Oi! Hi again! Well, I know I haven't updated any of my stories recently, but you can blame that on my muses. And yes, I now have two instead of one... drum roll

Gyouza seems to be on a vacation in my mind... though, did anyone see the new DBGT episodes? On toonami? I am a little weary of them... I like the japanese verion better.

I'm becoming more and more obsessed with HP, ecspecially Severitus challenge fanfictions... they're great.

Anyone notice the countless puns and analyzation in the HP books... I have just noticed and am heavily excited.

Goal: To meet my mentor and the class.

Activities: Today I met my mentor, Mrs. Jerger, and her class. We read a book called
House on the Beach, which is dedicated to Scarlett LaCava, my mother. After reading the
novel, the kids had recess and I participated with them playing a card game called 'Skat'.
Later, I was called down to the office where I met my mother. She informed me of the class
outside of Chapman. She informed me of this class because the woman killed is my sister's
best friend's mother. And we are good friends with the family. After that, I took down paper
letters and papers on the classroom's wall. Then I began to hang up posters promoting the
"Read across America" becuase they were having their Reading day tomorrow. The kids were
informed with the accident and a young girl in our class began to cry because she knew both
Chisaki and Koga from Japanese School. Mrs. Jerger brought her to the guidance office.
After that the children went home and I stayed with Mrs. Jerger for a little while during
a Teacher Meeting. Later she told me that I should go home because of the accident and my
family.

Learnings: I learned how to deal with emotional situations with children. I also learned
how to deal with these emotional situations myself while I am with the children. I learnt
how to grade their extra credit, Top Five Times for Kids, handouts. I also learned where one
should put up posters around the school. I learnt where the Teacher's Lounge is and where
Mrs. Jerger's classroom is. I also met the class and learnt that many of the children I
baby-sit are in the class along with children who know me because of either my mother's
work or through my sister and brother. I learnt the names of the other fifth grade teacher's
and of the daily routine. I learnt what I should wear from now on to class, what
Mrs. Jerger refers to as "Casually Cute", which are clothes that are both very functional
for working with children and professional at the same time. I learnt that children in
Mrs. Jerger's class have Enrichment on Tuesday's at 2:45 and I will shadow the teacher of
that soon. I also learnt that I will be able to shadow other grades, such as 2nd and 4th.
I learnt Mrs. Jerger's attention grabber for the children, 'Give me Five'. Which means the
children have to keep their hands quiet, sit up straight, their mouths close, eyes alert,
and ear listening. After that I learnt where the children store their backpacks and
outerwear and supplies. I also learnt about Mrs. Jerger's extra credit system. In all, I
learnt the teacher's daily routine, I met the children, and I learnt about my mentor.

I thought that this news article “More Profit with Less Carbon” was very idealistic. Dr. Lovins, the author of this article, kept repeating that in 2050 if the government was to take the right choice and convert to renewable energy sources, then the rest of society will follow. But, firstly, I do not think that our government’s top priority is the environment.. Our government is more concerned with spreading democracy and capitalism than worrying about the environment and the amount of carbon we are pumping into the atmosphere. Lovins’ states that utilizing renewable resources would in the long run be cheaper than using fossil fuels such as coal and oil as our main source of energy, but these resources are costly in the beginning. Another point to take into account is the fact that even if we are to start putting more hybrid models and new “lighter-but-stronger” cars on the market there will still be old cars on the roads that use fossil fuels. We will still need to keep refineries and oil fields and petroleum plants because oil will still be in demand. Another aspect to take into account is the idea of Supply and Demand. At this current time the demand for oil is increasing every day and the supply is slowly running out, but until we do eventually run out of oil most people will not take action in implementing these new ideas. As stated before if fossil fuels are still available than America and the rest of the world will buy these energy sources and until we run out society will not think of finding and utilizing other resources. Most people feel that if it does not affect them now, than it never will. That is why I feel that Lovin’s article is to idealistic to actually come into effect at least at the dates he predicts. Until we absolutely need to start finding new resources America and others are fine with using fossil fuels as resources even though they are destroying our environment, rising in costs, and running out.
