I really liked this story. Caleb made a good point about Sam having no more of a normal childhood than Dean. Being raised by a child 4 years older than you does not make anything normal. Dean tried his hardest but he was a child himself. Nice to show outsiders perspectives: Sam had grown up but John and Dean still saw him as their little boy. It was nice to see him rise to the occasion and be a hero.

Jeez. They just won't let Sam win, will they? First he's too weak to be useful and then he killed the monster so something must be really wrong with him.

Wow, i can't believe i only just found this story. All the time i was reading it i couldn't put it down, i didn't want it to end. I love how you portrayed teenage Sam, he often gets portrayed as less of a hunter when he was a teen but your story is amazing, it is the perfect mix of a still rookie hunter but also shows he can take care of himself

Personally i also love the demon blood character arc with Sam and thought that was a really cool addition.

I never know whether or not to review stories that were posted this long ago, but, since this is one of only three stories that have made my favorites list in the six months I've been an official member of fanfiction, I thought I should just in case you still read them. This story is brilliant, but I'm sure you've heard that many times already. Specifically, I thought you did an amazing job of making it scary. Scary in a beautiful way, which sounds odd, but was true. It was that type of scary where there were little chills running down my spine, but I couldn't be sure if they were fear or just the gorgeous eeriness of the scene you painted, and this is coming from someone who typically skips over hunt-scenes in fics. Again, brilliant work. Keep writing!

I've been looking everywhere for this

I hate hate HATE John and Dean so friggin much right about now. Especially John, but I nearly screamed a few times there with what they both pull... and it's made worse because it totally could be canon, not OOC at all since we never saw enough of John in the show to believe his 'I do so love Sam too' shtick (and I loved Caleb callind Dean out in one of his bouts of selfish slef-rightneousness). I did like the part where Sam knows there is some kind of destiny calling and that is why he shies away from hunting, it's a great take on his character. This one-shot was amazing, no matter how dark it turns it was very well-written and interesting. _

Dunno if you're still checking your reviews on this or not, but, wow! What a great story...Sam's normal teen angst combined with the pressure of his hunting upbringing AND your use of the foreshadowing of something else going on in him was great...and his heroics in leading off the monster and defeating it? Awesome! Just wish we could have had seen John at least be decent to him briefly before taking off again and not be such a jerk to him...although you did nicely play off the fact that he had told YED that he had suspected about Sam for a while, so it DOES kind of explain his reticence with Sam beyond just normal father/son clashes. Anyway, great story!
