Author has written 41 stories for Star Ocean, Harvest Moon, Super Smash Brothers, Game X-overs, Legend of Zelda, Fire Emblem, Soul Calibur, School Rumble, Final Fantasy XIII, Kingdom Hearts, Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, and RWBY. ...Hello, and thank you for wasting your time for looking at nothing important. Short Bio I am known as OneWingedHeron53. But you may call me Heron if you wish. I am a twenty-something-year-old Native in Ontario. I'll be honest, I forget my age sometimes, I mean at my birthday earlier, my sister baked me a cake and she labeled it Happy 2?th Birthday!" Being a writer is one of my goals, using fanfiction as my stepping stone. Favored Couple as of right now. LinkxLightning. Why this couple? You may say. Why not? I say. Both are heroes, experienced hardship on their journeys. Personally, assists their respective Goddess's. They were both forced out of their childhood to take care of another. They both are calm and collected, plus have a side you don't want to mess with. So why not? My Dream/Goal Don't worry, this won't be too sentimental. But the goal I had when I first started writing, was just to make an amazing multi-crossover. No goals, no destination, just people living and interacting together. But I understand, peace can be boring sometimes, so I would also like to make a multi-crossover where they would band together to face this common threat. But peace is always welcome at times, so sometimes I would just love to see them make peace with each other and just live their everyday life with no threat to their homes. It is for this reason that I first created the "100 Crossover Couples" and just crossover fics in general. The potential is endless when coming with this approach and I know there are people who would prefer their "canon" or "OTP" pairings, but I thrive in thinking of the unpredictability. As in, I like thinking up scenarios that no one would think of. I think of pairings that no one would even think is possible whether it's in their own canon universe or outright crossover shenanigans. I know there is a lot to work with here, but this is something that I truly enjoy, so I don't actually find it a hassle. A wise man once said; "Find a job that you love and you'll never have to work a single day of your life." ... Well, I wouldn't really call him a wise man, but these words of wisdom actually strike a fancy in me, so here it is. Philosophy of This Year Have you ever made a decent crack pairing between two characters who would otherwise probably not think of each other in that way? If you have, I guarantee that there was at least one that was all; "Ew, no. The two are not good together at all." Or perhaps even; "Yuck. Link and Hena? (The fishing girl in Twilight Princess) No thank you. Link x Zelda ftw." So you know what I say about those people? Idiots. Now not in the mean way, if possible, but I do mean it as people who probably don't understand it. Crazier things have happened in the world. Look up odd celebrity relationships and you'll be surprised that Michael Jackson and Madonna had had in fact, made out every now and then. I only accept pairings that shouldn't work when it's because there's no possible way that the two can meet. But thanks to our imaginations, we can make that happen and if we do it correctly; we can make the meeting feasible. Even then, people will still be tilting their heads at this in confusion, but don't mind them, they just don't understand and it's our job, through our works to help them at least "Okay" it. Just like that football jock in your highschool can fall in love with the lonely and creepy gothic girl or the lead cheerleader finding interest in the class nerd, (And hopefully not abusing their relationship so she can get better grades by having him do her work.) that Hero from one game can find love in a Heroine from another game with the help of our imagination. Or you know, two opposite characters finding interest in each other. I don't let personalities or other people's OTP's (Or actual cannon relationships for that matter.) get in the way and even though they may not like each other, then perhaps given enough time, they'll find some solid ground. Look at Mulan and Shang in Mulan II, when talking to their guests, they had differing ideas and philosophies, but in the end, they still love each other. So all in all, don't throw out that random pairing through the window, given enough time, you may find out that it's alright. You may never know that this unique pairing is what you have been seeking for the longest time. Philosophy of Last Year I have begun to tell myself to write. Not just for people's entertainment, but my own. While I'll still take suggestions, I'm going to write on my own accord. I have begun to tell myself to forget about reviews. If someone likes it, then they like it. I view that as a huge weakness to