![]() Author has written 3 stories for Naruto, Kenichi the Mightiest Disciple, and League of Legends. INTRODUCTION Hey guys, I'm ChickenGodofDoom. Don't ask me how I got the name, because it's a long story and I'm not sure I remember anyway. One of the two. Or maybe both. Anyway. I live in Australia (and was born and raised), and therefore use Australian/British English predominantly- it was how I was taught. (am being taught) A word of warning: I noticed as of lately that my stories are generally very slow developers and my plot pacing and general storyline planning is piss-poor, but I unfortunately don't see that changing anytime in the near future. If you're fine with that, then by all means go ahead and read on, and enjoy. If you're not fine with that... well, then you're at liberty to not read it at all, or flame, or ignore it, or whatever. But consider yourself warned, and your displeasure is by no means my fault. That is assuming the fact that you are to read this profile before you read my stories... huh. On second thoughts, nobody does that, so this is just me rambling 'cause I dunno what else to put in my profile XD. Have a good day, and I do hope you enjoy my stories. -ChickenGodofDoom ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS Huge thanks to my beta reader and close friend, MisterKuma, without whom my stories would be complete shit (not saying that they're not). Sources: Author profile picture: 'Fire and Ice' by ANARKYMAN (Andrew Dobell) 'Splitting Leaves, Flying Shadows': Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto 'Remnant': Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto, History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi by Syun Matsuena 'Legend Reviving': Naruto by Masashi Kishimoto, League of Legends by Riot Games THOUGHTS 'Splitting Leaves, Flying Shadows': Represents my first foray into fanfiction and thus holds a lot of sentimental value. I've made a lot of mistakes writing this, which is okay, because I can hopefully avoid the same or similar mistakes further on, or on other stories. But because of these mistakes in the early chapters, this will never be my best fic, or porbably even be considered a 'good' story. I was aiming at writing a plot that differed (at least in the beginning) from the original manga, simply because it's been rehashed and re-imagined so many times on this site already (many of those times done really amazingly, too). Of course, I was planning to merge the two after a period of time, but a combination of poor planning and overall inexperience resulted in some disappointing chapters. I've no doubt turned off a lot of readers with those under-par chapters, especially because the Naruto fanbase has such a huge readership and the sheer enormous range and selection of the stories available on this site (with quite a number of masterpieces among them). This fic will likely never rise above mediocre. I've accepted this, but I doubt I will quit writing it or prematurely cut it off, in part out of respect for the quite respectable number of readers who have 'favourited' or 'followed' it or bothered to leave a kind or constructive review, and also partly because I want to give any future readers a sense of security that I will not easily abandon any of my stories, no matter the circumstances. Hopefully I will manage to do this clumsy piece justice in the end, and give it a story and ending to be proud of in the end, ultimately achieving some kind of late-game fulfillment. As of 2016, I have regrettably reneged on my prior resolution to continue writing this story. I know it's terrible of me, and I apologise profusely. But the thing is, the story has gotten so difficult to write that I have begun to feel that writing it is more of an ordeal than a hobby. I have begun, while writing the next chapter, to dread what used to be an enjoyable activity, and instead wish for it to be over with, so I could write the next chapter of my other stories. The story has spiralled out of my control, and unfortunately, I felt it was in my best interest to put the beast down rather than letting it live a tortured existence at my own expense. 'Remnant': Easily my most popular story so far, 'Remnant' represents my first real taste of success. While the reception of 'Splitting Leaves, Flying Shadows' has been quite good as well (I really am not complaining) and probably only ever reached lukewarm at worst, Remnant has by far smashed it out of the water in terms of popularity, even though it is 10 chapters (roughly 5000 X 10= 50,000 words) shorter. I'm sure a large factor of this is that any crossover fandom will be tiny compared to the vast sea that is Naruto fanfiction, and so will naturally receive more attention by virtue of less competition, but still, it is nice to sit with my iPad during a boring university lecture and just scroll through the wonderful reviews and positive energy that comes from readers enjoying my work. For this story, it's the one that will follow the original work's plotline the closest. Hopefully I will continue to live up to expectations as I go, and write what will ultimately be an entertaining and satisfying read. 'Legend Reviving': League of Legends has been my favourite game for years now, ever since I started playing seriously with my friends. I've spent countless hours on it, and probably have spent more money on it than I care to think about it. As with anything that you have a passion for, I naturally developed a love of all things League and so eagerly devoured the lore and the Journal of Justice when it was out. It was very interesting, but you don't play the game for the lore of its characters. The lore isn't defined, and the world of Runeterra isn't very well explored in any media. So, keeping in mind that excessive world-building was something criticised in 'Splitting Leaves, Flying Shadows', and to a lesser extent in 'Remnant', I decided to give writing a crossover with Naruto a shot. I did this because anything mixed with Naruto gives a massive boost in readership, as well as Naruto being one of my favourite manga to boot, having spent much of my high school life trawling the fanfiction archives for interesting stories