HARRY POTTER FANFICTION Pairings: Generally I will read anything as long as it is written well with a plot and strong characters (cough not my stories cough), with very few exceptions. I do have favorites for different story types. Generally on time-travel fics I prefer RLGW, and Hermione with any one of the Marauders (minus Pettigrew). In any story, I have trouble stomaching HermionexSnape...just doesn't seem right without timetravel, unless it is VERY well-written. Perhaps I will have a URL up for such a story in the foreseeable future. I will read slash fics, depending on the quality and reality of the pairing/story. Draco/Harry has recently become a semi-favorite of mine. I have recently become a huge fan of DracoxHermione...dunno why. I still love HarryxGinny and RonxHermione and HarryxHermione, but I read all of it...actually, pretty much anything... I do enjoy Severitus fics, so if anyone knows a really good COMPLETED Severitus fic, I would LOVE it if you would PM or email me the URL. I'm big on RLOC and SBOC...been writing some of my own lately, hopefully to post it soon. I think I will do it momentarily... Anyway, I'll read anything that is good. Except for SnapexHarry. Have officially chosen my OTP: Draco/Hermione--in my ridiculously incomprehensible AU. Book Preferences, HP: Generally I like to pretend HBP does not exist, as it totally wrecked my premise for some of my stories. So most, if not all, of my stories are Pre-HBP even if written after it was published, as most of them are. DH WAS AWESOME!! I would like to explore Neville's and George's and Luna's lives after the defeat of Voldemort (and other secondary characters), as we are in the dark about what happened to them, in a way. I read what JK said, but I still think Neville and Luna should have hooked up =P. No one listens to me... but DH made up for HBP two times over. OTHER FANDOMS: Star Trek: 2009 (surprisingly enough to me) Supernatural NCIS ...a lot of other interests, but nothing I can write even remotely convincingly. Quotes: Neal: You look as bad as I feel.Where's the sunny smile? The 'Oh, Neal, isn't it a wonderful day to be alive in the royal palace' pain-in-the-bum greeting I usually get? Kel: (considers shoving her porridge in his face but decides against it) I don't know. Why don't you go looking for it? Neal: Ouch. It bites. --First Test, Tamora Pierce Mariel: ...Don't worry, I'll find it myself. Simeon: As the blind squirrel said, reaching for a cloud. Mariel: What does that mean, that I'm stupid? --Mariel of Redwall, Brain Jacques Harry: Wait a minute, I've got two Neptunes here. That can't be right, can it? Ron: (in mystical voice) Ah, Harry, when there are two Neptunes in the sky, it is a sure sign that a midget in glasses is being born... Harry, Dean, and Seamus: (crack up laughing) --Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, J.K. Rowling Vladimir: The two thieves. One was saved, the other... (searches for word) damned! Estragon: Saved? From what? Vladimir: Hell. Estragon: I'm going. (no one moves) --"Waiting for Godot", Samuel Beckett Someone was actually shooting at me. Christ on a bike, I thought irritably, why not just blindfold me and set my clothes on fire too? --Only Forward, Michael Marshall Smith (as the main character attempts to break in to what is essentially a secure facility) “If we were to wake up some morning and find that everyone was the same race, creed and colour, we would find some other cause for prejudice by noon.” --George Aiken (stolen from rianess's story A New Friend) "Friendship is born at the moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too! Thought I was the only one.'' --Clive Staples Lewis (also stolen from rianess's story A New Friend) "Stress is waking up, screaming, and realizing you weren't asleep." Unknown. (Stolen from Sarcastic Romantic's profile, in turn stolen from someone else's profile.) "Never meddle in the affairs of dragons, for you are crunchy and taste good with ketchup." Anonymous. "Nobody comes, nobody goes, it's awful!" Samuel Beckett, "Waiting For Godot" (and ain't it the truth. Never read WfG.) BREAK (since the thing won't work) I do not know whether or not to do personal review responses mailed to reviewer as I have been doing lately or post them on my profile/story. If someone could please email me and tell me the best way to do it, I would be most appreciative. By the way, I'm still waiting. Does no one visit this thing?? Why do I even bother writing it then?? (sigh) oh well, life goes on. Ob-la-di-bla-da...Too Much BEATLES!! GRRR! Sorry about that. I'm only slightly insane. BREAK This is the part of the Profile where LysPotter kowtows to the other FAR superior authors. BE FOREWARNED!! From now on (17-05-2007) I will endeavor to regularly add a new amazingly awesome story by a new author. The links will be found in my Favorite Stories list. 17-05-2007: LysPotter has just read Survivor, by atruwriter, and there is nothing I recommend more. 4 chapters, wonderful language and dare I say it, Inspiration with a capital I. It is categorized "Romance/Tragedy" and is a bit--okay, a lot--of a tearjerker. It is the sweetest, most truthful, accepting, amazing story I have ever read. It deals with major character death and some pretty big issues, but it is a gorgeous piece of writing and a wonderful portrayal of a character I can never write. I reccomend it to everyone and ANYONE who can stomach tragedy--and those who can't. It'll help get a cry off your chest, or at least make you sniffle like it made me sniffle. 17-06-2007: LysPotter is in the progress of reading Looking for Magic, by Hypnobarb. Quite simply, it is amazing. It is one of the first stories I read with a SSHG pairing that I actually like. It's amazing! It's categorized "Romance/Angst". However, there is some humor as well. It's a great hodge-podge of everything that's good in fanfiction. Mostly in first person. Includes letter-type-communication chapters. READ! 31-07-2007: LysPotter is a major fan of the whole Dangerverse, by whydoyouneedtoknow. Some of the inspiration for Parents from the Playground evolved from reading Dangerverse. Hard to explain. Categorized Drama/Humor. Current installment (yrs 5,6,7, I believe) is Facing Danger. The series (centered around theme of Danger) are as follows: Living with Danger (pre-Hogwarts), Living without Danger (years 1 and 2), Dealing with Danger (years 3 and 4), and Facing Danger (which is currently dealing with 5th year). READ. All of them. |