various writers. Fanfiction and whatnot. They work hard and when they finish, they want reviews and huge praise they think they deserve. If they receive none, however, they begin to lose heart and interest in their story. That then leads to them dismissing their talent as a writer. The way I view it now. Write big. Write big all the time. Who cares if you get no reviews or praise? If they like your story, then that's good. That's real good. Don't write big, expecting huge things to come from it. Write big and expect to write even more. Surpass your own expectations. You're the one running the show, not your readers. Don't let your ego get the best of you, keep it at a reasonable size. You should be proud to be a writer, not a prodigy. I'm not saying just turn away all advice. Accept advice from whatever readers manage to read your story, mold it into your writing style and continue to break your limit. The human mind is a powerful weapon, we can think, we can adapt, we can bring to reality our dreams through our writing. Don't stop writing. Don't stop improving. Don't stop. Just don't stop. Current Running Gags These often appear in my stories as common jokes. These may not change over time, but who knows? They also involve Link for some reason. 1: Link without the Master Sword. They will be a cameo at best or even as a simple "boss battle" The story won't revolve around them and the characters won't be making armor or weapons out of them. (maybe) Elder Dragons will appear every now and then, but they will be reduced to cameos like the other monsters. Nargacuga: A Pseudo-Wyvern with sleek black fur, bladed wings, and a retractable tail. When agitated or angered, it eyes burns a bright red. Appeared in From Shadows to Light. Slain by Aqua. Willing to do requests. Just no yaoi or yuri or characters within the same universe. Characters from different series: Like Yuna and Sephiroth or Ike and Lyn counts as a crossover. If you want to request a story of me. (Not just for 100 Crossover Couples.) Here are the rules I will follow. 1: I won't do yaoi or yuri. You can try reasoning, you can try to suggest that I genderswap one of them, you can try to persuade me, but just know that I'll say no. Link's Journey Notes Before you go ahead and read these, just know that it's entirely crack and may not be for the light-hearted as it contains domestic abuse, rape as comedy, and a severe drop in insanity. The only thing keeping it from being an M rating is the fact that I don't write out the scene, but leave it to your imagination. "What the hell did I just read?" You may say. I will answer, "A fraction of my insanity!" Before you even ask, no I don't do drugs, nor do I drink. So I can't be high or drunk when I write these. (Drugs are bad!) First Steps How to get struck by Lightning How to overcome loneliness The Second Coming (Sequel to How to get struck by Lightning) A Touch of Innocence (Branches off How to get struck by Lightning and is no way related to The Second Coming) To Defrost an Ice Queen It has come to my attention that Link has fathered three different children with various women. (Two from Lightning, one from Vanille.) And two possibly. (One from Sophitia and the other from Weiss.) While him fathering children wasn't the main plan; hence why Sophitia is a huge possibility, I think the safest way to go with this now is just to have them exist in different timelines/continuities. As such, should Weiss actually conceive a child from him, then that continuity will be treated as if the other women didn't conceive his children. However, there will be exceptions to this statement such as the child between him and Vanille as Lightning's firstborn has already existed when Vanille conceived her child. So unless noted, whenever a New Journey Note pops up its ugly title, it will be treated as if the other children didn't exist, although he will still remember the women from past Journey Notes. The only time this statement will be subverted is when it's noted. I'm doing this so that I don't taint Link's name with various fans. But remember, if you want to yell at me, go right ahead. I'll be in the corner hiding in a box. Mating Season Not related to Link's Journey Notes, but served as an inspiration to start the damn thing. Useful Notes Link in my stories: I usually use the Twilight Princess Era Link in my stories; appearance wise at least. His personality usually differs from different stories to the point where if he has the same personality as another story of mine, you can expect him to be the same one. He may also be more adept than the usual only sword and shield. Don't be surprised if I all of a sudden make him use a staff or a war hammer occasionally. He'll also be more adept at magic, able to utilize the three magics in Ocarina of Time. Din's Fire, Farore's Wind (He'll use this one the most.) and Nayru's Love. In addition, he can learn