While on rather boring and dull mission, D'Artagnan learns all the tips and lessons of being a good Musketeer. However, when Aramis is struck with a migraine, he will learn the most important one of all.

The first time the lash hit him was a shock. He had expected a little preamble from the men, but they seemed keen to get on with their entertainment. Aramis gasped, pain radiated out from wherever the thin knotted leather straps had struck his back and side. Several more blows were struck across his back in quick succession. He tried not to cry out, but he failed.

Going back was always hardest when you feared what you might find there. The musketeers jumped as the unmistakable sound of a pistol reached their ears as though it had been fired from some distance. They dashed from the cellar knowing immediately that the sound had come from where their brothers had been three floors above them...

Here is a story which will probably be my last fanfiction. It's d'Artagnan centered but, of course, the other three are very important and the events are seen through the eyes of everyone. I decided to explore their bond, their lives, their souls, through a collection of short stories, one for every chapter, focusing each on a single emotion. I also will follow the alphabetical order. Let's go with chapter 14: Pissed. Reviews are greatly appreciated, but prompts too :)

Sequel to Resurrection. While the reasons behind the attack on the garrison remain unknown, Treville suspects that there was more at play. Meanwhile, with the help of his two new friends, Aramis struggles to leave René behind and become, once more, Aramis. The shadows of Savoy, however, still have a very long reach.

Porthos has a hard time getting past his feelings of abandonment and betrayal when Aramis returns to them after four years. Perhaps things would never be the same... A reconciliation of sorts. Speculation for the season 3 premiere.

The Inseparables ride to retrieve Aramis from the abbey, only to find he is not there. Obviously, Aramis never reached Douai at all. Despite knowing there's something amiss, they have to return to Paris without their fourth. Do they have to go to war without their brother or will they be able to search and find him in time? Meanwhile, Aramis is on the verge of losing his life...

Aramis is concussed. Porthos carries him home.

S2, after Through a Glass Darkly. Out of favor with the King, Treville and d'Artagnan are assigned to transport prisoners to Soissons. When their party is ambushed, Rochefort sends the Red Guard after the prisoners under the guise of protecting the King. But the Inseparables mount their own, dangerous rescue, brotherhood holding more importance than a a doomed outcome.

A mission gone sour. A pursuit through the trees. Hounded by would be assasins will the Musketeers make it back to Paris in one piece, or will complete exhaustion itself be the death of them?

It's an ordinary rainy day for the Musketeers until a convicted killer- with a connection to Aramis- is reported to have escaped from prison. Tasked with finding him, they managed to trap him in the catacombs beneath the city streets. As they venture down to find him things go from bad to worse... will the hunters become the hunted? Lots of whump and caring!brothers. R&R?

or...When Aramis was kidnapped and left to die in the snow. Set a few months pre-d'Artagnan. Enough brotherly bonds to warm your heart. (Rated T for some blood, non-graphic remembrance of kidnapping,injuries, and thematic elements) Will post in completion before New Years Eve.

The Musketeers' world is rocked when a tragedy befalls them that may change their entire future. While Aramis tries to adjusts to his new reality, they are caught up in a mystery involving the disappearance of the King's gold.

This is for the Fête des Mousquetaires December's challenge with the seasonal theme of "Frozen." The four musketeers have an assignment that leaves them a bit frozen until they figure out the real reason and then it melts their hearts.

Paris, May 1625. Three lost souls meet by chance. None of them suspects yet that this is the beginning of a friendship, a friendship that will gain them the name "The Inseparables".

"Then why are you here?" Wasn't that the question? The thing that had plagued him for weeks before he left the monastery and the weeks since his return. He didn't have a simple answer. Perhaps it was a mercy they had not pressed him for a reason sooner than this. They had just welcomed him back. He didn't deserve for it to be so easy.

Aramis went to the monastery to find peace in the choices he made in his past. But when circumstances bring our Inseparables back together 4 years later, will his fear of the future keep him from making peace with his past?

Easter 1627, two years after the massacre at Savoy. Aramis is struggling with his memories and is shocked to discover that everyone has seemed to have forgotten about the massacre and their lost brothers. Even Athos and Porthos. Aramis feels left out and alone, do his best friends even consider him a friend now? He couldn't blame them, he couldn't even save one brother at Savoy.

Lost and injured on a river bank, two brothers wait for rescue.

This was not a wound that would heal. Aramis knew he was a condemned man, the ax hovering over his neck. But he would be damned if he didn't keep fighting until the last second.

