be rated M. In Progress. Probably won't be continued any time soon. Eva:Neon Cognogenesis Omega- an attempt at a wierd idea I had, combining my personal view of a more scientifically valid implementation of the Instrumentality with the general plot and characters of Evangelion. ShinjiRei. In Progress. Since this was written over such a long period, the quality of chapters varies and the continuity is very screwed up. It's a good read, but it jumps up in quality around chapter 6 or 7, after which it increases in quality more quickly. I'm disinclined to continue because nobody seems to be actually reading the whole thing. Eva:This Object- an attempt at describing Rei's perfect world during the Instrumentality, in which she realizes that she is a person, not simply an object, and that she doesn't need an ultimate purpose to live her life. ShinjiRei. In Progresss. Will not update in the forseeable future. Eva:ShinjiRei Fanfic- a short, rather OOCrappy (though fun) fic set in Shinji's perfect world. No longer being worked on. DS:Code Monkey- a fannovel to go with an anime script my friend is writing (which I am producing). The script is bordering on 100 pages atm, but the novel is definitely not as far. You probably won't get the full effect, as you probably haven't read the original, but you can read it if you like and treat it as an original fiction (even though it's not). DS:In His Shoes- another fic to the script above, but a lot crappier. A self-insert. A bad one, might I add. Don't bother reading it. SMJ:Program: Start- another crappy fic. An SMJ self-insert, except reversed. Lime comes into our world. Don't bother reading this either.
