Funny 'til Someone Goes Turbo
Ted and Teddy snickered behind their hands as they approached the garage, the latter elbowing the other to get him to pipe down so that Turbo wouldn't get suspicious. The star racer was too busy shining his car up to notice that the two were acting strangely, so he just continued on as normal. Teddy cleared his throat to get his white-clad colleague's attention.
"Hey there, Turbs, ready for a full day of racing?" he asked him with a cheery smile, trying not to laugh.
Turbo had a scowl on his face upon hearing that and he went back to his activity of cleaning the windshield. "Puh, I doubt it'll be a full day. Not with everyone going over to RoadBlasters," he pouted, saying the name of the rival game in a whiny mocking voice as if it was the dumbest title ever.
Ted giggled softly and said, "Yeah, about those guys...we heard their star driver talking smack about you earlier."
Turbo stopped in mid-stroke, his hand paused on the windshield when he heard that. He then slowly turned his head towards the twins, who were trying hard to keep straight faces, Ted hiding somewhat behind his brother.
"Oh he did, did he?" Turbo responded darkly, his eyes flickering to the outside of the garage which happened to face the game screen to look at RoadBlasters' cabinet. There were already a couple of boys playing it, much to his dismay.
"Yeah, he was saying you were a has-been and a slow poke, and some stuff that I don't want to repeat," Teddy added, turning his head to bite his lip to sustain a giggle.
Turbo's yellow eyes flashed angrily and he threw his rag in the corner before hopping into his car.
"Oh yeah? I'll show him who's king of the track around here!" he growled, speeding off out of sight.
The twins finally allowed themselves to crack up, Ted falling on the floor on his back with his hands holding his stomach and Teddy leaning against a workbench with his head buried in his arms.
"Oh man, I can't believe he fell for that!"
"I bet he punches that guy and then gets in a big fight over it!"
"When you think we should tell him it's a joke?"
"Ah, he'll figure it out when the other guy acts like he doesn't know what he's talking about."
FIVE MINUTES LATER
The twins stood on top of their bleachers with a pair of binoculars, Teddy being the one to hold them at the time. Ted looked up at him worriedly, wringing his hands.
"Well?" he prompted his brother after he didn't say anything.
Teddy slowly put the binoculars down but still kept staring ahead at the Out of Order sign on RoadBlasters' screen.
"Ted...we really need to choose our jokes better."
Happy April Fool's Day, Turbo.