Complete. Aramis centred and whump heavy. Aramis arrives at the Boncieux home late one night during a storm; soaking wet and disoriented. While his brothers try to figure out what happened and why, Aramis finds himself dealing with a different problem... his body is betraying him, and he questions whether or not he can still have a future with the Musketeers.

Four days ago, Aramis disappeared, but they're like magnets, these men. They will always find each other and they will defend each other to the death if necessary. General all round whump but mostly Aramis and d'Artagnan.

A writing exercise about a training exercise, says it all really! Yes it's another Savoy story, told mainly from the point of view of Athos and Aramis. This is my first ever fanfic, please be gentle!

The journey from Paris to the border takes at least two days. Athos, D'Artagnan and Constance leave the capital on the day after Aramis is taken prisoner. That leaves five days of Aramis' plight in that prison cell unaccounted for. This is what happened in that time.

An ambush on the edge of a frozen lake takes things from bad to worse.

When the war with the Spanish hits a little too close to home, Athos is torn between duty and friendship.

He'd fallen from his horse yesterday, the poor beast stumbling badly and Aramis ending up beneath the animal as it landed and rolled over his right leg.

A what-if vignette of sorts, set after the end of the second season. Aramis has been reclaimed, war declared. They encamp in wait for the opening salvos in a hotly contested area of both French and Spanish claim. The four bond, especially glad to be together again in these calm-before-the-storm-moments.

"I thought I would go to Hell and back for you, slay the demon hoards if need be, and I told you as much on a number of occasions. But I broke that promise."

Aramis thought he was safe from the war until the day the Spanish came.

AU. A young Musketeer recruit, Aramis(early 20s) is going solo to deliver a letter to the Ruling Lord in Lupiac, Gascony. In the company of a young lad(d'Artagnan, about 13) from a neighboring farm, the pair run into unexpected trouble on the road. Includes/Warning: Implied child perversion, implied rape of a woman, sexual fantasy, violence, whump!, family. R&R!

"Ah, yes," Aramis gave a small nod, taking a drink of his wine to soothe his smoke-ravaged throat. "It was a case of mistaken identity." Takes place near the end of season 1.

Teasing Porthos is NEVER a good idea. But, playing the part of the impulsive fool, Aramis decides to find this lesson out the hard way -and ends up suffering from a 'playful' injury. The result of which he chooses to hide from his brothers. This was perhaps one of the dumbest decisions the medic had made in some time. *Hilarity and h/c will ensue ;)*

One wrong punch and Aramis' life is made a living hell. But it's his own stubbornness that could be his downfall. Set before 1.08.

During one of the most vivid heat waves in memory, one of the boys finds himself losing hope trapped in a cell that resembles an oven.

It's early winter in the south of France. Athos and Porthos find themselves stuck in a swamp while trying to rescue their horses from bandits who may or may not be simple horse thieves. Aramis and d'Artagnan stand a valiant defense of their mired friends and all of them pay with various levels of injury and regret. -Complete.

On mission, while camped in the woods, Aramis returns to a behavior Athos and Porthos thought he was done with. They figure things could turn out all right, just so long as they can keep him from stabbing anyone, himself included. 4/4

The Musketeers are sent on a mission to the border with Spain. Peril awaits them due to the scheming of Rochefort.

Somebody from the 'inseparables' past comes back to get his revenge, with his sights set on two musketeers in particular. (I really dont know what to write as a summary but please read anyway)

When the Musketeers are charged with escorting the Queen on an important journey, they find themselves in the one place Aramis never wanted to see again - Savoy. My wonderful beta sharlot requested an Annamis story, so here it is with a lot of Aramis!Whump and a touch of Hurt!d'Artagnan tossed in for good measure.

Following on from 2x06, a worried Porthos cares for his injured best friend Aramis, thinking on how lucky they are for Aramis to still be with them. The title comes from the quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson; "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall". I dunno why but I thought the quote just seemed to fit for Aramis in 2x06

Does exactly what it says on the tin (though within the framework of friendship, not slash). Written for the kinkmeme prompt "Five times Aramis told Athos he loves him and one time Athos finally declared his feelings to him". OP kindly indulged my inclination to write it as BroT3/BroT4 friendship instead of Athos/Aramis romance.

