Hi, you can call me Nikolai. I'm a twenty-eight year old idiot who thought he was done with fanfic a long time ago. Recently I've been discovering/rediscovering creative things in my life (I also enjoy pyrography (using a heated tool to burn designs into wood or leather)), which led me back into reading fanfic and eventually writing it. I write in the Harry Potter fandom. Please be aware that I follow the British English rules of spelling, grammar and punctuation (or at least try to!), so please don't send me messages saying I'm spelling 'colour' incorrectly. In Britain we have a fond appreciation for silent letters, and are loath to get rid of them like our American cousins. I have, in my time in the Harry Potter fandom, consumed a truly worrying amount of fanfiction. I have in all likelihood picked up an idea or concept from another story and recycled it/incorporated it into the story that I'm trying to tell. Unfortunately I don't take note of great ideas as I'm reading (which is actually a great idea), so an idea may simmer in my brainpan for awhile before it merges as something else that can be used. To bastardise the Asimov quote, "There is a single light of fanfiction, and to brighten it somewhere is to brighten it everywhere" - the fanon idea of the Wizarding World is a fluid one, and its permeability is one of it's greatest strengths. If you're reading something of mine (and I use the word in the loosest sense, given how I'm treating the source material) and see something you recognise then by all means PM me. I'm not the same Kennilworthy Thisp as the author of Quidditch Through the Ages. He's Kennilworthy Whisp. That would be grand though, wouldn't it? |
