There he meets Jack, but the life of a newsie is noisy which triggers his anxiety. He eventually meets Jojo who helps to feel like he fits in and to manage his anxiety. Mute: Nonverbal, first introduced in Trapped. He later finds Blaze who can understand sign language. Clouds: Race's twin brother who was blind. He dies after becoming very sick when they are both four. First introduced Running. Ellie: Leader of Brooklyn newsies before Spot. First introduced in Reverie when Katherine goes looking for more info. on the riots in Brooklyn Bulldog: Leader of Manhattan newsies before Jack, first introduced in Teach Me Skip: first introduced in 1899 or Bust. Is a friend of Squirt's and is honestly terrified of Spot Conlon. Earned his nickname for a tendency to skip over important things like buying papers before going to sell Pepper: First introduced in 1899 or Bust, earned his nickname for his spicy attitude, and likelihood to get into a fight. Spot is always having to bail him out.
