Author has written 1 story for Percy Jackson and the Olympians. Hi, so you may have noticed I've deleted most of my fanfiction. I literally just did it, and it hurt way more than I thought it would. Now, before I get one or two upset people (not sure I have that much influence in this fandom still, but maybe?) I've got to say that its my right to do so, and that I'm sorry if this upsets anyone. If you've been following my progression of stories, and Seasons Change is still open for a little while longer so those of you who hadn't finished it can, you would know from my last author's note that I'm trying to move on from writing long, long fanfictions -- which is a problem I have if I can ever actually finish one. So, in the spirit of moving on and not looking back I've decided to delete (most) of them. Seasons Change will probably only be up for a few more weeks. I don't think I'll write anything else under this moniker ever again, though its served me well over these past eight years. I'm happy I got to see so many Percy/Nico fans, and I was far too shy to talk to many of you (I'm leaving this channel open for messages and stuff that I can't promise will be answered), and this will always be one of my favorite fandoms. Oh, but one thing before I go: Sensory Love had a great flaw to it (among many, SO many). I wrote it, what, almost four years ago and I'm just now addressing it? But, there was a theme of 'unconscious touching' in SL that I have to put out a huge apology for. I wrote that fic way before I knew anything about rape culture (which is scary considering I was nineteen), and oh boy. Do not, under any circumstances when you write, write that it is okay for a character to touch another character without their conscious consent. Ever. Do not perpetuate rape stereotypes as if they're okay, and this is more a statement to myself from nearly four years ago, but should be said here too because it can bleed into real life. I realize that I had a lot of younger readers and I don't want it to be normalized for you, because it is not normal. I, myself, read it in a lot of fics when I was younger and it made its way into my work; and for that I apologize. You shouldn't need nonconsensual anything to progress a love story. This is a PSA to all of my young (or old) writers, no matter what gender the person is it's still considered rape. This doesn't excuse it, but I hope it brings light to the issue. Sorry to end on such a sour note, as I was saying I'm very thankful to you all who have been reading me over the years, it has meant a lot. I'm sorry I didn't respond to every message or review, but I promise I read them. I read them all over, and over again as encouragement. Hopefully I can jump over this next hurdle I've been trying, unsuccessfully, to conquer for years now: my own novel. "I go to seek a great perhaps." - François Rabelais, but I stole the quote from John Green. (For anyone who didn't know XTheSonofHadesX, who is a nice guy and I think pretty well known in the PJO fandom on this site, has graciously agreed to continue my story Exchange, it will be his story now, and though I don't know when it will be posted you should go give him many, many thanks from me for doing so. I hated leaving that one open, but it was far too big a project for me to finish. Thanks again, TSoH!) |
