Author has written 4 stories for Chronicles of Narnia. Update as of 10/20/2017: Oh, wow, hello reader, I didn't drop off the face of the earth! ;) So much has changed since I made this account. (Y'all, it's almost been 10 years since I published my first story!) I graduated high school, earned my college degree, and am engaged to be married to the love of my life in December 2017. I've grown in character, faith, and as an artist; developed a love for travel and other cultures; and have lived in 4 different states. Due to the fact that I will soon be the wife of a U.S. Navy Officer and will be spending a considerable amount of time by myself in the future, it is my intention to attempt to resurrect the stories that I abandoned so long ago. I don't know how successful I will be, as I know my writing voice has likely changed in these years, but I have to try. Greetings, and welcome to my profile page! I am Lady Jill Pole, and here is where I shall proceed to tell you some things about myself. I am a follower of Christ. I adore books. Chocolate (especially of the truffle variety!) is something I love. My family consists of my parents, my twin sisters, my three brothers, and our large and lively Bernese Mountain Dog, Kershaw. Soon to be added to the family: my fiance, Andrew! My fiance left in September for Navy Officer Candidate School, and he'll be there until December, shortly before our wedding. It is weird being barely able to communicate, and I am so thankful for all of the people in my life - family, friends, and fellow Navy/military SO's - who are supporting both of us during this crazy and sometimes lonely adventure. I am the eldest of my siblings. I am usually quiet and reserved when in a public situation with strangers or people I don't know very well, or in groups, but I'll talk your ear off if we're one-on-one and I'm comfortable with you. Most things I write tend to end up longer than I originally intend them to be. (Hence the chapters in TBF that are over 4000 words long...) Ceramics, crocheting, knitting, sewing, jewelry-making, drawing, writing... these are some things I enjoy doing. I am a supporter of adoption... it is a beautiful picture of how God takes us into his family when we put our faith in him. Two of my brothers are adopted, and it is incredible to see God's work in their lives and on the lives of the rest of my family through them. I am adventurous. I love whitewater river rafting and ziplining, and someday I may bungee-jump. (As of yet, I haven't been presented with the opportunity to do the last.) Exploring in the woods is a wonderful way to spend a day, and even more so if you have family members or friends with you. :) I love to travel and see new places, and in the summer of 2010 I had the opportunity to cross my beautiful country's border to Canada. However, my first "real" trip out of the country was in April, 2011, when I flew overseas with my cousin (Queen Su) and my grandma to London, England and Israel. Throughout my life, I have travelled extensively within the U.S.A., having visited or driven through well over half of the individual states. I have since visited Turkey, Greece, China, and Spain. I don't like ordering unfamiliar food when I'm eating out. I usually find one or two things that I like at a restaurant, and then order the same thing every time I go. However, if someone else orders for me, I am happy to try something new! Even with all this country's flaws, I am 100% glad to be a citizen of the United States of America. I am proud of and thankful to all members of our armed forces who make so many sacrifices to serve and protect lives and freedom. (But the Navy is the best.) ;) I would describe myself as a good balance between a girly-girl and a tomboy. I love to dress up, look nice, and do "girly" things. However, I am not afraid of mice, don't have to call on one of the men in my life to dispatch the occasional creepy-crawly (I'll take care of that spider myself, thank you very much!), and don't mind doing things that would make me sweat or get messy. Need a jump to your car or a headlight replaced? I'm your girl! Chivalry is a trait that I think is underappreciated in our society. Peregrine falcons and penguins are my favorite birds. A bit different from each other, aren't they? :) I love to take pictures of the sky. The sky is God's canvas, and he is always creating a new work of art for the world to see. Gorgeous cloud formations and stunning sunsets are so much fun to capture on my digital camera! (I have yet to catch a sunrise; I'm rarely up early enough...) Books and authors that I have enjoyed and would recommend... Fictional Books: The Dragons in Our Midst and the Oracles of Fire series by Bryan Davis, The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis, and June Bug by Chris Fabry. Authors: All of the afore-mentioned authors, Bodie and Brock Thoene (they've written a lot), Sigmund Brouwer, G. A. Henty, and Terri Blackstock. For non-fictional books, I recommend Radical by David Platt and Crazy Love by Francis Chan. And of course, last but certainly not least, the Bible. I am a perfectionist, and I believe the trait is both a gift and a curse. Procrastination is, unfortunately, one of my greatest weaknesses. I love music, and I love to sing. I can play the piano, and I'm learning to play the ocarina. Someday I hope to take guitar lessons. Andrew and I have been active in helping lead worship at our church - let me tell you, it is icing on the cake that my soon-to-be husband can sing and play guitar and keyboard and that we can make music in praise to the Lord together! I'm not sure how I would describe my writing style. I enjoy writing dialogue (sometimes I think I do too much of it). I haven't written much action yet, but that should crop up soon in TBF, so we'll see how that goes. I'm decent at description. My favorite punctuation mark is probably either the semicolon or the comma; I have a feeling that I actually use them too much when I write. I edit and proofread my own writing (I don't have a beta). My writing usually has perfect spelling (one of my strengths, and I always use spellcheck just in case) and my grammar is generally pretty clean as well. Sometimes I like to take ideas for my stories from things that have happened in my life or a family member's. My favorite cartoon character is Snoopy from Peanuts, and I have enough Peanuts shirts to wear a different one every day for more than a week! (Actually, probably more like two weeks...) A thing I will not write about: the Caspian/Susan romance. It never happened in C.S. Lewis's book. I will tolerate it in the movie; it's a great movie, I loved it, and the romance in the movie was minimal. However, that does not mean I will write Suspian. Anyway, I hope you enjoy any and all of the stories that I write. I certainly enjoy writing them! Thank you, and God bless! :) Lady Jill Pole (Oh, by the way, please check out my sisters' pages and stories: QueenSwanWhite and Queen Lu; also, my dear cousin is on here, too: Queen Su. You can also check out Queen Su's brother's page, but KireKhane Faerring currently has nothing on his profile and no stories written. However, he does have an awesome avatar!) |
