She woke up slowly to the taste of salt and old linen. Breasts aching, full in a way that she was already an old hand at recognizing. Maternal and timely with the knowledge that there would likely be a hungry little one burbling and spitting himself awake sooner rather than later for his breakfast.

"You said what?" he grunted, half-surprised, half-impressed as he watched her shimmy out of her mom jeans. Pausing at the foot of the bed as the shadowed curve of her turned towards him. He had about five seconds to admire the way her figure was silhouetted in the half-dark before she was movin' again, crossing in front of the open window as bare feet shuffled across the carpet.

"Sometimes keeping your mouth shut was a nearly impossible task when you had something you really wanted to say. Daryl knew this for a fact because he had been trying all damn day to keep his mouth shut."

"Don't say that." Jake shakes his head before claiming her lips swiftly, refusing to believe that this is where they end. "If you're not meant for me, why do I feel like I'm home whenever you're around? If we're not meant for each other, why does being with you make me feel complete? Elizabeth, please, I know you feel it, too."

While at the prison, Carol sewed leather sleeves onto a jacket and gifted Daryl with it. Losing Merle's bike and the jacket symbolized the loss of stability in all their lives when the Prison fell and everyone was scattered. Can they find it, and each other, again in the ASZ?