more magic just by simply observing. I also more or less make him a blood knight. Not your typical only existing for battle blood knight, but rather resistant to anything that hinders his fighting ability. Any attempts to subdue him through any magic means will be futile. I'm not saying he's outright immune to anything that hinders his fighting prowess, he can get affected, just not as easily. I do make him talk because I see that Link does in fact talk. When given choices in the games, I see it as him talking there. We just can't hear him because I think the developers wanted us to speak for him. Therefore, he is the link between us and the fictional world. That is how I see it. (Updated) There are times when I may have a Link that has knowledge and memories of his past incarnations at the same time. Usually, this is Hyrule Warrior's Link whose transportation between dimensions causes him to inherit more than memories. At times, he can and will forget which memories are his. To the hardcore Zelda fans: I sometimes see that some Hardcore Link fanboys/girls never want to see him lose. I will accept that he is a very skilled swordsman, but he is not invincible. If I come across a story that depicts him pulling off God-Mode; I will be a good sport and just leave instead of flaming it. Every incarnation of Link has to relearn how to use a sword and various ages; he has the excuse of having an associate that have taught him once he has shown interest. (WW had Orca, TP had Rusl, SS has him as a knight, etc,) I will have him pulling off nice skills in the few fights I have with him; (In case you haven't noticed, I usually like to avoid writing action scenes of swordplay...at least until I reach a level of vocabulary where I can use different words instead of the same one over and over again.) but he is as vulnerable to blows. So you can expect me not to Mary-Sue him because I know some people claim that Mary-Sue Link never gets old, I beg to differ. I don't like invincible heroes. Like in A Hero's Storm (100 Crossover Couples) I could have Lightning beat him, but I chose to have her lower her guard because of his ability to teleport and seemingly absorb some of her magic. As much as a swordsman I can respect, I'll never have him at the end of a curb stomp battle either. People say that people like warriors that know magic and summons could easily overwhelm Link in combat, but I like to keep it on even grounds like above example. Where he was able to defeat Lightning in a duel because he can absorb and learn her magic. (As well as use his respective magical abilities like Din's Fire, Farore's Wind, and Nayru's Love.) Magic seems to be the advantage various characters have over him, so I got rid of that advantage by making him resistant to magic. ZeLink: Now I notice that some people have qualms of pairing Link with any other girl that is not Zelda a lot. However, while there are other girls that fall for Link in his respective games, people seem to always resort to having him choose Zelda. Because of this, ZeLink has more stories than many would think. While I have no qualms about it, I refuse to be like others and dedicate my writing on an OTP. (One True Pairing.) At least within a canonical universe. As of right now, I seem to favor LinkxLightning a lot more than I would to any other pairing. (Which is funny since I would never have thought of it until a very good reader requested I write this...from there I included her in Link's Journey Notes...although I should consider writing a more serious piece of the two.) To get my attention, you'll have better luck with a Linkx any other girl beside Zelda and as I put it, the crackier the better, so I like reading crossovers which may include him as a love interest to someone completely different. While I haven't watched the series, Lucy from Fairy Tail seems to become a thing... (Although this may be because of one guy.) I'll read a ZeLink fic if I manage to get interested in it. I'll probably write a piece if I feel up to it, but don't expect it too much. Waifu's: Meaning wife...I think. Since Lucina has appeared in Super Smash Bros. Lucina x anyone seems to fly away as many people who played Awakening knows that Lucina can be your wife...or rather Robin's Wife. (Or if you want to go the parental approach, Robin can be Lucina's mother as well.) As such, they seem to deny the fact that Lucina will approach anyone else romantically. (She probably won't, but still.) So pairings like LucinaxPit or LucinaxLink doesn't seem to surface much. (Unlike ZelIke which quickly escalated.) While I have no qualms against that, it does annoy me a bit that people always clamor "That's my Waifu!" at any possible fanart/fiction that involves her hooking with anyone that's not Robin. (I personally married Say'Ri in my first playthrough, Aversa on the second playthrough for Shadowgift, and either Cynthia or