Author has written 24 stories for Doctor Who, Rocket’s Island, Wizards vs. Aliens, Octonauts, Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Teen Titans, Batman: The Brave and the Bold, and Voltron: Legendary Defender. Here are some things about me: I am Christian but more specifically I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints. My favourite TV programmes are Wizards vs Aliens, Doctor Who (series 1-4), the Sarah Jane Adventures, Octonauts, Batman: The Animated Series, She Ra and the Princesses of Power, Teen Titans, Young Justice, Voltron: Legendary Defender, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Legend of Korra, the Dragon Prince, Carmen Sandiego, Steven Universe and Little Bear. My favourite films include the Corpse Bride, Edward Scissorhands, Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children, Robin Hood (Disney cartoon version), the AristoCats, 101 Dalmatians, How The Grinch Stole Christmas (60s cartoon version), Megamind, Kubo and the Two Strings, Coco and Prince Cinders. My favourite bands include the Carpenters, Jamiroquai, The Lighthouse Family and ELO and my favourite singers include Petula Clark, Dionne Warwick, Gloria Estefan and many more. Most of the songs I really like come from the 60s, 70s and 80s. My favourite songwriters are Michael McLean, David & Bacharah and Stock, Aitken & Waterman. My hobbies include writing (duh!), drawing, singing, reading fanfiction, making others laugh and cosplaying. My favourite books include the I Spy series by Jean Marzollo and Walter Wick and lots of picture books I grew up with, as well as fanfiction for my favourite films and shows. My stories: Wizards vs. Aliens This is one of my very favourite shows. If you haven't seen it, I'll give you this description: it's like the Sarah Jane Adventures and the first four seasons of Doctor Who, but with wizards. I love it so much, but sadly it was cancelled after three short series. Somewhat in consolation, I've written several fanfictions that serve as extra episodes. I've stuck to canon as best as I can. "Just An Illusion": This was my first foray into writing for the show and I still can't believe how many plotlines I was able to juggle when creating it. "Spanner In The Works": This was based on a conversation a friend and I had about what would happen if gremlins got onto the star ship Zarantulus. Funny fact - I made a giant mistake whilst writing this! There is a scene where Lexi cries in a zero gravity environment, but in reality you can't shed tears in space. I haven't edited this part out of the story, but please realise that I acknowledge my error. "The Wasa Mana Amulet": I came up with the idea for this story long before I wrote "Just An Illusion", but it took a while before I was able to develop it fully. "Hope For The Nekross": Based on an idea suggested by the friend whom I had the gremlins conversation with. I think this may be my favourite Wizards vs. Aliens fanfiction I've written. "The Bloodline Of Crowe": This always was going to be the follow-up to "Hope For The Nekross", but I ended up completing it two years later than I expected. Even so, I'm pleased with the result. Octonauts I'm a fan of this show too. Even though it's aimed at small children, the characterisation is brilliant and you always learn something new. With the fanfictions I wrote for this show, I decided to experiment by writing romance stories featuring a non-canon ship. I don't think I'll do that again though - I'm aware there are a lot of ship stories for every relationship conceivable (including many that are pretty inappropriate) in every fandom and I don't like to follow the crowd. I now stick to canon and almost canon ships. "Shellington's Big Day" and "Surprises For The Octonauts" are sequels to stories written by an Octo-buddy of mine called isobeljones2000. They are about the relationship between crew members Shellington and Dashi, who as I said, aren't a canon couple, but I thought they went well together. I also wrote another story called "The Octonauts' Crazy Christmas" which is just what it says on the tin. Teen Titans Though there are already tons of stories for this show on this site, I've tried to write fanfictions that are different to the others, which are mainly romance (though there are slight elements of it). I focus more on the villains of the show coming up with ingenious, funny and original schemes to accomplish their desires and outwit the Titans. The reason for this is I find that the few fanfictions on here focusing on the baddies usually try to copy plans they're already tried, which kind of irritates me, since I'm sure Mumbo would tell you that a good magician won't do the same trick twice, and the same applies for any type of supervillain! "And