Author has written 5 stories for Sailor Moon, Teen Titans, and Harry Potter. I don't think it's possible to get a sense of what anyone is really like through these things, but then again I guess that's also part of the fun. About me: I'm a 22-year-old female living in California, recently graduated from college (I'm still kind of blown away by the fact that I have an honest-to-God diploma sitting on my shelf. I'm sure the shock will wear off eventually though... once it loses its shine). Like a lot of the people on this site, I mostly just come here to read. I have tried my hand at writing my own fics a couple of times in the past, but I'm not too proud of them at the moment. Anything written that's more than 2 years old always seems to me like someone else wrote it, and it's hard to enjoy it now. I also learned that I am under no circumstances allowed to attempt a multi-chaptered story without forming an outline beforehand. It does. not. work. (Which you'd think would be obvious, but hindsight's 20/20 and all that...) So even though I'm kind of anxious to get back on the saddle and try again, I'm hesitant. Meh, but we'll just see what happens. I tend to jump fandoms a lot, so it would be difficult to say I had any favorites, but those that I have been/currently am interested in are: TV/Movies: Star Trek TOS and by extension Star Trek XI, Supernatural Cartoons: Teen Titans, Danny Phantom Anime/Manga: Bleach, Gravitation I'm not going to rant about pairings that I like or couples that I ship (though I can be a pretty hardcore shipper, let me tell you), because I don't think that's particularly important, and I've seen "pairings wars" turn pretty vicious on this site in the past--which was the stupidest, and most immature thing I've ever seen... But nonetheless, people became extremely upset and I watched several great authors actually take down their work due to the narrow-mindedness of others. That should never happen! So although I do tend to steer toward stories that involve my preferred pairings, I would never put an author down for writing about something that differs from my viewpoint. It's called creative license, and I think everyone's entitled to it. The beauty of writing does not lie in the concept of who is sleeping with whom. ["Hey... Where'd this soapbox come from?" *Steps down* ] I enjoy reading the stories that other authors have posted, and I am grateful that so many people are willing to share. The ONLY thing that I ask if you choose to post your stories on this site: PROOFREAD and SPELLCHECK! I'm not asking for novel-worthy work, everyone's entitled to a few overlooked typos (we're all human), but if I can tell that you didn't even read through your own work before you uploaded it, I've just lost all respect for you. Proofreading is so easy, and if you have trouble with it there are always betas available to help you out. And if you don't know the difference between simple things like "your" and "you're", then you should definitely take advantage of using a beta. There's no excuse for poorly written work. ["Oh my god, again with the soapbox?" *Kicks it aside* ] So... Now that that's all been said, um... Nice to meet you? |