Lucina onwards...actually that's a lie, I actually played as female Robin first and didn't know that marriage would happen and I married Chrom. Even almost missed Cynthia because once I discovered the marriages, I started marrying people left and right before realizing that Sumia has the least potential spouses and Henry was all that was left. I was about to marry him off to Tharja.) Of course, the entire argument above could go the other way as well with Robin being the mother. Crossovers: I love crossovers, really I do. So much that it prompted me a couple years back to write "100 Crossover Couples." You'll really gain my attention if you go that approach. Within that fiction stands really outlandish pairings such as LinkxLightning and AlbelxSeungMina to the more "common" ones. IkexZelda and CloudxYuna. Every now and then I would practice my writing by freewriting a massive crossover, however, I don't publish those as I delete once I am done (Or rather don't save.) I have in fact; due to a request, uploaded one of my freewriting where I only limited it to two worlds and it was in fact already a crossover. I usually free write when I'm extremely tired (And can't sleep) and as a result, I write random things and take it from there. That one story I uploaded? Link's Journey Notes: First Steps. (Although I sort of based it off of Mating Season...which is a mystery on how I wrote such a thing.) Link's Journey Notes: A LinkxHarem piece where instead of having them all in one place, they each get their time as Link is (Usually forced) in another random world. As a Harem fic, Link can get any women he wants...although it is more like they get him; despite his protests. While I treat it as comedy, just know that it is a far cry as what would happen in reality. Link also gets no qualms about it and is still on friendly terms with them. This allows the girls to get him more than once, as is the case of Lightning who got two Journey Notes and as a preview, Aqua as well. While he is skeptical on how he is treated, I treat it more of an annoyance than anything else. As the above note stated, this started with Sophitia when I free wrote it. So no, I wasn't high or drunk when I started these series, just extremely tired. Also, know that Link is essentially a chew toy and butt monkey in this series. Why doesn't Zelda have a Journey Note? Good question, I'll get to you on that as soon as I can. ...While it can be explained with my reluctance to write a Zelink piece, I could explain it as Hylians emit a pheromone that can reduce the opposite sexes cognitive ability and drive them in a primal state of sorts. The reason why they don't notice this is that the pheromone cancels out each other. Now I'm going to stop here before I get bad(er) ideas. OC's and self-inserts: While I make it a rule to not use OC's as much as possible, I may slip one or two in every now and then. Now I understand that many OC's, especially the ones that are created by beginners will have ridiculous abilities or past. While I do try to make an interesting past, I will not make him/her something like being granted powers from the gods to do their bidding in an otherwise normal scenario like writing an OC for a School Rumble fic. Unlike many other OC's who are otherwise the suppose lost twin from the main character or someone from a characters past or even just created for the sole purpose of being a love interest, I will not do these things. When I create OC's, they are from scratch with as much as little ties to other characters. As such, it won't be the typical, "I saved you, can I get a kiss now?" I really despise those kinds of OC's. And you can be as sure as hell that I will never do a self-insert. I know that some characters are very attractive to the point that you think they belong to you and you only, I respect characters as a whole and will never write a self-insert of having an affair or relationship with that character. The closest Self-Insert I'll do is to point out various things I have done. Like the characters themselves teasing myself or perhaps even try to kill me. Within a certain series, I have yet to update (Getting to it soon) the characters of Smash have access to my account and they themselves will upload their own stories. (Figuratively speaking.) My relation with fictional characters: With the above note, the only distance I'll place between myself and fictional characters is just simple gestures like one would have with a friend coming over for some tea. The certain series noted above is in fact called "SSB Crew tries and fails to teach writing." I started that bit two years ago, right before SSB4 was announced. In there, the various Smash Characters (Mainly Captain Falcon, Wolf, and Marth with a couple of guests.) have access to my account and they try to teach others how to write. Figuratively speaking. Of course, I write myself as not home at the