One of the queens of England bragged that she only had 2 baths in her entire life (they gave her a third when she died). Even if Altair was the 3rd Crusade equivalent of a neat freak, he might not have bathed more than once every two weeks. Or even once a month. People didn't bathe back in the day, unless they had a Roman bath handy. Remember, bathing consisted of scrubbing yourself down in a VERY cold stream for many travelers. Hot baths could only happen if you heated a giant pot/cauldron full of water, carried it to the bath tub, and dumped it in, then got the next pot/cauldron and dumped that in, then the next... It was quite the task. Still a funny fic though. |