to enjoy. Also, League naturally- as non-linear as it is- has no protagonist, and while it's not impossible, writing a good story without a main protagonist is really difficult and requires a lot of skill- skill I don't believe I possess at the moment. So, the way I saw it, League has no protagonist, no existing plot. All it has are diverse and interesting characters, a vibrant and ever expanding world and its elements, and a large and passionate fanbase. With this story I'm writing, I can finally use that world-building that I love doing, and construct something in the empty space that Riot purposely left. Like I said, there is no real plot to adhere to, so I'm at liberty to do anything I please. With 'Legend Reviving', I am probably going to base it around the characters that make League of Legends what it is, and keep the actual plot progression rather slow. This is probably going to not be to some readers' tastes, and if things get too slow, I do have some ideas to speed things up. But whatever happens, hopefully this will follow in its predecessor's steps, and become something that is received well, and becomes a hit. The reception so far has been warm, and there have been many encouragements, so I will do my best to not let you down. GENERAL NOTICE: Oh yeah, and if you've noticed a drop in quality or increase in number of glaring plot holes, it is because as of the latter half of 2013, I have refrained from asking MisterKuma to beta-read my chapters. This is not in any shape or form an expression of dissatisfaction with his services or a criticism to his ability as a beta-reader (on the contrary, I could not express accurately enough the sheer depth of gratitude that I feel towards him, because his critiques are almost always on point and very relevant), but merely a personal concern. The bulk of our Year 12 exams will hit us in 2014, and a couple at the end of 2013, so, being the great and awesome friend (/completely modest XD) that I am, I don't really want to disrupt his studies and potentially affect his final exams. So... yeah. Unbeta'd. It's all me, baby~ NOTICE: I'll clarify this in my stories, but my crossover stories will most likely feature one protagonist entering and fully interacting with the world of another. There will be very little, if at all, appearance from characters from the first world, and for the most part will remained centered in the plot and elements of the second series. Also, if there is a main protagonist in the second storyline, I will most likely write as if he never existed, and the inserted protagonist will replace him almost fully. My justification for this is if I am writing only a single world with a singular set of villains and characters, there is only room for one protagonist. If there were two, then it would complicate matters, as there would need to be two parallel courses of character development, and two pairs of relationships, dynamics, emotions, personality and thoughts to keep track of. And personally, I don't think I'm skilled enough of an author to do something like that in a manner that would be enjoyable to read. TIMELINE NOTICE (8/05/13): Sorry about the inactivity guys, especially those readers of Remnant- I've been neglecting you quite badly :( . If you don't know what's happening and is thinking, 'What the fuck's taking him so long to update?', then I'll take some time to enlighten you now. I've explained it all in a short note at the end of Splitting Leaves, Flying Shadows, but basically, I'm taking time now to rewrite/rework it. I'm not very happy with how it started, so I'm going to be working on fixing it so it's a little cleaner and more flowing. But it's going to take a while. As in... a loooooong time. To top it off, school has also been increasing the workload, and I'm scrambling to get stuff submitted in on time. But I think I've earned a little reprieve for now, as I've mostly cleared one wave of work. But never fear- I'll get it done eventually, for sure. And I'm not even rewriting the story all from scratch- I'm much too lazy for that! Quite a few chapters will be kept intact, but I'm completely scrapping one or two, so I'll need to write more to compensate. I don't foresee an end to this rewrite in the next month or two, really. Actually, who knows? Maybe. Keep your fingers crossed. As for you Remnant readers, I am really truly sorry, but you're my second priority until I finish this rework. I've got three completed chapters sitting on my USB, but I'm loathe to release them while I've got work for Splitting Leaves, Flying Shadows still to complete. I might release one as a sort of placation, but that's only when I've reached a point where I'm satisfied with Splitting Leaves, Flying Shadows. NOTICE (22/09/13): I'm starting to update Splitting Leaves, Flying Shadows, and replacing old chapters with new ones. I'm by no means done with the rewrite (I've got about two chapters to go) but I think it would be better if I integrated the two versions gradually instead of piling it all on in one enormous update. So the story's going to be slightly disjointed until I've finished the process. NOTICE (19/10/13): Hey guys, despite what I posted earlier, I'm afraid we've hit an unfortunate roadblock. I only managed to post the first two chapters of the rewrite (not that there were any notable changes lol) and am unable to post anymore/write new content for a while because I have an exam in about a week. So I've been tied up studying, and my beta-reader MisterKuma is also studying, so stuff's gonna be on hold for a while while we get our shit together. Sorry about that, all. The exam (official Year 12 exam) is on the 31/10, and then I have a break of about two weeks until the less important exams arrive. Whether I write in those two weeks depends on how pressured I feel about the year 11 exams, so at the latest you can expect me to resume writing at the end of November. If I've caused you an inconvenience/disappointment, I sincerely apologise. NOTICE (16/12/13): Whoa, exams/school is over. Sorry about the massive delay- I kinda underestimated the time that school (in its dying stages) can occupy. But the rewrite for Splitting Leaves, Flying Shadows is