![]() Author has written 13 stories for Merlin, Doctor Who, Stargate: SG-1, and Captain America. Hi, my name is ForIHaveOvercomeTheWorld, (but you probably already know that,) and welcome to my profile! Firstly I want to explain my name. I do not consider myself invicible nor have I deluded myself into believing I own the world. The opposite, in fact. I am a christian and therefore my name comes from one of my favorite verses. John 16:33 says: "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world." Now I realize that it doesn't actually say the word "for" but for the life of me I can never seem to remember that. Plus I kinda think it sounds better that way. More dramatic. And as anyone who has ever met me can tell you, I like being dramatic. I love this verse because it reminds me exactly why I love my God, (part of why anyway.) No matter what troubles, or misery, or heartache this world throws our way He is stronger, so very much stronger. He has overcome it all. I had another awesome name I wanted to use but I decided on this one because I want to dedicate everything to my Savior and best friend Jesus. Everything I read, or write, and the effect everything I write has on any readers I put all in His hands. 'Cause everything would go to rot in my hands (: I do not wish to offend anyone with my beliefs or what I write. Now, there are some things in fanfiction that I simply won't do. I don't do crack, it's just not something that I like, though, I am a big fan of humor. I do not do "death" or "dark" fics because they make me depressed. I have a death fic I plan on writing, but I may even end up having it be a dream, 'cause normally sad is not what I do. I will not read or write slash of any kind, for several reasons. The first of them being that I am uncomfortable with the topic. While I am a supporter of gay relationships, I simply am not very comfortable with it. I also believe that in almost every situation the slash ship is not canon in anyway and I try to stick to canon as much as possible. As much as you can in fanfiction, that is. I also try never to write or read anything that is sexually innopropriate, for it is not something I want to expose myself to. I am a big fan of kissing and such, but much more than that bothers me. I also have a problem with bad language, but not too big of a problem. I will not tolerate the "f" word, and I really don't approve of any swear word that takes God's name in vain. But I will read some bad language and will probably write some myself because I try to write what I think is natural for certain characters in certain situations. I am a huge fan of whump and the subsequent bromance, so obviously I have very little problem with violence or close male friendships. As long as they stay friendships. In fact I think I actually prefer the bromance to the whump, if I had to chose one or the other I would chose bromance. Because, honestly, whump by itself really isn't all that great, only when you combine it with bromance does it truely become magical. I just really like it when one person get's hurt and the other becomes concerned and cares for him. Hence my photo, it's of Frodo and Sam from LOTR, I believe it's they who got me hooked on the bromance and the whump. Have you seen all the bad things that happen to Frodo in those movies? It just never stops! And then of course Sam is the faithful and loyal friend who takes care of him and is really very concerned. Growing up watching those movies, I believe, has given me a love for bromance and whump, and I shall ever be grateful. I LOVE Lord of the Rings, my whole family does, and, therefore, it shall always have a very special place in my heart. Ships! The ships I will read or write. In no particular order: 1: Merlin/Freya from TV show Merlin 2: Arthur/Gwen from TV show Merlin 3: Doctor/Rose Tyler from TV show Doctor Who 4: Daniel Jackson/Vala Mal Doran from TV show Stargate:SG1 5: Shawn Spencer/Juliet O'Hara from TV show Psych 6: Chuck/Sarah from TV show Chuck, (although, I haven't really found any good ones.) 7: Tony/Ziva from TV show NCIS 8: Amy Pond/Rory Williams from the TV show Doctor Who And basically any canon ship from anyone of my fav movies, like Princess Bride, or Tangled, or LOTR. But I have a lot of movies that I love, so I shall not name them all. And any canon ship from any of my fav books is fine too, though I don't know if I'll write them since I think it's harder to find a place for fanfics in books than in tv shows. Things I love. First and foremost I love God. I love my family. I love Doctor Who, Stargate:SG1, Sherlock, Supernatural, Smallville, Harry Potter, Community, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Chuck, The Hunger Games, Sanctuary, Merlin of course (just look at which fandom I chose to write for first,) Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog, Dollhouse, or