![]() Author has written 50 stories for Chronicles of Narnia, Lord of the Rings, Lloyd Alexander, Star Wars, Queen's Thief series, Merlin, and Squire's Tales, Gerald Morris. A battle is being fought. Here, now, in this very hour. A battle between good and evil, between light and darkness. A battle that will eventually be won by the Light. Which side are you on? I am called Caspian the Seafarer. I am on the side of the One True King. He is known by many names: Aslan in Narnia, Eru in Middle Earth, and so many more. In this world, too, He has many names. Do you know Him here? He is sometimes called a Lion and sometimes a Lamb. He is the Son of the Great "Emperor-beyond-the-sea". He created this world. He died for those who betrayed Him; gave His life so that they might be free to live with Him forever. He is at the back of all the stories; He is the Author of life. He watches over us in our darkest hour. Even when we cannot hear His voice, and He seems to have disappeared, He is there...watching us and protecting us between his "paws". And He will return, one day, to defeat evil for good, and bring His Kingdom into glory. Do you know his name? If not, send me a message. It would be my honor to tell you. A little bit about me: Greetings, noble reader. I am a college student who writes in fits and spurts, and have chosen the somewhat unoriginal "King Caspian the Seafarer" as my penname because Caspian is my favorite character. I often go by KC. Now we must get something straight: the Caspian in the books (and my imagination) does not look anything like Ben Barnes. Book-Caspian is blond and has a British accent. Just to be clear on that. ;) I am a Christian as well as a Narnian, so any Christian themes you notice in my stories are actually very real and important to me. As a Christian, I believe that Jesus is the One and Only Son of God, that He came to earth and died on the cross to free us of our sins, rose from the dead on the third day, and went to heaven to be with God. I believe that He is the Only Way to Heaven, and that He was and is the Messiah. I also believe that everything the Bible says is true, and my purpose, more than being simply a writer or a Narnian, is to Seek God "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes." Romans 1:16 Recommended Authors Some of my favorite authors (all of whom I would highly recommend!) are C.S. Lewis (from whom I can choose no favorite book...though the Chronicles, Screwtape Letters, and Till We Have Faces are all favorites) J.R.R. Tolkien (The Two Towers) Lloyd Alexander, (Westmark Trilogy, the First Two Lives of Lukas Kasha) Rosemary Sutcliff, (Eagle of the Ninth, the Shining Company, Bonnie Dundee, Mark of the Horse Lord) (actually, just all of them) Edith Nesbit, (The Story of the Treasure Seekers and anything with the Bastables!) L.M. Montgomery (Emily of New Moon, the Story Girl, Anne of Green Gables) Megan Whalen Turner, (the Thief, The Queen of Attolia, The King of Attolia, A Conspiracy of Kings) Gerald Morris, (the Savage Damsel and the Dwarf, which is part of an excellent series) Hinds Feet on High Places by Hannah Hurnard, G.K. Chesterton's poetry, and the Blue Sword by Robin McKinley are some other favorites, but... My favorite book is the Bible. Other stories can be ways of escaping from this world while often equipping us with virtue and courage as we grow alongside the characters, but in the Bible, we find Words of Truth, inspired Directly By God. There is no greater source of courage or hope to be found. Favorite Quotes "He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." Jim Eliot, Missionary Courage is not one of the virtues. Courage is every one of the virtues at it's testing point. -C. S. Lewis "You remember the fairy stories that you were told when you were very small--'Once upon a time...' why do you think they always began like that?" "Because they weren't true," Simon said promptly. ." Jane said, caught up in the unreality of the high remote place, "Because perhaps they were true once, but nobody could remember when." Great uncle Merry turned his head and smiled at her. "That's right. Once upon a time...a long time ago...things that happened once, perhaps, but have been talked about for so long that nobody really knows. And underneath all the bits that people have added, the magic swords and lamps, they're all about one thing - the good hero fighting the giant, or the witch, or the wicked uncle. Good against bad. Good against evil." From Over Sea and Under Stone by Susan Cooper "Greater love hath no man than this--that he would lay down his life for a friend." John 15:12 "You speak treason!" (Marion) "Fluently." (Robin) Robin Hood, Errol Flynn version If an advisor says to me "My liege, he is but one man. What can one man possibly do?" I will reply "This." and kill the adviser. Evil Overlord List ;) "And you must always remember, there's one good thing about being stuck down here in Underland: It'll save funeral expenses." Puddleglum the Marshwiggle (SC) "When the darkness crowds beyond the door, and the logs on the hearth burn clear red and fall in upon them, making caverns and ships and swords and dragons and strange faces in the heart of the fire, that is the time for story telling." -The Road to Camlann, Rosemary Sutcliff "Let those who love us love us. And those who do not love us let God turn their ankles so we may know them by their limping." -An Old Irish Proverb May the Lion be with you, KC |
