Dimension cannons are quite linear. They can get you anywhere and anywhen in a different universe. But once there, you should stay there and abstain from time travel or they can't take you back. This provides Rose the chance to stay with the Doctor when her dimension cannon dies on her after landing in a paradox and having it broken around her, leaving her a year in the past.

Gwaine just wanted to offer Merlin relief from sexual frustration Arthur caused, assured him that they'd only do it if and when Merlin wanted. Surely, he told himself, Gwaine could overlook his affections and help out. Now, as Merlin moans into Gwaine's mouth, Gwaine wonders how he ever believed he could be anything but screwed-in both senses of the word. (Endgame Merwainethur)

The prophecy was clear. The Doctor's song would end that day. But the Master didn't know that, and even if he had, he had never been one to follow rules anyway. It fills him to the brim and carries on, washing over him in waves that scald, and, as Arthur looks around him at the carnage, the man at its centre, he has no idea how he is ever meant to let go of it.

Soulmates can only be discovered through physical touch and both Steve Rogers and Anthony Stark have given up on finding their bonded. But that's before they meet, before Tony decides to put his hand on Steve's shoulder. Fury probably didn't see this coming when he assembled the avengers for the first time.

While Coulson's recovering from being stabbed in the chest by a magical spear, Fury is rapidly running out of Agents willing to play babysitter for the newly founded Avengers. So he calls in Captain John Watson, late of the British Royal Army, and blogger and best friend to the infamously antisocial presumably deceased Sherlock Holmes.

Harry is pushed through the Veil, on the other side he meets an angel, and then a Doctor. Doctor/Harry slash.