Tag to S2E6 Through A Glass Darkly. "They had called it a night hours ago, and yet Porthos found he couldn't tear his gaze away from the steady rise and fall of Aramis' chest. Aramis does not like the cold anymore. The others have made it their mission to shield him from it.

Musketeers don't do anything in half-measures—including falling sick. Luckily, they take care of each other really well.

Following on from the end of 2x01 so spoilers! Aramis struggles to come to terms with what he has been shown, Athos and Porthos just try to help him through his grief and show him that his friendship is a blessing not a curse.

Aramis and Athos are taken hostage; somehow, that's the easy part. Sequel to Winter, Late in Leaving. Set a few months after the massacre at Savoy, early in the boys' friendship.

We all know our Musketeers are good with swords and guns - but what of their other talents? What are they secretly or surprisingly good at? Each of the four Musketeers has their own chapter. 1: d'Artagnan - Whittling. 2: Aramis - Children. 3: Athos - Ballroom Dancing. 4: Porthos - Cooking

The Inseparables are asked to go to Savoy on request of their King to pick up his sister, the Duchess, and escort her and her son back to Paris. The others are all worried about Aramis, as he hasn't been back to the city ever since the massacre of Savoy, but nevertheless he refuses to remain at home while his closest friends risk their lives. Not a sequel to my other fictions.

Athos, Porthos, and Aramis are so familiar with each others' old injuries they look after them for each other without talking about it. They don't need to.

Aramis makes a mistake and it tears the brotherhood apart.

"At the end of it all, what do we have?" A short exploration of how our Musketeers define honour. A smidge of d'Artagnan/Porthos at the end.

Chap 1: 'The situation was so similar to the nightmare he had survived five years ago, he couldn't think about anything else. Another troop of Musketeers had suffered when snow covered the land. For some reason he knew they would not find Cornay alive.' Chap 2: With Savoy's arrival Aramis is reminded of the horrors of a snow covered forest, Marsac brings hope of achieving justice.

"We're protecting him, but he won't thank us for it. He'll see it as betrayal."

Just a simple mission...gone very awry. When their field medic is put out of commission, who will pick up the needle and wield it in his stead? Plenty of brotherly banter and more than a little hurt/comfort.

Marsac may be at rest now but Aramis is not. But like Marsac, Aramis also is with his brothers and they will see him through. Tag to 1.04 – The Good Soldier; mild spoilers for that episode and very vague references to 1.03 as well.

Set S1, between episodes 3, Commodities, and 4, Good Soldier. A voluntary mission turns d'Artagnan from a wayward recruit into a Musketeer in all but name. However, first things go very, very wrong. As they do. And the men are pushed to their limits to keep their brotherhood intact.

When the musketeers discover that an attack made against the Cardinal is not a robbery as it appears to be, the four, as well as Captain Treville, must work together to figure out and put an end to the attackers' real plans. Trouble finds the musketeers, mainly Aramis, as they try to find the truth. This is a sequel to my other story, Love is the Most Selfish of All the Passions.

The three Musketeers are up for a new mission! Join Athos, Porthos, Aramis and D'Artagnan in another adventure in which what seemed to be an ordinary task for the King's soldiers will quickly go tragically wrong... Rated T because of violence and a little torture scene in Chapter 8

Five times Porthos helps Aramis through various sticky situations. Each time Aramis tells Porthos to leave him behind and each time Porthos must convince his friend that he will never leave Aramis behind. And the one time Aramis finally understands Porthos does not abandon his friends, no matter what mess they get into.

Set post S1. It's an unwritten rule of the Musketeers not to delve too deeply into another man's past; it's simply enough to be one of the brotherhood. But when their Captain goes missing, the Musketeers realize the only way to save him is to learn what he's kept hidden for so long. And these men would willingly go through Hell to rescue the man who at one time saved them all.

It was a completely normal morning for Elisabetta until a Musketeer wanders into her garden and collapses from mysterious injuries. Who is this man and will she be able to save not only his body but his wounded heart as well. Set before show. I suck at summaries. Aramis/OC Rated T for minor gore.

April of 1625 had been one of the hardest months of Porthos' life. But in a strange way, it had probably been one of the best as well. Savoy-centric origin story, in which Aramis is grieving, Porthos is a saint, and Athos just kind of shows up, eventually.

Aramis had awakened multiple times and, aside from the lapses in short-term memory, seemed to be intact mentally, but his friends were no less worried about him. Tag to 1.09 Knight Takes Queen.