moment so they use my account to upload their own stories. Of course, the safety between fictional and reality is something to speak of. The characters themselves are in constant danger in the real world by the most savage of monsters and villains they have ever encountered. Fangirls. So every time I write myself as coming home, my house is wrecked by their constant stampeding. That's how far I'll go as a self-insert. Not some God who can erase any individual with just a lift of an eyebrow. Oh, and they'll be trying to kill me in certain situations. Love and Hate: I really hate hating...so to speak. I'm just a really nice guy, so in any scenario, you can expect me to be in the middle. I like to point out pros and cons, but I like pointing out the pros first. If I read and review your fic, even if it's a first time writing, you can expect me to be nice and even point out tips and suggested actions. But otherwise, it is up to you to confide in them, you're writing the story, not me. With all the above statement, something you really hate will only be something that I think is nothing. Like the Twilight series, I know many hate the series, but I see it as pretty much nothing. Like I said, I hate hating. I view hatred as a wasted emotion. My problem with a whale eating my laptop: In various fics of mine; particularly ones that haven't been updated for the better part of the year or more. I will make a statement saying that problems came up involving a whale eating my laptop. That's a figure of speech, in case you didn't get it, it basically means that something came up; ie: a virus attack, a flu attack, file corruption, accidental sabotage from my nephews, etc, so when I say that I don't mean that a whale actually ate my laptop. I don't even live in an area close to the ocean, much less where whales would dwell. Criticism: Something that I've seen every now and then. Especially on stories that were written; for lack of a better term, by newbies. They can't handle criticism and even have their summary saying something along the line of "NOT LOOKING FOR CRITICISM!!!" Of course, not to be mean, that just means you make a lot of problems that make people cringe and if you can't handle criticism, then maybe writing isn't your thing. Criticism is a huge part of writing. Even if you're just writing just because then you should at least handle some criticism. Tips for deciding a Crossover Ship First; look around various art or fiction communities have has certain crossover ships. (Youtube also helps from time and again.) See if you can spot a random couple you may base yours off of. I came up with LinkXLyn ever since I found two old pictures. One was of LinkxSheeda and the other was RoyxZelda. I spotted the latter first and it was a terribly long time ago, so I don't even know if it's still around. I came across the former on Da some time after that. Second; Think of reasons on why they would be a good read. If you want, you can just base your reason on their appearance along. I came up with LinkxLyn just based on Lyn having green hair and slightly green clothing. (It is more blue than green though.) As well as having brown boots. However, if you want to make it work better, think of their personalities. It would help if they somehow contrast with each others. Having one mirror someone the other knows may help a lot better. I thought Albel would work with Seung Mina mainly because I have Seung Mina see Albel almost like Yun-Seung. Third; That's pretty much it. But if you want to go further. Keep reading. Their histories can also contribute to your reasoning. Like LinkxLightning as servants and personal warriors of the Goddess. Like personalities, if they can related, it'll be easier to have them interact with each other. Additionally, you can just foregone all of this and base it on a simple request, as I did for LinkxLightning. Fourth; This one is not entirely needed, but it can help to come up with more outlandish pairings. Take away one of the partners and replace it with someone who closely resembles that person. Like for fun, I can probably turn LinkXRosalina to LinkxElsa from Frozen. As I said, you can pretty much have fun with any pairings as long as it is tolerable. Fifth; Again, not needed. Have a random pairing you came up with in your sleep? Want to spread it but don't have the skills to write or draw a decent work of art for it? Don't worry, as long as you have money or people owe you favors, you can just ask them to write up a piece or draw a piece for you as a favor. Like LinkxLucy from Fairy tail. While I respect everyone who can come up with a random pairing like that, special mention goes to that one guy who managed to get people to draw LinkxLucy for him. While I do not know his reasoning, I bet it will be an enjoyable pairing at the best. (Although personally, I would pair him with Erza instead. But that is just me.) |
