My Three Main Rules for Avoiding Really Bad Fanfic

1) If your summary contains misspelled words, incorrect punctuation or improper capitalization, I will not read your fic.

2) If anywhere in your summary I see the phrases 'I suck at summaries' or 'It's better than it sounds so just read it' or any variation of either, I will not read your fic.

3) If in any part of your fic (summary, story, or author's note) you state that you will not continue to write unless you get reviews I will immediately close the window and mentally file you under 'Authors whose writings are juvenile, manipulative and/or not worth my time.'

Does that seem a bit harsh? I feel like it's at least a little harsh. I was once asked how I was able to find good fic amongst the oceans of drivel that make up the majority of and this is my answer. Also, when it comes to shipping I like to think of it the way I think of diabetes. There is no such thing as pre-ship or 'if you squint.' It either is or it isn't. Please, just be honest with the warnings and tags of your fic so that people can deal with it accordingly.

As for my own writing, it happens slowly when and if it happens at all. Take from that what you will.