basically anything Joss Whedon, I love X-Men First Class; the main two guys are so hot, Willy Wonka and the Choclate Factory, Princess Bride, Gilmore Girls, I'm a decent fan of Twilight, please don't hate me for it, I mean, at the very least it's written well. I love a lot of things and therefore will not be able to write them all down. Also, this list isn't in any particular order, except for the first two. I may have a problem with puncuation, but I think my spelling for the most part will be okay. ABOUT ME! I am a christian. My worst nightmare is being without God, a life like that is too horrible for me to think about. I love fantasy and science fiction massively. Like everyone else in this world I haven't had a really easy life, but I believe that some of my experiences allow me a deeper understanding of the way trauma manifests itself in people. I have a love for the depressing but have been depressed and therefore do not want to subject myself to sad things. So that is why I don't really do death fics. You have no need to know my age but I will tell you that I am not yet old enough to drive. Anything. Seriously, I can't even drive a car in a racing video game, though, that could be because I suck at video games. But just because I'm young don't think me stupid or entirely ignorant, I have spent far too much time alone with my thoughts and am therefore a deep person. My favorite color is blue. I grew up on Doctor Who, Lord of the Rings, Princess Bride, and The Prince of Egypt, so if you diss them then I will be forever distrusting of you. I have a huge love for bromance and can never get enough. I love pratically all things fuzzy, like animals and even blankets. I am dramatic and I have a love of really dramatic things and phrases. I am a geek, (or nerd, depending on your interpretation,) so expect me to love geeky things and to not be ashamed of them. Joss Whedon is one of the best writers in the world and I will not accept any argument of that fact. I am a girl, (I probably should have put that near the top of the list,) so expect me to write a bit like one. I have read and watched a lot of things which have remarkably talented writing and therefore have trouble reading anything that is not because my brain no longer seems hardwired for that. No offense meant to anyone, it's just how my mind works and I don't mean to say that anything of yours sucks, I'm simply really picky. Favorite Songs Right Now: SeparateWays (Worlds Apart) by Journey, Hurricane by 30 seconds to Mars, Prelude 12/21 by AFI, It Ends Tonight by All-American Rejects, Carry On My Wayward Son by Kansas, Wheel in the Sky by Journey. Okay, I have some ideas for stories but I don't know which idea to follow first. So, for anyone reading past this point I hope on having a poll up soon so that you can vote, otherwise you ca just PM me. I do ask, though, that you don't take any of my ideas; I think that a lot of these are rather unique and I plan on writing them all at some point. I don't care if any of these inspire you to write, but just please don't steal any of them. Also none of these will be slash. Anyway here they are: Why You Don't Mess With Merlin: This one will be told from the point of view of some guards and it's about the relationship between Arthur and Merlin. Some of the guards will object to Merlin's rudeness to the prince. There will be Merlin whump, banter, bromance, concerned and protective Arthur, and several guards who have a lot of respect for our favorite warlock and know not to mess with him. Probably will be about five chapters, may consider a short sequel. The Banker May Be Blind But John Watson Isn't: This one is a Sherlock fic. John Watson remembers that Sherlock was nearly strangled to death and goes into doctor-mode. Sherlock is obsinate, and we may just find out why John corrected him when he said "friend." Bromance, probably a oneshot. The "Arthur Sees" series: This will be a collection of oneshots, all submitted seperate to each other, all with one theme in mind. That Arthur sees or overhears something about Merlin that he never knew before. Probably won't include reveal, at least not for a little while. I have several ideas for this: one of them will have Merlin and Gwaine talking late at night on a hunting trip and Arthur overhears but they don't know he's awake. Both of the knights will find out the reason for Merlin's dislike of hunting, but what will Arthur do with the knowledge? I have other ideas for this series but this is the most formed one. Gathering Clouds of Things to Come: This is the sequel to Hidden Secrets and Painful Revelations. Dark and foreboding storm clouds are seen in the distance. When it becomes apparent that they are of magical origin Uther sends Arthur and the knights, (which of course means Merlin too,) to find the powerful magical item that will