![]() Author has written 6 stories for Pokémon, and Mass Effect. C7's current music recommendations: 1. The album Spiritual Migration, by Persefone. Holy shit, this is one of the most mind-blowing pieces of music I've ever listened to in a very long time. If there's any album that can prove that heavy metal (melodic/progressive death metal, in fact) can be absolutely beautiful, it's this. Seriously, just give the songs Consciousness (parts 1 and 2), Zazen Meditation, Metta Meditation, and Inner Fullness a shot and see if you still disagree. Everything about this album is mind-blowing. From a composition standpoint it's incredibly complex while also being extremely heavy, and lyrically it's very introspective and philosophical. Forget any notions you may have had about death metal as a genre, because this is the album that will prove them wrong. I don't know if it's my favorite album, but it's definitely up there with the best of them. 2. The album Colors by Between the Buried and me. If I had to pick a favorite album, this would probably be it, simply because I literally can't find anything I dislike or would change about it. It's certainly not as accessible as Spiritual Migration, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Give this one a shot if you listened to Spiritual Migration and found yourself saying "Damn, I wish this was heavier, weirder, and more complex". At the very least give White Walls a shot, since that's pretty much the culmination of everything this album is about. So, somehow you've found your way onto this profile. I can only assume that this means you want to learn more about me, in which case I'll be happy to oblige a bit. I won't go into great detail about my likes, dislikes, etc. All you need to know is that I have an intense love for FPS and JRPG games (weird combo, I'm aware), music in general but in particular extreme metal (thrash, death, avant garde, etc.), fiction and fantasy, and all things military and firearms related. It's tough for me to pick a favorite anything, but I'll give a list of some of them anyway, just know that this was by no means an easy list to make: Book - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. Video Game - Resident Evil, the Remake version on the Gamecube. A very, very close second is Metal Gear Solid 3. Band - Meshuggah. Album - Colors by Between the Buried and Me. TV Show - Band of Brothers. Movie - The Godfather. Animated Movie - Ghost in the Shell. Anime - Spice and Wolf. No, really. If you think less of me due to this for whatever reason then I'll have you know that my second favorite is Black Lagoon, so you can stop laughing now. Gun - Tough choice, but probably the Mauser 98k. Tough to argue with the gun that essentially formed the basis for the modern bolt-action rifle, particularly with regards to the action used in many of them. Also tough to argue with the low, low price you can get the Yugoslavian ones at, and the relatively affordable price you can get 8mm ammo at. A close second is the AR-15 for being a really smooth shooter and just all-around cool. And now, just for fun, I'm going to give an honorable mention to the Valmet M76 in either 7.62 or 5.56, preferably with the folding stock, because it's ridiculously classy, a tack driver, and the very first thing on my list of things to buy if I ever win the lottery. One day, my love. Hopefully after all of that you've gotten a better idea of who I am as a person and as a writer, and if that still wasn't enough then feel free to drop me a PM and I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have. Actually, feel free to drop me a PM about anything in particular, because I'll be happy to talk. Anyway, let's talk about my stories: Derpédex - Ah yes, the big one. This is my mainstay "story", if you can call it that, and is the only one currently being updated. It's also my oldest one, and arguably the one with the best response among my readers. Originally I was going to kill it at around 100 chapters, but judging by the fact that it's gone a bit further that's clearly not the case, and I must say that I'm glad for it, because I really enjoy writing it. It's definitely a lot of fun to work on, and I regret not being able to update it faster because it's always a great source of catharsis being able to rant about inane stuff for a thousand or so words, possibly with another lengthy slice-of-life section at the end starting at chapter 100. I'm not sure when I'll officially end it; my go-to answer has always been "When I get sick of working on it", and I think that's a good enough answer for now. Until then, I hope all of you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it. Everything Else - Dead, save for one special case, which I will talk about towards the end. There's not much to say here. These are generally all stories that I started and for whatever reason didn't finish. The reasons why are as follows: 1. A Rather Unwelcome Burden - Combination of losing interest, disliking the direction of the story, and not being happy with how it was written up to that point. 2. Career Suicide - Written during the time when I was having a huge fling with the Mass Effect series, a fling which was over basically as soon as it started. Add to that the fact that nobody in the Mass Effect archive really cared about it, and I just couldn't find the energy to continue it more than the first chapter. 3. To Forgive is Divine - Hey look, it's the first story I ever finished (that's still around on my profile)! In all honesty, it was a one-shot from its inception, and was never designed to be anything else other than that. Just a quick stream-of-consciousness thing I put out one summer night, nothing more. Just as well, because I really don't like it. To be fair, it was supposed to be writing practice from the very beginning, so I guess I can't be too upset about how it went. 4. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Journey Into Shadow - I don't know what it is about Mystery Dungeon fics, but it seems like any one I start is doomed to die an early death. I put this one out because I wanted to expand my horizons beyond just stupid comedy. However, I quickly learned one thing about myself while doing so: for all its value as literature (that is to say, none), I actually really enjoy writing stupid humor. I think it's really fun. Writing serious stories takes a great deal of work and planning, which I was entirely unprepared for and too unskilled to do at the point this story was written. Ultimately, I gave myself an ultimatum: I was going to work with either this, or Parallax, and I ultimately chose Parallax. And speaking of Parallax... Parallax - The "Special Case" I was talking about. No, it isn't dead, despite how it may look. It's just undergoing a very heavy revision process, because hot damn, it's kind of a disaster in its current state. Just goes to show you what poor planning will do to you. If you're curious about the rewrite, there's not much to discuss right now, but I will say this: while it will still have humorous elements, comedy will not be a focus. I would like to keep most of the same characters from the original incarnation, but I might have to change their roles around a bit. If you're wondering why I'm doing a rewrite, the reason is simple: Because I really, really wasn't happy with the initial result and felt I could do much better. Also, remember that thing I said earlier about really liking stupid comedy? That's true, except in this case I felt like the plot could have been used for something much better than stupid comedy, and decided to edit things accordingly. Just know that, however different the rewrite might seem, it is actually not that far off from what was actually going to eventually happen in the original story. No, seriously, the rewrite is basically just taking what was going to eventually go down in the original and expanding it to fit the entire story rather than just being the last third or so, and if nothing about that seems weird to you then I can guarantee that it will once the thing is actually out. "Why is your name C7sus4?" Because I like my dominant seventh chords the same way I like my Fallout games: without the third. In all seriousness, it's because I wanted a new name for myself after a few years with a really bad one and, with no inspiration, looked to music and came out with what I thought was a cool one. Fallout 3 is still trash, though. |
