AU Avatar the Last Airbender fic

Parings: Maiaang, Zutara, Sukka, and some assorted minor ones

My grandmother tells stories of a time of peace. A time in which the Avatar kept peace between the Water Tribes, Earth Kingdom, Fire Nation, and Air Nomads.

This all came to an end one hundred years ago, when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop the ruthless Fire Nation.

According to legend, the Avatar did fight back, and the Air Nomads were saved from destruction. Three years later, he disappeared, along with whatever hope had existed.

Now, the Fire Nation is nearing victory, the Air Nomads are dead, the Southern Water Tribe is shattered, and the Earth Kingdom is slowly being encroached upon.The men of my tribe have left their homes in an attempt to strike back back. I have been left here, as I am not yet old enough to partake in their battles, and what remains of our once proud village needs to be defended, even if it is just me out here.

No one knows for sure what happened to the Avatar. I like to think that he died, because otherwise, he’s just been ignoring us while my tribe has slowly been picked off by the ambitions of the Fire Nation.

My little sister still has not given up hope. She likes to think that one day the Avatar will return, and save the war-torn nations from the Fire Nation.

I say that our problems need to be solved, Avatar, or no Avatar.
