MLP QUIZ! Fav characters? Sunset Shimmer, Applejack, Discord, Rarity, Adagio Dazzle, Pinkie Pie, Twilight Sparkle (Seasons 1-4), Lord Tirek, Fluttershy, Maud Pie, Spike, Sweetie Belle, Big Mac, Sonata Dusk, Cheese Sandwich, Capper, Saffron Masala, King Sombra, Trixie, Autumn Blaze, Scootaloo, Minuette, Princess Cadance, Shining Armor, Flurry Heart, Pear Butter, Fancypants, Bulk Biceps, Sugarcoat, Princess Skystar, Octavia and Vinyl Scratch. Least fav characters? Starlight Glimmer, Wallflower Blush, Stygian, Juniper Montage, Vignette Valencia, Tempest Shadow, Diamond Tiara, Spitfire, Babs Seed, Firelight and Stellar Flare, Sludge, Lightning Dust, Prince Rutherford, Quibble Pants (pre-Common Ground), Prince Blueblood, Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles, Grubber, Snips, Principal Cinch, Zesty Gourmand, Garble (pre-Season 9) and Suri Polomare. Fav background pony? Minuette Least fav background pony? Time Turner. Probably because I don't like Doctor Who. Fav Mane Six member? Applejack. But Rarity comes at a close second. Least fav Mane Six member? Twilight Sparkle, mostly because of how she's gotten in the last three seasons. I don't dislike any of the Mane Six, it's just that someone has to come last. Fav CMC? Sweetie Belle Least fav CMC? Probably Apple Bloom. By default. Again. Fav princess? Cadance. She's just so chill. It used to be Twilight until after Season 4 when she became a narrow-minded, dogmatic moron who believes friendship can solve literally every problem. Least fav princess? Luna. One, her fanbase is insane. Two, she put all of Equestria in danger just so she could continue wallowing in her guilt instead of getting psychological help. Most overrated character? Luna (see above) and Starlight Glimmer. Most underrated character? King Sombra. Fav season? Season 4 Least fav season? Season 8 Fav episode? Twilight's Kingdom. But Gauntlet of Fire, Pinkie Pride, Amending Fences, The Perfect Pear and Tanks for the Memories come close. Least fav episode? A tie between Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep and A Rockhoof And A Hard Place. As someone with a friend who suffered from suicidal thoughts years ago, these sorts of things are not easily swept away because someone gives you a hug and says "we love you, stop being depressed". It DOES NOT work like that. Most okay episode? Not Asking for Trouble, I guess. Most forgettable episode? Uncommon Bond. Honestly, the moment the credits started rolling, I forgot about it instantly. It was just in one ear and out the other. Fav episode focused on your fav Mane Six member? A three-way tie between The Last Roundup, Leap of Faith and The Mane Attraction. Fav episodes focused on the other Mane Six? RARITY: Sisterhooves Social and Forever Filly. RAINBOW DASH: Tanks for the Memories. FLUTTERSHY: It Ain't Easy Being Breezies and Hurricane Fluttershy. TWILIGHT SPARKLE: Twilight's Kingdom and Amending Fences. PINKIE PIE: Pinkie Pride and Party of One. And the CMC? Hearts and Hooves Day. Don't forget Spike. Gauntlet of Fire and Equestria Games. How about Starlight? HA! Okay, fine, I guess All Bottled Up by default. Any episode you hate but everyone else loves? Every Little Thing She Does, Do Princesses Dream of Magic Sheep, Shadow Play and A Royal Problem. The other way around? It Ain't Easy Being Breezies, Hearts and Hooves Day and Equestria Games. How about a episode everyone loves but you find good/okay? Slice of Life, A Hearth's Warming Tail and The Break Up Break Down. Any guilty pleasure episodes? Power Ponies. I know the superpowers are pretty much exaggerated or downplayed versions of their abilities they already have. I know they use superhero clichés rather than satirise them. I know it would've been more interesting if the Mane-iac had come into Equestria. I know it makes the Mane Six incompetent in order to make Spike useful. I know the consistency is off with Rarity mastering her new superpower right away while Applejack, Rainbow Dash and Twilight were having trouble mastering powers and weapons they've pretty much had their whole lives. I know it's an incredibly stupid filler episode... but I'm a sucker for superheroes. Any episode you didn't like at first but grew to like when you watched it again? A Dog and Pony Show. Have you ever skipped an episode? She's All Yak. From the moment I read the premise, I could predict everything that was going to happen. I've seen the story done so many times, it's ridiculous. Fav season premiere and finale? The Crystal Empire and Twilight's Kingdom. Least fav premiere and finale? Celestial Advice and School Raze. Fav song? A tie between The Goof-Off and My Past Is Not Today. Least fav song? A tie between Flawless ("Stop criticising our characters! They're not perfect so shut up!") and Invisible (because fuck Wallflower). Best villain? Adagio Dazzle. But Discord, Tirek and Midnight Sparkle come pretty damn close. Worst villain? Starlight Glimmer. Let's see: she had a childish interpretation of equality backed up by a pathetic motivation of her friend moving away (compared to Apple Bloom who actually handled losing her friend like an adult and sought out new ones). She got a horribly-rushed redemption where she instantly got accepted by everyone including the Our