Author has written 7 stories for Sherlock, and Merlin. “Fan Fiction isn’t copying – it’s a celebration. One long party, from the first capital letter to the last period!” - A Hobbit, One of our Thursdays is missing, page 294, written by Jasper Fforde. So many people give Fanfiction so much crap. They don't understand. It's is a way of flexing your writing muscles with characters you love. You can make them do exactly what you've always wanted them to do. You can take all of those ideas that you've had -- "If only [insert character name here] had said this," Or "what if _ learnt that _ was _" -- and run with them. You can share your love and ideas with the world, with people who love the same things, and think the same things as you. What's not to love? And what wrong with that? :D o--O--o My picture? That's a Kakapo. My absolute favourite bird on the face of the planet. I want to help save them. I WILL help to save them. The bird that's so stupid, that not only has it forgotten how to fly, it has forgotten that it has forgotten how to fly. o--O--o ANYWAY... About me. - AGE: Older than 15. Younger than 30. - GENDER: female. Tomboy. - IDEAL CAREER: Ranger on Codfish Island. It will happen one day! SAVE THE KAKAPO! - RANDOM FACTS: - have never had any sort of romantic realtionship. Yes, I'm * years old, and still... - I am therefore totally undecided on sexual orientation. STILL UNDECIDED... God, I need to get my act together. - But I am totally against homophobia. - I am obsessed with the Hobbit - TOTALLY obsessed with SHERLOCK BBC... There is only one television program that even begins to come close to competing with Sherlock (almost) and that's Jekyll. Never seen it? Go on, go online and buy the dvd, watch them all. Such a great show.Highly underrated in my opinion. But slightly gory. Don't focus on that. Ignore the goryness (I don't think that's a word) and watch for the awesomeness. And James Nesbitt - Wow. That's all I can say. WOW! He is so brilliant! But Sherlock isn't the only thing I'm head over heels obsessed with. Here it is, the one thing (person) that I am more obssessed with than I am with Sherlock... Da da da da! DOUGLAS ADAMS Yeah, just thought I'd mention that. I love Douglas Adams so much. SO SO MUCH. Every book. Every article. Every interview. Every lecture. sigh* ANYWAY. My favourite Sherlock quote? It's actually from the books. Read the Hound of the Baskervilles. Read it. And when you've finished, go back to the bit where he firsts meet Dr Mortimer. Mortimer began fussing over his skull, and then he says this: "A cast of your skull, sir, at least until the original is available, would be a gift to any anthropological museum. It is not my intention to be fulsome, but I confess, I covet your skull." I love that quote. But seriously. One (for there are too many to choose from to single out an absolute favourite) of my favourite Sherlock BBC quotes is also responsible for a proud moment of my life. Two guys were sitting behind me in class. They were talking about football, and one guy said to the other, "Well, it's not my fault. I thought you said, like, punch me in the face." To which I respond predictably, turning around and intruding with "I always hear 'punch me in the face' when you're talking, but it's usually subtext." Needless to say, they didn't get it. But I was very proud of that. Just out of curiosity: Is there anyone else out there who annoys the hell out of all of the fans who haven't read the books (shame on them) by constantly referring to the cabbie in A Study in Pink as Jefferson Hope? Or is it just me? Take this moment to say: I love the books. LOVE. Now... favourite things. Entertainment wise... -Douglas Adams -Sherlock -Merlin -Jekyll - Hobbit -Blackadder -Sherlock - Hobbit -M*A*S*H -Jekyll -Merlin -The Three Stooges (Nyuk nyuk nyuk) - Hobbit -Douglas Adams -Jekyll -Sherlock -Downton Abbey -Merlin -Sherlock -Hobbit -Douglas Adams. And did I mention Sherlock, Merlin, Douglas Adams and the Hobbit? Oh yes, I did. GOOD. Favourite books. In order. -Last Chance to See (Douglas Adams) -The Lost World (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) -The Hobbit (Tolkien) -The Long Dark Tea-time of the Soul (Douglas Adams) - Sense and Sensibility (Jane Austen) -And, of coure, the Sherlock Holmes Canon (Sir Arthur Conan Doyle) - Shades of Grey (Written by Jasper Fforde.) Do you have any idea how many people assume I mean the erotica 50 Shades of Grey? Dude, I'm talking about the post apocaliptic humorous amazing book. Ha. Favourite Quotes (Other than those already mentioned) God, there are too many to choose from. My personal favourite at the moment is from the Thursday Next series: "I didn't know you had a gold-plated toilet!" "We don't have a gold-plated toilet." "Really? Well then, I think I just peed in your tuba." And I'm overly obsessed with a whole host of Hobbit quotes: "What's this?" "I don't know. I think it's supposed to be cheese. It's gone blue." "It's riddled with mould." *tosses 'cheese' over shoulder* AND "KILI! SHOOT THEM!" But you have to say it right, or it doesn't work. SAY IT LIKE THORIN! I absolutely love the moment when Thorin says "Or do we take this chance to take back Erebor?" Why? because I'm convinced he then yells "RHUBARB, RHUBARB!" I will not get over that. Favourite movie: Don't even need a list. THE HOBBIT (an Unexpected Journey). No competition. I would watch it day in, day out, and never get bored. Well, I might get bored. I'm not sure. But I'd like to have the chance to find out! It will probably be toppled by the next film. I'll have to have a list then. Oh well, it is truely amazing. So many reviewers gave it crap, I mean, for heaven's sake, it's based on a KID'S BOOK. How can you expect a 'mature adult' to find it good? You have to be childish in some way to love it. AND I AM CHILDISH. It is a cinematic MASTERPIECE! Bless PJ and all those involved. You guys are amazing. Now I must get around to writing a Hobbit fic... Probably won't happen. Oh well. Warning, rant below* I think I'm going to hate the third instalment. I seriously think I will hate it. I mean, I will love it, and I'll be so amazingly excited to see it, but man I will cry and scream and - It's not even the fact that *certain characters whose names shall not be mentioned here in connection to their death* die, but that whole business with the Arkenstone - I mean, the bromance between Thorin and Bilbo is brilliant. It'd have to be, it's been turned into a fanfiction romance. And Thorin is going to Hate him. It's going to be horrible. He's going to HATE HIM. I sincerely hope I'm wrong, but the Thorin/Bilbo bromance is going to crumble to pieces. I'm going to cry, I know I will. Okay, rant over* Favourite Dwarf? Good god, I have no idea. You just have to love Bofur, so he's up there. Thorin is tremendously awesome and majestic, he's definately up there. I really like Balin, so he's up there to. Filli and Killi - yup, you guessed it. So lets say my absolute favourite dwarves are Bofur and Thorin, because if I list my faourite, it'll be all thirteen, with Dain thrown in to boot. Even though he isn't really met in the book. I always liked him anyway. Fact that made me laugh: Stephen Fry is going to be the Master of Laketown. That is so brilliant. I don't know why I find that so funny, but I do. I love him! BAAH! NOTE to Bagginsheilders: Guess what? I have joined your ranks! Well, not passionately. I still mostly prefer bromance. But yes, I SHIP! (movie!verse) NOTE to Durincesters: Right. I would not have come up with that one. But hey, why not? I'll read them, and love them! NOTE to all other forms of company slashers: Wow. okay, don't get all of them, but some of them are so amazing! NOTE to all who write little filli and killi and Uncle Thorin stories: I love you. Seriously. NOTE to anyone who's actually gotten this far into my Hobbit profile section: Thanks, it's almost over. Have a virtual piece of Lembas. Yum. And Just quickly, I thought I'd write this down. Lyrics from BOOM! (System of a Down) 4000 hungry children leave us per hour, Boom, boom, boom, boom, Why must we kill our own kind..? I couldn't have put it better myself. The motto I live by:
It doesn't necessarily do it in a chronological order, though. Happy living, and may your writing bring you purpose in life. I know it brings me purpose in mine! So long, and thanks for all the fish. -JC |
