I always thought Light was messed up even in the beginning. No friends, no social life to speak of and no permanent girlfriends. Such a high achieving student as well. He probably was depressed. Lots of highly intelligent students become that way. Also, if he was very much aware that he was messed up, I think it would have affected his actions. Also the simple fact that my Light is a girl has huge ramifications for the story. Light from Death Note did not have any run-ins with real criminals. My fic tries to change that slightly too.

Why is my Light gender-bent?

Because I love gender-bent Light. There are too few stories about Fem!Light and L.

Do I not read yaoi?

Of course I do. But I'm just not good at writing it.
