I will summarize the important stuff. Age: Too old to be reading fanfics, too old to care what other people think about it. Location: Texas, not quite born, but raised. Work: A lot, for not enough pay. Interests: Video games (currently got a huge backload of stuff to get through, but working on it), books (Tom Clancy, Bill Baldwin, George Martin [better not die before finishing your series, George!, Stephen King), movies . I refuse to watch reality TV except for Beyond Scared Straight, those turds deserve to get the crap scared out of them. Don't listen to a lot of current music, but I am a huge Muse fan. I usually read anime fanfics of stuff I read (Rosario Vampiro, Freezing, Naruto), although I'm surprised that NO ONE has written an Umi No Misaki fic here yet. It's screaming for a good harem ending. Seriously, the main character has... like 6 girls chasing him! Come on people! Also like reading Harry Potter stuff, even though I've only read one of the books and the first 4 movies. As my handle indicates, I am a proponent of the "nice guy gets ALL the girls" ending. I figure with all the crap the hero usually has to put up with in the story, he deserves all the happiness he can get. Favorite pairings are: Rosario to Vamprio - Tsukune/Ruby, Kurumu, or Mizore. I just don't have any sympathy for Moka. "Wah! I got treated badly by humans when I was younger because I was prettier and smarter than them, and I'm actually a super powerful vampire who will live for centuries! Wah!" Meanwhile, you've got a girl whose parents were killed, leaving her abandoned, another girl who will DIE if she doesn't get her Destined One, and another one who needs to have kids because her race is dying out, but is waiting for someone who seemingly WILL NOT choose her. This is a horrible example of the "First Girl Wins" and "Meet Cute" tropes. See the "Get What You Wanted" series by MistressWinowyll and it's MANY offshoots for more. Naruto - Naruto and most of the female population EXCEPT for Sakura and Temari (my man Shika's gotta have someone, and Shiho ain't gonna cut it). Sakura treated Naruto like crap for years in favor of a guy who at best ignored her and at worst inflicted psychological damage on her. Then she LIES to a guy who knows is in love with her to protect that emo jerkass! If I had to narrow the pairings down, I'd go with Hinata for a traditional pairing, and Anko for a crack pairing. Yes she's older than him, but not by as much as people seem to think. They both have seals they never wanted, are both disliked by the people (going with common fanfic plots for Anko on this one), and personality wise they are very similar. Anko just falls on the "Psycho" side of the Genki scale while Naruto is on the "Happy" side. HP - Tough call. Hermione works, but that's played out. Seriously. Also tired of Luna fics, they always make her out to be this mystical seer when she's just a damaged kid who saw her mom die and makes up things so she doesn't have to think about it. I'm a huge Honks fan, although that may just be because I have a thing for Natalia Tena. Most of Rowling's characters are so poorly developed that you could pretty much make any girl a good match for Harry. ZArkham actually made me a Katie Bell fan with "Paging Dr. Bell" and "Harry Potter and the Rejected Path" (at least, until the story went off the reservation). Yes, I don't like yaoi. I'm not a homophobe, I just don't like people forcing homosexuality into everything. Sorry. If you know you're bad at grammar, spelling, or anything else, I encourage you to get help with your stories. I've seen many good ideas ruined because the stories were nearly unreadable. I don't really write any stuff of my own (several of my teachers over the years has said my writing is technically very good, but dry), but I am more than happy to proofread/beta your story if you want help. Send me a PM and we can set something up. If you want some examples of my work, read "Sekirei: Guardian of the North" by Shadows of Vanity or "The Darkness That Binds Him" by XxKageTenshixX. I keep story ideas to myself unless requested, I focus on grammar and spelling. Speaking of which... My Short Crash Course of Commonly Misused Words There/They're/Their There - Indicates location ("It's over there!") They're - Contraction of "they are", indicates action by multiple people ("They're going to go soon.") Their - Indicated possession ("Their pen is on the table.") Bear/Bare Bear - Large fuzzy animal that lives in the woods. Also to carry something, either physically or emotionally ("He will bear the weight of his crimes forever.") Bare - Exposed or to expose something ("The t-shirt left his arms bare." "The prosecutor laid bare the crimes of the accused.") Your/You're Your - Possession ("Your keys are in the desk.") You're - Contraction of "you are". Action by someone else ("You're going soon, right?") Weary/Wary Weary - Tired or exhausted Wary - Cautious These are quick and dirty definitions, but should help out some VERY commonly misused words. I'll add more as I think of them. |