Now For My Next Trick...": I thought Mumbo Jumbo was a great baddy and wanted to write a story about him. It was really fun researching the magic tricks he used in this story! "Another British Invasion": My other favourite baddy is Mad Mod. I got the idea for this fanfiction when I heard someone use the term "British Invasion" and thought would make a perfect title for a story about him, before I came up with a brilliant idea of what it could be about... "Open Sesame!": The idea for this story came one day when, out of the blue, a picture of Mumbo wearing a turban and harem pants, riding on a magic carpet popped into my mind. Once I'd established it wasn't a scene from an episode, I thought it would make an awfully good idea for a fanfiction and the rest is history! "Darth Fanboy Strikes Back": Darth Fanboy has been my nickname for Control Freak ever since I first saw him on the show and I thought using it in the title for this story would be more than appropriate. Ever thought that the prices of merchandise at Comic Cons can be utterly ridiculous? Well, so does Control Freak and he's striking back as a result! NOTE: I actually found out sometime after I wrote this that there is a Teen Titans comic with a similar plot. This is pure coincidence but still pretty surprising! "From Jump City With Love": I've never watched Austin Powers, but it's pretty easy to work out that Mad Mod's appearance is based on him. That was the inspiration for this story, which pays homage to the spy genre popular in the 1960s, but despite being light-hearted as always, this fanfiction explores some slightly deeper themes than my previous Teen Titans works. Voltron: Legendary Defender My other very favourite show besides Wizards vs Aliens is the reboot of Voltron. It just astounds me how different the new version is to the old (I didn't start watching the original until I'd seen the reboot), with most of the characters undergoing complete personality changes and the plot becoming much more complex and believable. I love all the characters and am a sane anti-Shaladin (we do exist, guys!) - Shiro's a father figure to the Paladins, not their lover, and Lotor's only interested in Allura! "Gentleness": *SEASON 3 SPOILERS!* My hands-down favourite couple is Zarkon and Honerva. It will always amaze me that the writers took what sounded like the most ridiculous crack-ship you could imagine and turned it into a beautiful, tragic love story that impacts the entire plot of the show. This story is just a bit of AU fluff about what would have happened if Zarkon and Honerva's life had gone a different direction, with lots of family-centric cuteness. "Their Greatest Quest": *SEASON 6 SPOILERS!* You can blame Sam Holt for making me ship Team Punk. If it wasn't for him, this story would never have been born! Though Pidge and Hunk are still kids and don't seem interested in romance, his comments made me wonder if things would start to change when they're adults. This story is mostly set in the Monsters and Mana universe where the (now adult) pair's relationship has moved on quite a bit, which the real life Pidge and Hunk don't seem to be batting an eyelid at... "Their Greatest Miracles": The sequel to "Their Greatest Quest", continuing the story of Block and Meklavar's relationship. After the ending of the first story, I just couldn't leave it there - the universe I'd ended up creating had too much potential! "Totally Spaced Out": I wondered one day if the Galaxy Garrison required people to have their wisdom teeth removed before entering. The rest is history... "Flying Lesson": This is my first published work, which is pretty exciting, even if it was just featured in a limited, not-for-profit publication. You can find this Monsters and Mana short in the "Mint Lemonade" Team Punk charity zine from 2019. Other I love the character of Lydia Deetz in the Beetlejuice cartoon, but ironically I don't particularly like Beetlejuice himself or even the show all that much (though the puns can be funny!) Even so, I did write two stories for this programme - "Out Of This Neither-World" and "Black And White Submarine". "The Blue Beetle Catches A Bug": This one's for Batman: The Brave And The Bold and is about (you guessed it) the Blue Beetle, one of my favourite characters from the programme. I have also written a story for a fairly obscure children's show called Rocket's Island. It's about a foster home on a supposedly magical island and it's pretty good, but I think the formula got tired by season 3. My story is titled "The Balm Of Ballabungie" and it's one of the few fanfictions for the show on here. I've also written an Edward Scissorhands story - "Last Request" - and a very, very short Doctor Who story - "Chantho And Jabe's Letters". |