soon cause Camelot's destruction. But the question is whether the item is acting of its own accord or if someone told it to attack Camelot? Is set in the third series and may include Gwaine. Will have bromance, Merlin whump, near reveal of something other than Merlin's magic, and Merlin as royalty. Don't worry, it's not a royalty fic, Merlin just has to pretend for a while. Unlike the rest of the sequels I have planned I don't actually know much of what I'm going to do with this one since I haven't planned much of it out. But if you want me to write it then I'll get to work on it. Now That The Anger is Gone What Are you Going to Do?: Working title. Merlin may have killed Nimueh but that doesn't mean he's out of the woods. She hit him with a nasty fireball that Gaius only learns about after Merlin collapses. Aftermath of Merlin whump, bit of bromance, confused Arthur, angry and lecturing Gaius, confession from Merlin and much more! Won't be very long, probably nomore than a few chapters, maybe it will even be a oneshot. The prequels to "I Really Hate That Word.": I don't actually have names for these yet, but there will be two of them. One: will be with Merlin getting really sick and not telling anyone. And the reason he is sick is something that puts everyone to shame; he's been overworked. Guilty Gaius and Arthur, sick Merlin, so sorta whump, bromance, though, not as much as the first story in this series that I wrote because Arthur is still trying to convince himself that he doesn't care about a servant. Two: will have Merlin giving his life for Arthur's and the prince asking someone with magic to save his friend. Will have magic reveal, bromance, and will not be a death-fic. The Reflection of Your Life Seen By Your King's Eyes: Working title. Merlin gets hurt while protecting Arthur and therefore cannot fight off the dark magic that is taking ahold of him. Yes "ahold" is a word. The only way to save him from being overcome by his worst memories is for Arthur to link minds with him and try to convince him to fight. But can Arthur do it? Will he do it and by doing so let some druids cast a spell on him? The only way to save Merlin is with magic, but will Arthur break his father's rules? And if he does and finds out about Merlin's magic in his memories then what will he do? Will have whump, probably reveal, bromance, a look into Merlin's past that we've never seen before. And, if you guy's want, I could even make this the second prequel to "I Really Hate That Word." It would sorta fit. This would make it a rather long story, but I kind of like the idea. Can You Beat The Game?: Merlin is captured and Arthur is told that he must go on a quest to save him, but the quest is more like a game that a group of sorcerers have set up. Arthur will have to face all kinds of monsters and difficulties in order to get to where they're keeping Merlin. But will he survive the game? Will Merlin survive what they have in-store for him when they realize that he has magic? Will our favorite warlock be able to escape and help his prince fight off the magical evils that are attacking him? Will Arthur discover his servant's greatest secret and they destiny that they share? Considerable whump, bromance, possible Gwaine, possible reveal, and a great possiblilty of a fun read, (not that others before this weren't.) To Fulfill a Prophecy Or Lose It All: Arthur is king. A strange man comes to talk to him one day; to tell him a story. The Story of The Once and Future King and Emrys. But also a story of a terrible creature that the two must face. He tells Arthur that if he wants to save his people he'll have to find Emrys and together they must fight this ultimate evil. Only the two of them will be able to defeat it. Will Merlin come forward and tell Arthur that he is Emrys? Will Arthur figure out that it is him? Will they stop the evil or will all of Albion fall into darkness? I may end up merging this story with another, maybe. Evil's Poison: Psych fanfic. A couple of years ago Shawn had a pretty simple case. It was poison and he figured out who did it relatively easy. But now the man he put away has escaped and is coming for revenge in a slightly "Yin, Yang" style. He starts out by killing people with different poisons and trys to get Shawn to play his game. But soon he starts to poison them slowly so that Shawn has enough time to save them if he's quick and figures out the poison. But it isn't long before our beloved psychic realizes that the cost of saving innocent lives just may be his own. Plenty of physical and emotional whump. Probably will contain some torture. May even do a sequel if I can figure out a more long term bad guy. No slash, more bromance than you will know what to do with. Set after the fifth season. INSPIRATIONAL QUOTES: Warning, some may be quite depressing, but I like them anyway. "The last pages are for you, Sam." Frodo, LOTR "And you are forgiven, always and completely forgiven."The Doctor, Doctor Who: the Wedding of River Song "He is the Bringer of Death, and so shall he name himself."Sister Verna, Stone of Tears "It's possible, pig."Wesley, Princess Bride "Why would I want to destroy this stunning thing? Beautiful, in a trillion different ways. The last perfect handiwork of God."Lucifer-possessed Sam, Supernatural: The End "It's okay, Dean, it's gonna be okay. Who knew, right?"Flynn or Eugene, Tangled "You already destroyed my first home. I won't let you take this one."Clark Kent, Smallville: Salvation "Every day you wake up it's the same bloody question that haunts you. 