![]() Author has written 7 stories for Alex Rider, and Ranger's Apprentice. Hey everybody! Well, it's been a while, hasn't it? Especially since I updated my profile. It's very long overdue, I think. But better late than never, I suppose. Perhaps I should make that into my personal motto? I'm Ali (short for Alison), and I'm a 21 year old, New Zealand university student, studying towards a BSc in Biochemistry and Pharmacology. I intend to research human diseases in the future, such as Huntingtons Disease and Parkinsons Disease. My mum died of Huntingtons when I was about 11, so it's a bit of a personal interest for me. I spent a year in Japan on an exchange at at small Japanese high school in a small town in Hokkaido, so I speak a bit of Japanese, and I think the exchange was one of the best things to ever happen to me. I'd love to go back there one day. Japan is amazing, and all the people I met were really nice. I'd definitely recommend a trip there to anyone. I have a small recurve bow, and I'd love to be able to shoot it properly, but I simply don't have the time or place to shoot a bow at things. Blame the Ranger's Apprentice series for the inspiration. I have spent a year using a Japanese bow though, and I even got somewhat decent at it. Those Japanese school 'sports clubs' are pretty serious things. Anyone would get good at something if they spend 3 hours a day, 6 days a week, practising it for about 8 months. And no, I'm not kidding. Poor little PE hating me was exhausted, but seeing the arrows hit the target and even winning a competition made it all worth it. (Ok, I'm bragging a bit, but archery, seriously, how cool is that???) I love reading and writing, but my study is pretty hard, and I need to get good grades to get into research, which means I don't have enough time to read and write as much as I'd like. This unfortunately means that all my writing is very sporadic. I write when I can, but sometimes I just get swamped, and I loose track of time, and then before I know it, months have gone by without any updates to my stories. It's not intentional, but as much as I love writing, my study comes first. One day I hope to publish a book, but I think that's a long way off. A girl can dream about getting rich and famous from publishing though, right? I even have my rich-person house all planned out. It's going to have a dungeon and secret passageways. It'll be great; by day, a super genius mad scientist, and by night, an amazing, world-renown author who writes new novels in her secret dungeon. Not very realistic, but everyone can have an ambition. Aim high, right? :) My Facebook: www.facebook.com/alison.rose.1656 My facebook is under the name Alison Rose, and I will post about how my writing is going, and other random stuff related to my writing, if you're interested. Feel free to add me! My Adult Fan Fiction: /profile.php?no=1296920538 I'll post and MA stories up here, in case anyone's interested. Since I can talk about my stories all day and night without stopping if you let me, I thought I'd give a bit of background info on how some of them came to be, and little interesting tidbits that some of you might find amusing. :) My Completed Stories: Ranger's Apprentice: If You Jump:A short Will/Alyss one shot that I wrote in a single night of inspiration. It's a bit depressing, and involves death and mentions of torture. When I go back and reread it, it always makes me cry, and I'm the one that wrote it! Once, in desperation on an English assignment in high school, I changed all the names and places and handed it in to my teacher. I felt quite smug with the good grade it got me, but it was probably semi-cheating. Too late now, I suppose. Coffee, the true price of addiction:Another short one shot written during a night full of coffee, this time as a birthday present to a friend who also likes RA. I'm not really satisfied with it, and one day when I have time (so probably not any time soon, I'm afraid) I'll go back and rewrite it and improve it. If there is anything you think this story needs, leave me a review or a PM, and I'll take it into consideration. My Current Stories: Alex Rider: Last Spy Standing:This story was adopted in a moment of "OMG this story is such a good idea, I really want to know what happens, and I can't believe the author is giving it up! It could be so good!" and next thing I know, I've taken it over and basically rewritten and changed the whole thing, and a surprising amount of people like it, despite the fact that I am the third person to take over this story and I've most likely changed it so far from the original that it's now unrecognisable. Take the title for instance. The original author called it that, and then gave it up to the person I adopted it from. Neither me nor the person before me know why it's called that, so basically, the title has nothing at all to do with the story, and I have absolutely no idea where the original author was going with it. Sometimes it gives me awesome "what if..." ideas though, so I haven't changed it. (well, that and the fact that I absolutely suck at naming things...) This story isn't a priority at the moment, but one day, when I finally figure out what on earth I'm going to do with the plot, I will finish it. Ranger's Apprentice: Will Lightfingers: A sort of "What if..." story inspired originally by a small challenge that I read once that completely spiralled out of control. This story is fully planned, and not really anything like the original challenge, but I've just never got around to writing more than the first chapter... It should be a medium length fic, but I'm not good at judging things like that. All of my projects seem to snowball out of my control while I'm not watching them though... Blood Money: One day, I was sitting in school in Japan, absolutely bored out of my mind and completely unable to understand a single word my Japanese History teacher was lecturing about, this story exploded into my head. Like literally, exploded. The original planning is even a huge multi-page scribble in the back of my history notebook. I can't wait to write more of this one, and I have to force myself to finish the older stories first. I'm surprised there isn't more interest in this one, honestly, but then again I know the kick ass things that are yet to happen, and all you guys have is a boring summary and a couple of starter chapters. This is a "what if..." version of The Sorcerer in the North and The Castle of Macindaw.I always thought Ranger Meralon was a bit of a dick, and then, BAM, before I knew it, he had morphed into my head to the unintentional bad guy trying to fix his mistakes and not get executed for treason you see here. Just give it a try, please. I promise it's not as bad as my sucky summary makes it sound. XD The Black Castle: It's probably the dumbest title ever, so if anyone has any ideas, please pass them on. I think all my creativity was sucked into the story itself, with none left over for a badass title. This was my first ever fanfiction, and it started off as a small project hand written into a notebook, and it all spiralled out of control from there... I loved this story so much, and had so many ideas for it, I couldn't decide what I wanted to do with it, so I decided in a moment of genius (or insanity, take your pick) that I would write TWO VERSIONS, both with different plots and endings, but they start out quite similar. I don't know which one is my favourite, but I have much of this all planned out, and I think it may become a monster story. This story is my current focus, I want to finally finish something, and as this is my first story and it's mostly planned, it has priority. The Black Castle, Dark Version: The mutated baby from my original Black Castle, this fic likes to play with my sanity. I have so many ideas for this, that I just can't pick one and stick with it. I have no idea where this is going in the future. I have the immediate future all planned out, but I have no idea what the main plot is going to be. I used to know, and then I realised that the plan was really dumb, and then the shit just hit the fan. Will is being all annoying (I think it's revenge because I plan to have him tortured and stuff...) and keeps ending up in places I don't want him, but he refuses to go anywhere else, so now I have to work the plot around him, which is much harder than it sounds. So, Will (and consequently this story) is having a time out, until I can figure out what on earth I am going to do. Sorry, but I figure a good plot that takes ages is better than a half-assed one. Besides, I've discovered that now the two versions are diverging quite dramatically, it's impossible to write them both at once without mixing things up, so I am going to finish the original version first, and then focus on this one, unless a miracle happens. I know I've said it before, but I will never abandon my stories. I may disappear for a year (or two...), but eventually I'll always be back. I hate leaving things unfinished, and I love my writing too much and have too many ideas to just walk away from it permanently. I even have a plan in case I die before finishing them, so you have nothing to worry about. (Yes, I'm that crazy-paranoid person...) Thanks for reading. Ranger Ali |