almost complete! I've finished uploading most of the rewritten chapters, although I'm not sure that you'll get notifications because I just 'updated' the chapters instead of uploading a new one. On to the good news? I'm on holidays now, so I can write much more frequently! Hooray! Oh yeah, Remnant will get a new chapter once Splitting Leaves, Flying Shadows is back on its feet. ;P NOTICE (4/1/14): God, it feels strange to write '14' in my dates. Anyway, Happy New Year everyone. Just writing to say that the rewrite of Splitting Leaves, Flying Shadows is finished, and so anyone who chances by should read the whole thing over (if you can be bothered). SO! Everything is back on track, and next chapter to come out will most likely be Remnant Chapter 4. Hope you guys enjoy. NOTICE (9/3/14): Hey guys, just giving you guys a heads-up about the 'inactivity'. Truth is, school is getting hectic, what with SACs and tests and projects and whatnot jumping out from every corner. I write when I can, but please understand that's its a very busy period for me at the moment. Thank you, and sorry. NOTICE (13/9/14): Sup. As you probably know, I live in Australia. and if you don't, you do now. What you probably don't know is that I'm in Year 12 at the moment, and our exams are right around the corner, in a month or two. (Our school year starts in January and goes til December by the way). This means I most likely won't be updating until the whole affair is over, so be prepared. NOTICE (/18/10/14): It's almost crunch-time for exams, so I've got to take the little hiatus I keep mentioning. I've left off each story on a tidy twenty and ten chapters respectively, so just stay tuned and be patient please. I hope to have made up the difference in the chapters I pre-released and get back to live-releasing by the New Year as a hopeful estimate. NOTICE (2/1/15): Happy New Year, guys! It's me. Exams are finally, and results have been out for a while. I'm done with high school and am going to be heading to uni this year. Unfortunately, I haven't made my estimate of updating by the New Year a reality and am in fact quite behind in terms of chapters. I'm very sorry, but I went interstate to visit relatives over the Christmas break, and that impacted my ability to write a little. Again, very sorry, but I'll do my best to get the next chapters out soon! NOTICE (22/2/15): Hey guys, how's it hanging? I just released the first chapter of my new fic, Legend Reviving- a crossover between Naruto and League of Legends. You may have noticed that I released merely a week after my last update of Remnant, which is, for me, unusually fast. The reason for this was that I decided to reduce the amount of 'buffer chapters' I wrote before release. Previously, before I released Chapter 4, for example, I would have Chapters 5, 6 and 7 all completed, for the sake of proofreading and continuity. However, I decided that with the advent of a third focal point, three chapters extra for each was kind of overkill. I had 9 unreleased chapters just sitting on my USB, lol! So I'm reducing it to 2 for the time being. So the next few updates (1 for each story most likely) will come out rather quickly, and then releases will slow down again, probably rather severely as I am starting university next week. So take care all, and I hope you continue to enjoy my writing! NOTICE (12/4/15): I'm very sorry if the time between updates are getting longer; university hours are much longer than high school ones, and I'm getting home much more tired than before. I also usually write before bed, and the quality of my writing usually depends on my state of mind. I'll try to keep things moving though. I think I'll go for a guarantee of two weeks maximum between each singular update, which'll add up to six weeks per story story, at worst. Hopefully I'll be able to update much faster than this though. And again, I'll try and keep quality high, but I don't have a beta reader at the moment, so that's a bit iffy. Anyways, hopefully everyone stays well- until next time, I'm out. NOTICE (4/6/15): Really really sorry about the hiatus- university exams and assignments are really heaping on- if you guys need a date, then exams finish for me on the 23rd of June. After that I should be able to get back to updating. Again, sorry for the wait and thanks for understanding. NOTICE (19/11/15): End of year exams have just finished and I should be updating within the week. NOTICE (12/1/16): A big reason why I could not update very often was because I was bogged down writing a new chapter for Splitting Leaves, Flying Shadows, a task which I was finding to be very difficult. After fretting about it for weeks, I have decided to discontinue writing it. It's not an easy decision, and I'm sorry for those fans who liked it, but I think its for the best. The updates should come quicker now that I'm only actively writing two fics. NOTICE (23/1/16): I've updated my stories quite recently, and some of you are probably quite surprised at that, knowing of my usual slow updating rate. I haven't magically gotten faster- I've just uploaded two chapters I had in advance. The reason I did this is because I'm actually going overseas to Japan for a month or so for a holiday, so I won't be able to update while I'm there. And even when I get back, I'll need to write up a new chapter, so ETA for more chapters is probably about 2 months at an optimistic estimate, give or take. NOTICE (25/8/16): I'm sorry for the hiatus without notice, guys. I had a difficult semester for university, and couldn't afford to keep writing. However, I think I'm alright for now, and have started writing again. I'm updated Remnant recently, and Legend's Reviving's update should be up tonight (after 5 months!). Again, my sincerest apologies. NOTICE (19/1/17): Just popping in to say I'm going to take a short break from writing Remnant. I need some time to refamiliarise myself with the source manga (History's Greatest Disciple). Also, I must admit I'm having a lot of fun writing Legend Reviving at the moment, and I'd like to at least continue to get the ball rolling on that one. Sorry Remnant fans, hopefully I'll be seeing you in not too long! -ChickenGodofDoom |