'Is today the day I day?'...Death is on your heels, baby, and sooner or later it's gonna catch you. Part of you..wants it, not only to stop the fear and uncertainty, but because you're just a little bit in love with it...Death is your art. You make it with your hands day after day. That final gasp, that look of peace, and part of you is desperate to know...what's it like? Where does it leave you? Now you see, that's the secret. Not the punch she didn't throw or the kick she didn't land. She merely wanted it...every Slayer..has a death wish..even you...The only reason you've lasted as long as you have is you've got ties to the world. Your mum, your brat-kid-sister. The Scoobies. They all tie you here. But you're just putting off the inevitable...sooner or later you're gonna want it. And the second, the second that happens you know I'll be there. I'll slip in. Have myself a real good day...Here endth the lesson. I just wonder if you'll like it as much as she did."Spike, Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Fool For Love "Rule one: the Doctor lies."Doctor Who, several episodes and several different people "Is it possible that there are no coincidences?"Graham Hess, Signs "Try, try for some remorse."Harry Potter, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows "The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice-versa, the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant. And we definitely added to his pile of good things."The Doctor, Doctor Who: Vincent and the Doctor Xander: "Why blood? Why Dawn's blood? I mean, why couldn't it be, like, a lymph ritual?" So, my thought is that I never would've started writing Fanfiction if it weren't for some of he AMAZING stories I've read. I like to think of myself as a empath or a sort of pack-rat. I absorb peoples' habits and mannerisims, and even their writing styles. So if I read high quality fanfiction then I am more likely to have better quality myself. So I believe that it is only fair to not only promote those that have inspired me, but also to show you all where a lot of my skill comes from. Aside from God, that is. So here are some of my favorite authors in no particular order, (except the first one, she's the best.) And remember, these are the people whose works I ABSOLUTELY believe you should read. Emachinescat: She is by far the best fanfiction writer I've ever come across. She is unbelievably skilled! She writes a lot of Merlin and does plenty of whump and beautiful bromance. She is like the queen of good whump and bromance. She doesn't do slash, but does do some crack and drabble. My favorite of hers is Ransoming Emrys and is well worth the read to probably anyone who likes my stories. I'm just dying for her to write some more. Captain Ozone: If possible I love his/hers work even more than Emachinescat's and that's saying something. All of the Captain's work is written very very and has so much perfect bromance. Loopstagirl: She has done some Merlin and is quite good at it. My fav is Turning Back. She had written some other good ones as well, and I was just on her profile and I realized that I need to read more of her stories. And I hope she continues writing them. llLethell: Has written all Merlin and has amazing stories. Almost all of them include some sort of Merlin whump, (yay!). She has written some oneshots and twoshots that make me want to die with bromance-happiness. And her long-story The king's Legacy is one of my all-time favorites and I just keep going back to reread it. She said that she might do a sequel for that one, and, personally, I CAN'T wait. In fact, some of her stories were the first I read in the Merlin fandom and let me tell you, hey made a wonderful first-impression. WhiteKingdomAngel: If I have to choose I would say that she is my second favorite author. Though, I don't like choosing, it's not really fair since everyone has different ideas and are of different ages and such. But some of he things she's written just send shivers down my spine when I think about them. Many of her stories really should be in the actual shows. Let me tell you she is seriously skilled. You have to read some of her stuff. |