Town ponies she brainwashed for Celestia-knows-how-long. She always gets off scot-free for pulling stupid stunts, making terrible plans that only work out of pure dumb luck and blatantly repeating her crimes without any consequences (and no, “consequences” is not synonymous with “capital punishment” or “the guillotine"). She has no personality, likes or dislikes outside of "I like kites" and nothing else. She's barely developed. She constantly moped around throughout Season 6 with an "I'm reeeeeally sorry for what I did" mantra, reminding the audience of her past villainy. She always gets stapled to more interesting and funny characters who steal her spotlight (Trixie, Discord, Thorax, Maud, Celestia and Luna). The writers keep making the other characters completely useless or idiotic so they can build her up as the only voice of reason or the only one who can save the day, as if to say "YOU WILL LIKE STARLIGHT GLIMMER BECAUSE WE THINK SHE'S REALLY COOL!" Fuck. Her. Best tertiary antagonist? Trixie. The best thing about Boast Busters and a ton of fun in the episodes she'd had lately. Snarky, over-the-top egocentric, theatrical, has a desire to learn real magic, rags on Worst Pony and makes her life a living hell. What's there not to love? Worst tertiary antagonist? Diamond Tiara. Making us sit through five years of her being an insufferable brat before hastily stapling "I'm sad, feel sorry for me" onto her in Crusaders of the Lost Mark and giving her a snapshot redemption? No thanks. Do you like the first Equestria Girls movie? No, although it isn't terrible or unwatchable. It's mediocre at best. And definitely worth sitting through to get to the much-better sequel! What about Rainbow Rocks? YES! A major improvement over the first movie! And Friendship Games? I like Rainbow Rocks just a little bit more, but I still find this movie pretty damn great! Don't forget Legend of Everfree! Friendship Games is slightly better but this was pretty good too. Especially Gloriosa! How about the three specials? I think Dance Magic and Movie Magic are both pretty good! Mirror Magic, on the other hand... (deep annoyed sigh) Forgotten Friendship? Everything about it is great and adorable, but sadly the villain Wallflower's actions are a catalyst that drives the entire story and as such, she dampens my enjoyment of it severely. Rollercoaster of Friendship? Villain is shit but everything else is so unapologetically ship-tastic! Spring Breakdown? First half was unbearably slow and Rainbow was kind of an idiot, but decent enough overall. Speaking of movies, what about the 2017 movie? It's not especially strong when compared to the other premieres and finales but I'm still glad I saw it. Fav shippings? SunLight, SunDagio, RariJack, BrightButter, AppleDash, CheesePie (on occasion) and Starlight Glimmer x Actual Consequences. Least fav shippings? Sparity, TwiLuna and any ship involving Starlight (except for the one mentioned above). Any characters you didn’t like but grew to like as the series progressed? Rarity. If you could remove one meme from the fandom, what would it be? "Applejack is best background pony". So what if she doesn't have crazy moments like Twilight or isn't random and crazy like Pinkie? She's honest, strong and hardworking, acts as the voice of reason, is very encouraging towards her friends, never backs down from a fight, is a great second-in-command to Twilight, willingly ventures into danger to save others, has her moments of stubbornness but still strives to look after her family and loves for her little sister with all her heart. So SHUT. IT. Can you name anyone you want to guest star on the show? Idina Menzel, Patrick Stewart, Liam Neeson, Kristen Wiig, Jenny Slate, Anna Kendrick and Ian McKellen. (I know that's too many, bite me, they're awesome) What about a guest star to voice a one-time villain? Tony Todd, Steven Blum, John Noble, Grey Delisle, Clancy Brown, Ron Perlman, Mark Hamill or Keith David. Lastly, how did you become a fan of this show? In early 2013, I was chatting with one of my Fanfiction friends, A Kiss of Winter, and since she's extremely kooky and incredibly hyperactive, she randomly said "I'm watching My Little Pony right now! :D" I didn't know there was a new show of the original series, so I thought she was talking about the 80s show which I couldn't stand when I was a kid. Whenever one of those toy commercials came on TV in the early 2000s, I would either turn off the TV, change the channel or tauntingly call it "My Stupid Pony". Immature, I know. Then one day, I was on a random YouTube video and in the comment section, I saw a positive comment from someone with a pony avatar, which I thought was some weird cartoon horse. And he'd gotten a boatload of replies saying stuff like "get lost, brony faggot". And I thought, "what the hell is a brony? Is that a misspelling of 'brownie'? Can't anyone spell ANYTHING right on the Internet nowadays?" But the fact that every reply mentioned this word made me so curious, I looked it up in case it was a thing. And I was shocked to discover this whole fandom of grown men creating artwork, making music and videos, writing fanfiction, chatting on forums, watching and actually liking this new show "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic". I