Author has written 20 stories for Beauty and the Beast, Batman the Animated Series, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, and Kuroshitsuji. "Everyone has a story. No one's just a background, a sidekick, a piece of furniture in someone else's castle of life. It's just sometimes we don't look too closely, we don't try hard enough to see it. One can miss a lot by doing so, because the most precious things are difficult to see." May Wormwood's A Test of Time. For over a decade, the world wide web has known me as LumBabsFan. I've appeared as FaithAK, or some variation thereof, sutcliff1799, and more recently, feathergoddess. Both of the latter due to tumblr. But to the outside world, I'm still just known as Faith. I'm a former Jersey girl, now currently residing somewhere in the Arizona desert. I adore theatre, anime, manga, video games...you know, all those things that used to shock my friends' kids when they discovered I was both a girl and grown-up at that. I'm the director/editor/mixer/partial-writer of an online voice-acting troupe called 3DF Productions. Google us, we're the first link that comes up, since this lovely site forbids URLs. But writing will always be a great passion of mine. I ventured into the fan-fiction genre when I was 11. Hidden in old notebooks are tales based on Clue and The Scarlet Pimpernel. But my writing-true-love was Disney's Beauty and the Beast. Thing is, you're not going to find stories of Belle and her Beastly prince here at my page. My stories focus on two characters that have held the title of "Favorites!" since I was knee high: Lumiere and Babette. (Hence my proudly earned screen name. I'm still considering a patent on it, as I can be found most everywhere online by that persona. XD) Although, over the years, I've wandered into some new fandoms, including Batman, Ace Attorney/Gyakuten Saiban, and Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji. Pairings I Support... For those curious, I do my fair share of shipping. The following list are ones that you'll find in my writing. You may ask me about writing for others, but I guarantee nothing. There's a reason I ship the pairings I do, and while I'm up for challenges, I take my writing seriously. If I can't feel that I can make it work, I won't do it. Lumiere/Babette (BatB) - This was, and shall forever be, my signature ship. I take pride in being one of few fan-authors who have put as much love and care into writing for them as I have, hence why I've never changed my screen name. Disney is never going to give us anything more, and I'm sorry, but the one time they did, they messed the characters up terribly. Stories with this pairing: the majority of my work. I have two separate "universes" with them, but I prefer my later stories, dubbed "The Romance Series." (Order: Les Fleurettes, Questionable Romance, Prelude, and Delicate Condition) The Joker/Harley Quinn (Batman) - These two are my villainous coupling, and as horrific and frightening as their relationship is, it's complex, intriguing and flat out fun to write. I've been a fan of the Joker since I was a kid, and Harley, what's not to love? (Not bad for a little girl who was once terrified of clowns.) My work on them isn't much, but all of it is dedicated to my dear friend, Jason "LordJazor" Marnocha, the best Joker a lady could ever hope to play off of. It wouldn't have been possible without him. Stories with this pairing: One Sentence and Mercy's Hold Miles Edgeworth/Franziska von Karma (Gyakuten Saiban) - This is unfortunately a small ship, apparently, as most folks don't see them beyond a sibling-like relationship. But I've always been a sucker for the Shakespearian, "Romeo & Juliet" cliche, and I firmly believe that there could be something more to these two. I've yet to do a big fic for them, but there's so many out there already. What I do have, I hope you enjoy. Stories with this pairing: Like Father, Like Son and Now That I See You William T. Spears/Grell Sutcliff (Kuroshitsuji) - If we have to put labels on things, these two were my first yaoi pairing, whereas I originally couldn't stand yaoi. I still wouldn't call myself a fan of it by standard definition. I don't pair two characters together because "OMG THEY LOOKED AT EACH OTHER! COUPLE!" I select my ships by who I feel works well together, if not by canon. (And let the record show that Yana Toboso, the author of Kuro herself, is a William/Grell shipper. It's canon. :)) William and Grell have this unique dynamic and complexity to their relationship that I adore, and find rather sweet in a way. They compliment each other so well: William anchoring Grell's out-of-control tendencies, and Grell lightening William up from his workaholic ways. They truly are my Kuro OTP. Stories with this pairing: For the Love of Stella Grell Sutcliff/Angelina "Madam Red" Dulles-Barnett (Kuroshitsuji) - This one is admittedly new for me because I really want to explore it and figure it out. It's technically canon that Grell and Angelina had something going on, even though - if you know Grell Sutcliff - that makes the least amount of sense. But I'm curious, and I have an unnamed story in the works that I hope to write someday. Eric Slingby/Alan Humphries (KuroMyu) - The so-called "Just Friends" couple from the second Kuro musical, The Most Beautiful DEATH in the World. But we all know it's more than that. They're such a beautiful pair; romantic, tragic, true. Not to mention, I highly support characters who withstood the test of fans, and almost becoming mainstream in the series itself. The majority of Shinigami fans can easily identify them, even though they only appeared in the musical, which gained them a special cameo in the Will the Reaper OVA from Season 2. I would love to see them become part of the manga officially. Stories with this pairing: For the Love of Stella (Supporting roles) Claude Faustus/Hannah Annefeloz (KuroII) - Another pairing that I've vaguely considered, and will probably get me shot by many fans. XD But, somewhat like the Joker and Harley, I find their relationship to be dark, plausible and intriguing. I don't have any stories for them yet, but I do have one brewing in my mind. We'll see where that leads. Trivia/Facts about my Stories... The "Romance" Series (BatB) - This little series of tales was actually inspired and approved by alumni in the Broadway cast of Beauty. My dearest friend, Peter Flynn, a former Lumiere, had told his personal backstory for how Lumiere and Babette came to the castle and met. With his permission and support, I wrote Questionable Romance based on that. Meredith Inglesby, a former Babette, has also read Les Fleurettes, and I believe had adopted it for her backstory. Like Father, Like Son (Gyakuten Saiban) - This story is one of two that my voice-acting group has turned into an audio. It also holds the record of being the fastest project we had ever put together, completed in four days to be ready in time for Father's Day as a gift to my father. You can download it at our blog. (Once again, Google away for 3DF Productions.) Curious what I sound like? I voice Franziska von Karma in the piece, with a very basic-learned German accent. :) For the Love of Stella (Kuroshitsuji) - The only other story to be made into an audio production, and quite possibly the most successful so far. Curt Rose, the voice of Grell Sutcliff for our fan-audios of Kuro, had been reading the story as I wrote it and asked if we could turn it into an audio. It was recently completed, and clocks in at 1 hour, 44 mins, about the length of a feature film. It's really hard not to be biased, but it certainly is my favorite project to date, and I'm very proud of it. To give it a listen, once again just google our blog. And that's pretty much all you need to know. Any questions, comments, or requests, feel free to PM me. |
