The Four Trainers Prophecy
Turn your eyes, your mind, your heart
To all Arceus can see
Where shadows are spreading, where heroes are falling
And no one can ever be free
The Fire of Three burns bright
The Grass of Five never backs from a fight
The Water of Six moves fast out of sight
The Sun in the day, the Moon at night
Open your eyes, your mind, your heart
To all the creatures that thrive
Face the darkness united as one
Or the light will never survive

How to Train Your Wings of Fire
Counterparts:
- Windracer: A male SkyWing-NightWing hybrid who is a Dragonet of Destiny, counterpart to Hiccup. He was left outside the cave by his mother on the brightest night, where he hatched, gaining powerful mind-reading and foresight, though he repressed them for most of his life out of fear of using them. He is also an animus, which he inherited from his father, making him a descendant of Whiteout and a distant relative to Darkstalker.
- Arid: A female IceWing-SandWing hybrid who is a Dragonet of Destiny, counterpart to Astrid. Her egg was brought in by Dune, who was a friend of her father. She is able to breath both fire and frostbreath, and her tail has both a SandWing stinger and IceWing spikes. Windracer is madly in love with her, and the two become a couple.
- Auburn: A female SkyWing who is Windracer's mother and Kestrel's younger sister, counterpart to Valka. She brought her son's egg to the mountains where the guardians were hiding to protect him from Queen Scarlet, who wanted the egg destroyed because it did not look like a normal SkyWing egg and it was due to hatch on the brightest night. She is very protective of her son, and is even willing to put her life on the line to save him.
- Killer: A male NightWing who is an assassin for hire and Windracer's father, counterpart to Stoick. He was not aware that he had a son at first, as he left for the Night Kingdom before Auburn had the chance to tell him she was pregnant. After learning of Windracer's existence, he plans to reunite with his lover and properly meet his son for the first time.
- Princess Lagoon: A female SeaWing who is a Dragonet of Destiny and one of Queen Coral's daughters, counterpart to Heather. She is known to speak in a tone of voice that suggests she's keeping secrets from her friends. She likes the idea of Windracer and Arid getting together as a couple and takes the role of matchmaker for the two.
- Bog: A male MudWing who is a Dragonet of Destiny, counterpart to Fishlegs. He was born from a blood-red egg, granting him fireproof scales. It is stated several times that he enjoys eating, and he tends to be slow when it comes to romance.
- Marmoset and Mango: Fraternal twin RainWings who are replacements for the prophesized SkyWing egg that was destroyed, counterparts to Tuffnut and Ruffnut. They are well-known for pulling pranks on the other dragonets, and hardly ever take anything seriously.
- Inferno: A male SkyWing who is Kestrel's son, Auburn's nephew and Windracer's cousin, counterpart to Snotlout. He is Queen Scarlet's selected Champion, an arrogant and well-trained soldier who thinks he's better than everyone. After a fight against Arid's father in Queen Scarlet's arena, he gets a scar across his face, which he unjustly blames Windracer for.
- Scorch: A male SkyWing who is Kestrel's mate, Inferno's father and Windracer's uncle, counterpart to Spitelout. He is a soldier for Queen Scarlet, and the one she ordered to kill Windracer by throwing a spear at him. The spear was intercepted by the IceWing princess Sleet, making Scorch somewhat responsible for her death.
- Prince Frost: An IceWing prince who is Windracer's opponent in the SkyWing arena, counterpart to Dagur. He is set to fight in Scarlet's arena after he and his sister, Princess Sleet, are captured by the SkyWings. His final opponent is Windracer, whose life he spares after learning that the hybrid had tried to help his sister escape before Scarlet killed her. He avenges his sister's death by breathing his frostbreath down Queen Scarlet's throat, killing her and ending her tyrannical reign. He is captured and killed by Princess Burn shortly after escaping the Sky Kingdom.

- Vivid: A female RainWing Windracer meets and befriends while he is imprisoned by Queen Scarlet. She hates NightWings, but grows to trust Windracer after he explains his past, and the prophecy, to her.
- Princess Sleet: An IceWing princess who was captured by Queen Scarlet along with her brother, Prince Frost. She is initially hostile towards Windracer, though it's revealed to be a result of her being stir-crazy, and she develops a crush on him, giving him the nickname "Wind," which is later used by Arid. She takes a spear that was meant for Windracer, saving his life, though this act ultimately results in her death. She is avenged by her brother after he learns of her death at the talons of Queen Scarlet.
