Favorite movie qoutes (because there are too many book ones): "A ship isn't just a keel and hull and a deck and sails, that's what a ship needs... But what a ship is, or what the Black Pearl really is... is freedom" -Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl) "I can't go all my life waiting to catch you between husbands." -Rhett Butler (Gone with the Wind) "Here's looking at you, kid." -Rick Blaine (Casablaca) "It should take you exactly four seconds to get to that door. I'll give you two" -Holly Golightly (Breakfast at Tiffany's) "To see if she is morally, ethically, spiritually, physically, positively, absolutely, undeniably and reliably dead... And she's not only merely dead, she's really most sincerely dead!" -Wizard of Oz "I think we've all arrived at a very special place, aye? Spiritually? Ecumenically? Gramatically?" -Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl) "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn." -Rhett Butler (Gone with the Wind) "He's no tower of strength, he's just a tower." -(Philadelphia Story) "The love impulse in men frequently reveals itself in terms of conflict." -Susan Banks (Bringing Up Baby) "I'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog, too!" -the Wicked Witch of the West (Wizard of Oz) "Such a lot of guns around town and so few brains!" -Philip Marlowe (The Big Sleep) "It has been ten years since I elected myself president of this company, and if I do say so myself, you gentelmen made a very good choise." -Some Like It Hot "Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine." -Rick Blaine (Casablanca) "Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." -Dorothy Gale (Wizard of Oz) "You need kissing badly. That's what's wrong with you. You should be kissed and ofted by someone who knows how." -Rhett Butler (Gone with the Wind) "It took God six days to create the earth and Monty Python just 1 hour and 48 minutes to screw it up." -the back of Monty Python's Meaning of Life "I know my wife isn't very beautiful, or interesting, or educated, but on the other hand... I can't think of anything." -Monty Python episode "We dream on a budget here." -James Barrie (Finding Neverland) "Don't you find it a little cold out here without a gun?!" -(Bringing up Baby) "I have a weakness for lost causes once they're really lost." -Rhett Butler (Gone with the Wind) "I will not have my fwends widiculed by the common soldiewy!" -Pontius Pilate (Life of Brian) "I wanna see what love looks like when it's triumphant. I haven't had a good laugh in a week." -Peter Warne (It Happened One Night) "We need a miracle. Unfortunately, the Nazis have outlawed miracles." -(Casablanca) I have made an absolutely amazing discovery! I found out that Sparrabethers aren't evil, and that they have wonderful stories too! No, I don't support their ship now, but I have to say, they can be just as amazing as Willabethers! I will always support Willabeth... but another angle can be interesting. By the way, if anyone ever has a question about this, I don't write Jack with dialect. The story behind it is extensive. Not really, but anyways. One day, I was reading a very good book called Wuthering Heights. The only problem I had with that book was that there were people speaking with Yorkshire accents sometimes. Let's put it this way, it took me about ten minutes of figure out one sentence, if I figured it out at all. I actually remember my friend looking at it and saying "Is that English?" I'm pretty sure I said, "I'm not so sure." So, by the time I finished that book, I vowed that I would never write anything in dialect, mostly in order to avoid getting a huge headache. |
