Author has written 7 stories for Law and Order: CI, and Twilight. How can I tell thee about me? I'm a voracious reader. If I find an author I like, I tend to read everything else I can find written by that author. This also extends to fanfic. I think my husband bought me an iPad so that my children can have the opportunity to see me differently - not just the side of my face as I face my computer screen or the back of my head as I sit in the driver's seat of my car. I was a fan of the Law & Order franchise for years. While pregnant several years ago I caught a CI marathon and it became my favorite. Things went sideways a few seasons ago, and that's when I started to look for/write fanfiction. (Man am I sad to see that show go...) I read the Twilight series after the first movie was released in order to be able to talk with my 14 year-old niece about it, so that we could have common ground, which can be tough with teenage girls. I have become a bit addicted to Twilight fan fiction - it's an obsession, I admit it to myself even if I won't admit it to anyone else. I'm an older woman that identifies with the story, but not for the reasons you might think. I, too, am a child of divorced parents, and I acted as the parent in the face of my mother's benign parental neglect. I think that this holds the key to Bella's identifiability for me. She ran the show at Renee's because Renee was flighty (my mom was severely clinically depressed and untreated). Bella goes to Charlie's when someone else comes along to monitor her mother whereas I made a very poor attempt at running away - I only got as far as the bus station. But I did then go to my dad's. Instead of constantly fishing, my dad was constantly doing things with his second wife and her kids. If someone, anyone, had come along and paid the kind of intense attention to me the way Edward does to Bella (especially in high school) I would have been willing to do just about anything to keep them, and losing them after a period of time would have sent me into the same major downward depressive spiral. The thing that goes uncommented on in the Twilight series is Bella's sense that she has to *do* something to be worthy of the love she receives - I believe that's why she doesn't want Edward buying her expensive things - she doesn't feel she can *do* enough to be worthy of them, or of him. That's why she doesn't understand how she could keep his attention. Man, there are so many true-to-life issues presented in the series if you manage to look past the (admittedly very splashy) love triangle. Project Team Beta RULES! I beta for them and I use them when I write. There are lots of wonderful people over there, and they love to help! Profile pic looks a bit like me with a haircut I had in high school - when I chose that one just for fun, I fell in love with it and couldn't change it to my current respectable mom-'do. Is that too much? I never know.