What could possibly happen when the four Musketeers have to be on the road for a longer period of time, guiding a criminal back to Paris? A combination of brotherhood, fluff, angst, a lot of trouble, comical relief, drunk Athos and fish. No slash. Set after finale. Contain spoilers. (Started as a fluff-story but I got bored, so now everyone is angsty and hurting, wops!)

Soldiers follow orders, no matter where they lead. Even if they lead to death. d'Artagnan discovers how far he is willing to go to save his brothers. Set sometime after d'Artagnan receives his commission (post 1.09, Knight Takes a Queen).

Richelieu and the newest captain of his guards, Count de Rochefort, come up with a plot to destroy Aramis because of the musketeer's act of loving Adele so she'd betray him, as well as in hope of eventually bringing down Queen Anne before she can expose the Cardinal's treasons to the King, without exposing her own secret to Louis. Takes place directly after the season one finale.

When Aramis was 16 he rescued a girl from the pyre. Now it might be time to face the consequences. Who is attacking musketeers? What is the Cardinal plotting? What is the true cost of saving a life?

When the Musketeers are captured by a criminal cartel operating out of an unstable cave system, Athos is forced to make a difficult decision. Can he bring himself to leave two brothers behind? And how will they fare when the consequences come crashing down around them? No slash unless you squint.

It had been said that musketeers did not die easily. They fell like autumn leaves that day... Five years later Aramis still struggles with the aftermath of the Savoy massacre. But he does not struggle alone.

In which things are not quite as they seem. Or, three of our Musketeers plot to get the forth one out of parade duty during a heatwave. (Friendship h/c team fic.)

AU WWI verse, Porthos takes the opportunity the war brings to explore what lies beyond the village where he and Aramis grew up. Aramis wants nothing more than to stay on his family's farm in peace. But at age 18 they must face the perils of war and try to survive the years they spend in the trenches. (The title is taken from Owen Seamen's poem Pro Patria).

Five one-shots of whumpage and brotherly fluffiness as our Musketeers try to get some sleep and are disturbed.

After Commodities, haunted by the ghosts of his past and believing it to be the best thing for his brothers, Athos leaves. Porthos and Aramis set out immediately to bring him back.

When d'Artagnan experiences a close call that leaves him shaken, the other Musketeers reminisce about times they, too, believed they faced death alone.

It was a simple mission. Nobody was meant to get hurt. When Porthos gets captured, Aramis has to deal with the alleged death of his brother in all but blood. Aramis and Porthos both have to be strong, but in different ways.

In the darkest hours, when they want to act, but can't, the burn of anxiety and anger has to go somewhere. Meme fill for the prompt: nervous habits.

The Musketeers are winding down after another successful mission when the one of the group is targeted by a mysterious group of armed bandits. With one of them badly injured and no chance of rescue, will they escape? And who is trying to kill them?

Spans from when Porthos and Aramis first met, through to the series. Being a Musketeer means many things, a loyal brotherhood, good friends, great adventures and of course the odd injury.

Kinda can't believe I'm writing one of these, but... Five times Athos had to rein Aramis in and one time it was the other way around.

When the king's delegation to a province is ambushed on the road it leads the musketeers on a quest to find the man who would attack a king, terrorise villages and murder their brothers.

After Aramis sleeps with Anne, he promises Athos that he'll stay away from women for a while. Problem is, Aramis can't sleep by himself. He's managed to keep this hidden through the years, but in fulfilling his promise to Athos, the insomnia takes over, sending him deeper and deeper into the hole while the others try to figure out what's wrong. Prompt Meme Fill.

This is just something to get all the ideas out of my head: introspective character studies, filling of plot holes, humorous shenanigans, epic bromances, you'll find it all here. Aramis can't recall how he got that scar on his head. He only knows because Porthos remembers the day very well. Athos, however, pretends to have forgotten; he can hardly bare to look at that scar because he knows, he hates, that he was the one to put it there. No slash. Athos finds D'Artagnan just after he leaves Treville's office and offers him his sympathy for the loss of his farm. There had been whispers and rumors of dissidents gathering a force in Doue. Treville had ordered them to investigate. They'd been pointed to this country estate by a barkeep in town, but it looked quiet and empty. Which made Athos uneasy.

When Aramis is lost during a harrowing mission, D'Artagnan learns a secret Aramis and Porthos have been keeping from him. Or, D'Artagnan must be blind not to have noticed this before and Aramis gets hurt a lot. Sequel up!
