Author has written 23 stories for Firefly, Lord of the Rings, King Arthur, Grey's Anatomy, Pride and Prejudice, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Assassin's Creed. Icon by hotaruanne at LJ. In all honesty, I’d never given fanfic a second thought – until Firefly was so unceremoniously canceled by those dumbasses at FOX. Seeing the story remained unfinished and at the time, unsure of whether or not plans for a DVD release were at hand, I did a little digging around the web and Viola! Fanfic. Now, I can work out all the little character ideas nibbling along the edges of my brain. While the Firefly fandom is my first love, it’s not my only one. I love Keen Eddie, another show unceremoniously dumped by FOX. However, considering the rather frenetic, sarcastic format of that show, writing fic for it has proven virtually impossible. I also have a thing for sci-fi, fantasy and action movies. I’m a hardcore LoTR freak, though I do a lot more reading of that fic than writing of it. And I love both the movies and books equally. Yes, there is quite a bit missing from the movie in terms of characters and changes in plotlines, but I do realize that movies are a far different medium from books. Overall, I’m simply glad Peter Jackson was able to put such a complicated concept to screen, allowing a whole new group of people to get out there and read the books. I also enjoy Pirates of the Caribbean , King Arthur (2004). The 2005 Pride and Prejudice is pretty good too I’m not saying it’s better than the 1995 A&E mini-series, just different. And its different interpretation gives it a new heart. It’s more organic and everything looks more lived in and the passion between Elizabeth and Darcy gives it a truly romantic air that I adore. Anything by Jane Austen and Elizabeth Gaskell is great as well, as well as those fabulous BBC costume dramas that are shown here in the States, either on Masterpiece Theater or BBC America. I'm also a new fan of Stardust, the BBC version of Robin Hood. The Assassin's Creed series is now my newest obsession, as I absolute loved AC2. While I liked the first game, the second definitely kicked everything up a notch. If Ubisoft continues down this road, they could have one of the best series of games to come out in a long, long time. Anyway, I’ll shut-up now and stop this manifesto of borderline madness. I hope you enjoy my stories. Please leave constructive criticism, otherwise I can't get any better at this sort of thing. Hell, none of us are all perfect, least of all me. In the meantime, The Legacy of the Sea Wolf is a work in progress I plan on completing within a few months, while Strength, Love, and Honour is on indefinate hiatus, at least until I finish The Legacy of the Sea Wolf. |