certainly didn't HATE the show or its fanbase, I wasn't one of those trolls who went on a random pony video just to insult them in the comments. But it wasn't something that peaked my interest as something I really wanted to watch either, so I avoided it. But overtime, after Season 3 had ended and Equestria Girls has been released, my curiosity finally got the better of me so I looked up a few fanmade works and even watched a couple of clips from the show. And I thought, "Huh, it seems innocent, it actually doesn't seem annoying or stereotypically girly". So eventually in July of 2013, I finally said to myself: "Alright, I'll check out a few episodes and see what makes this show so great." So I got up some random episodes on my laptop (I remember the very first one I watched was A Dog And Pony Show and the very first song I heard was Bad Seed) and sat through them one by one. And I was pleasantly surprised to find myself actually enjoying them. So I said to myself "Y'know what? Maybe I'll marathon the whole series". So that's exactly what I did. I started from the very first episode and watched every single one late at night without my family knowing until I got to the Season 3 finale. And before I knew it, I ended up loving it. And once I finished watching the last episode of Season 3, I threw up my arms and said "I admit it, I'm excited for Season 4. I like this show." And now here I am, over 200 episodes later. :) FAVOURITE QUOTES “In many ways, the work of a critic is easy. We risk very little, yet enjoy a position over those who offer up their work and their selves to our judgement. We thrive on negative criticism which is fun to write and to read. But the bitter truth we critics must face is that, in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so. But there are times when a critics truly risks something. And that is in the discovery and defence of the new. The world is often unkind to new talent, new creations. The new needs friends." – Peter O’Toole "When I was a kid, I thought Zootopia was this perfect place where everyone got along and anyone could be anything. Turns out, real life's a little bit more complicated than a slogan on a bumper sticker. Real life is messy. We all have limitations. We all make mistakes. Which means, hey, glass half full. We all have a lot in common. And the more we try to understand one another, the more exceptional each of us will be. But we have to try. So no matter what type of animal you are, from the biggest elephant to our first fox, I implore you: Try. Try to make the world a better place. Look inside yourself and recognize that change starts with you. It starts with me. It starts with all of us." - Judy Hopps “There should be no boundary to human endeavour.” and "Intelligence is the ability to adapt to change." – Stephen Hawking “A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory.” – Leonard Nimoy “You’re dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway.” – Walt Disney “You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.” – Robin Williams "Do not wait to strike till the iron is hot; but make it hot by striking." - William Butler Yeats "I used to be embarrassed because I was just a comic-book writer while other people were building bridges or going on to medical courses. And then I began to realise: entertainment is one of the most important things in people's lives. Without it, they might go off the deep end. I feel that if you're able to entertain people, you're doing a good thing." - Stan Lee "Go into the arts. I'm not kidding. The arts are not a way to make a living. They are a very human way of making life more bearable. Practicing an art, no matter how well or badly, is a way to make your soul grow, for heaven's sake. Sing in the shower. Dance to the radio. Tell stories. Write a poem to a friend, even a lousy poem. Do it as well as you possibly can. You will get an enormous reward. You will have created something." - Kurt Vonnegut "None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Eat the delicious food. Walk in the sunshine. Jump in the ocean. Say the truth that you’re carrying in your heart like hidden treasure. Be silly. Be kind. Be weird. There’s no time for anything else." - Anthony Hopkins "If you think your teacher’s tough, wait ‘til you get a boss." – Bill Gates "If you have to explain a joke, there is no joke!" – The Joker "You can't just have your characters announce how they feel! That makes me feel angry!" - Robot Devil "Anytime someone calls attention to the breaking of gender roles, it ultimately undermines the concept of gender equality by implying that this is an exception and not the status quo." - Knuckles the Echidna "Best friends... you cry, I cry. You fight, I fight. You hurt, I hurt. You jump off a bridge... I get a paddle and save your retarded ass." – The Princess Rarity (A Kiss of Winter) "Fucking up is better than giving up." - DWK "If you wanna make the world a better place, take a look at yourself and make a change. Hoo." - Batman "It gets easier. Every day, it gets a little easier. But you gotta do it everyday. That's the hard part. But it does get easier." - Jogging Baboon IF YOUR LIFE WERE A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
