Author has written 3 stories for Digimon. SHAVE THE HYPELLO AND RIDE ZE SHOOPUFABOUT THE GIRLThe Basics My name is Whitney and I'm 14 years old. I live in southwestern Pennsylvania with my mom in the middle of a town no one's heard of, so even if I told you what the town is called Which I am not telling. :P , you wouldn't know where it is. Random Little Factoids About Me That Might Help You Later On Being an ex-DMFer, I took it upon myself to join the Unrelenting REviewers Incorporated while DMF was still around, and I shall continue to be an UR here as well. The grading scale I go by, which was made by Max Red Outburst and Dave, is: Dave's Review Rubric of Great Justice NOTE: +'s and -'s are assigned when the fic met a certain level, but failed or exceeded in one or two of the criteria. A+ - Excellence in every form of the word. Character building is integrated perfectly, and doesn't stand out like a sore thumb. The story flows from one part to the next seamlessly. Villans are wonderfully sophisticated and not always completely evil. Make them like a real person, with ideals, morals and idosynchrasies of his/her own. You're a changed person after reading this, you can't imagine what life would be like had you not read this awesome fic Take note, these are horrendously rare, in 7 years of net browsing, I've (Dave) only handed out TWO A+'s. A - Splendid works of text art. They did pretty much everything right. No cliches to speak of, superdefined characters with plenty of backstory, characters you can relate too and feel with. Excellent writing mechanics such as grammar, paragraphing, and spelling. Plot is long and well done, with few rushed or contrived areas. Little or no logistical errors and plot holes. Avoids plot devices. Liberal use of character backstory and development, not so much that it becomes the prime focus of the fic, however. Villans nicely done, either really easy to hate, or a controversy on the villan's true nature. Not a defined and definite evil, but somewhere in the grey area. Can even appear as an ally in unusual story circumstances (like the lead hero and the villan being stranded and forced to depend on eachother for survival) B - B's sport few, if any cliches, Also, B's have good length with some clever and insightful descriptors. The characters have nice backstory, and you can begin to relate with the characters a little, It also must be nicely structured. A few character building episodes scattered about. Villans closer toward a definitive evil side, with a nice helping of evil and complex villan plan. C - Meh. The par of the course. Decent, but not spectacular. Cliches cropping up, a thorn in the side of the story, and the characters have shallow backstory and one cannot relate with the characters and share their feelings. Periodically occuring plot errors/holes/devices, and inadequate descriptors in the narration. Lack of character changes from one installment to the next, no single-character oriented chapters (ie: a chapter devoted mainly to a single character, often provides lots of backstory, essential in fics B and up). Neglected characters, and overused character ideas. Villans are one dimensional, boring, and completely without character. (Akino Ame's note: Also includes the pathetic OOCness that occurs without reason. Does not count, however, when there's a reason such as a gradual change in personality over a period of several years) D - And downeth we decent into thy realm of crappy fics, why has thou forsaken me? These are like C's, only the bad points are worse. With cliches liberally scattered about, a plot that is either boring as drying paint or horribly bugged up. The characters are 1 dimensional, as are the villans. F - These are the pits. Comes free with a plenty of cliches, horribly rushed, 1 dimensional characters, and are horrible on the grammar. Pretty much everything done wrong. Z- - A special grade to the worst of the worst. You'd rather bag elephant poop than read this. As you may have guessed, the Rubric doesn't apply to Poetry, as I (Dave) never designed a version for that because I'm not that good at rating poetry. Also, script format stories earn an immediate C or lower. Prose format is the complete version of a story, and is the version one should be using. Humour fics are pretty much the only ones that can use a Script format, as they don't fit in with the usual rubric anyway. ANOTHER NOTE! It has been brought to my attention that there are people who do not approve of this rubric, and feel the need to flame those who use it. If you think the rubcric is too harsh, and feel like you're story is too good for criticism, you must not be mature enough to be a writer. Every author needs contrcutive criticism. Don't like it, don't post a story. It's as simple as that. If you flame Red Outburst, Akino Ame, or I, and expect us to respond, we most likely won't, therefore wasting your time. We won't stop dishing out the grades and criticism because you're too immature to accept it. Get over it. IF YOU REVIEW A STORY OF MINE. . .Please, please, please, do not just say something like, "LIEK OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG I LIEK LUV UR STORII!!11oneone!!!11~ PLEEZPLEEZPLEEZ CONTINU!!11one!!11111~" For one thing, I do not speak annoying teenybopper fluently enough to translate that, and secondly, even something like, "Good story." won't satisfy me. I want to know what it is you like, yanno? Also, if you don't like something, tell me. How is a writer ever going to get better if you don't give some well rounded constructive criticism? I mean, all of my stories must have something that can be improved. I know that. So tell me. Tell me what you would like to see, what you think I should improve on, etc. I'm not saying I'll listen to you, but at least I know, eh? MY WORKSPlease note that most of these fanfictions have not been uploaded yet. I assure you that they have been, or are in the process of being, written.
