I have been predicting since the episodes that sparked Bethyl last season that we are being set up for a love triangle, as there are so many in the comics. I have thought they will play it out as Daryl genuinely torn between the two and do their best to keep the audience on his side.

I see this as Carol's thoughts, she didn't know what reception she would get. I think if Daryl had rejected or even stood and stared with a not friendly look, she would have shown them where Ty and Judith were and go quietly on her own.
