Author has written 2 stories for Halo, and Gundam Seed. Hello my friend, I believe introductions are in order! My name is Adrien Lalonde, and if your curious I'm a nineteen year hot blooded heterosexual male. If your wondering about my personality, I'm just your general nice guy; that super friendly person that's always really easy to get along with. Seriously, its awesome to make friends. It's also nice know that if someone dislikes or down right hates me, then they just don't like me for the sake of not liking me. Anyway, point is I'm a nice guy. You want help with anything, whether writing related or not, I'll totally be there for you as best I can. Send me a message if you need anything, I can't guarantee a speedy reply though. I'm somewhat of a pacifist since I don't like fighting, but I can't say I'm a true pacifist because ironically I'm also a military enthusiast. The weapons of war fascinate me to no end, especially tanks. My personal interests, other then the obvious reading and writing, include all sorts of things. For sports, I like to play golf during the summer, I find it an extremely relaxing activity and I enjoy the challenge it provides. During winter I like to snowboard, its an intense activity that's fast-paced and exciting, sad to say I'm not all that good at it though since snowboarding is a very expensive fancy to pursue. I don't do it often so I can't do any crazy tricks, but I enjoy it more for the speed then the tricks anyway. My all year round activity is paintball, like snowboarding it's fast-paced and exciting, but it also requires quick thinking and cunning. Going away from sports, I'm also an avid gamer. I mostly play games of the real time strategy or first/third person shooters varieties, games in my opinions that require more skill then intelligence. Don't get me wrong though, there are plenty turn based strategy games I enjoy, and an odd few RPGs I like. And I believe that is all that is needed to say, since I doubt many people are interested in things like my favorite food and such. Though now that I've said that I can't help but say my favorite food is chips... seriously, if chips were a sentient and civilized species I would probably be they're depiction of the apocalypse. Anyway, randomness done. Now its time for business: fanfiction My Interests As a man I tend to stick to more typical male interests, mainly things centered on war; in both what I read and what I write. Don't get me wrong though, personally I loathe war just as much as all people in general do, and I wish that it would just fuck off and die and leave the world alone already. However, I can't deny that war makes fictional universes absolutely thrilling. If there was no wars in any entertainment medium ever produced I would be one very bored person, dammit for being so enrapturing. I also prefer fiction with a more serious and tense air, filled with so much action and excitement that I can't stop it from getting my blood pumping. I also love it whenever when stories play vivid attention to background details, fanfiction or not; when an author explains how a piece of technology works and give specs for it, or gives a realistic depiction of militaristic tactics and protocol... that just makes all the difference. Genres: What I like and what I don't like My particular genre of interest is science fiction, because I love futuristic combat! Because come on, ten thousand plus ton warships slugging it out in space, fighter jets and mechs blasting each other into oblivion, bullets and plasma and missiles flying all over? Who doesn't love that? Moving on, I don't really like fantasy that much, mainly because I just don't really dig most depictions of magic or the ridiculous necessity for Elves to always be present. Though their are a few exceptions, not all fantasy is bad. I'm also not afraid to say I'm a bit of a sap and that I do like romance, but I'll also say that I've never read a romance novel I ever liked. Every published romance novel I've ever tried to read is always terribly dull and mind-numbingly boring, nothing about the story makes the characters interesting to me and the settings are just plain unexciting. For me, serious shit has to go down before I ever take interest in any romance between any characters, like... I don't know... a war. And while many would argue that romance novels are serious, the characters personal problems such as 'I made Marsha pregnant, how will I explain this to my fiancee?' does not make the serious cut. This is is why every romance story I've ever read and liked has been a fanfiction, I go in already knowing that the characters I'm reading about have already been dragged through hell and back in whatever universe they come from. I do like it when stories have some humor in them, in fact I would probably call it a necessity. And by humor, I don't mean things like characters heads inflating when their angry or giant sweat drops appearing on the back of their heads when someone does something stupid. Cartoon shit like that pisses me off and it totally ruins anything it touches for me, whether it be on television or in a fanfiction, it just kills the atmosphere. Usually as long as humor is not displayed in the aforementioned fashion there, then it makes the grade for me. Fanfiction: My Dislikes Since I'm fairly certain I've pretty much outlined what I like in fanfiction, here is a list of things I don't like to see in them. 1. First is nothing special: bad grammar and spelling. We all hate it, in this I'm sure we all can agree. For the most part people guilty of this usually only have trouble with the English language, since it is not their primary language. In my opinion, if you don't have the ability to wield the language your writing in effectively then simply don't write in that language at all, stick to the language your most competent and comfortable with. 2. Crack-fics... those stories with zero plot and are so completely random you have no ability to discern what is happening or why. 3. Self-insert fics... I was guilty of this once way back when I first started writing. Then when I read other self-insert fics I realized how annoying they were I quickly came to the conclusion that many people likely thought the same about mine, and I have taken it down (It was practically ancient anyway). It's only natural as fanfiction writers to imagine ourselves next to the characters we adore, but lets keep at that; no one really wants to read others peoples personal fantasies. However I can understand it if it's to a much lesser degree, like adding yourself as a very minor character who only makes an odd appearance once or every so often, perhaps serving as sales clerk at a store the main characters visit. 4. Stories where the characters are extremely out of character. When this happens its not even fanfiction anymore, its just a random story with names stolen from stuff the author likes. 5. Stories that focus and center around the authors original characters. Don't get me wrong, I love many OCs in many stories, but when the stories focus on them it just annoys me. The vast majority of people come to this website to read stories made about the characters they have come to know and love, not some random group of OCs. To me, an authors OCs should always take backseat roles to the stories canon characters. However certain exceptions apply, such as OC antagonists when all the series original ones are currently dead or defeated, something along those lines anyway. Another exception to this would be stories based in fictional universes that don't exactly have lots of characters to draw from, like many video games do. A good example of this would be Halo, who's major characters consist of Master Chief, Cortana, Johnson, Thel aka the Arbiter, and to a lesser degree Rtas and Lord Hood; not exactly a lot to draw on(I do know the Haloverse has many more characters then that, but I wouldn't exactly call them major ones). 6. Unoriginal and overused plots. A good example of this would be in the Gundam SEED section of the site, that example being the dreaded High School fic. Seriously, if the characters going to High School is part of the fic then I have no problem with that. If the characters going to High School IS the fic, that's where the issue is. I swear, every time I see the words "Archangel High' it makes me want to gag. 7. Excessive amounts of one shots. Seriously, I like a lot of one shots, but its so annoying when an authors just writes piles upon piles and pretty much spams the site. If your going to write a lot of one shots, please at least sort them out into related topics and then post those assortments together in a collection. Potential Topics Here is a list of topics I may write about, and will be updated regularly as I take interest in other things. I can't promise that I'll actually write a fic about everything I mention here, but I can say that everything I ever write about will be on this list. As well, any crossovers I write will also be about subjects on this list. --Video games-- Halo: Just about my all time favorite video game and fictional universe of all time, I hope to and likely will write more Halo stories. The Haloverse is vast and complex world, with the games, the books, the animated series, and so much more. Bungie just gives me so much to love about it. Command & Conquer: Tiberium Saga: Probably my favorite RTS series ever, at least story wise. Though the games are indeed very fun, I always dislike how its more of a game speed then a battle of wits online, it usually always boils down to who makes the most tanks the fastest wins. Anyway, I just love the story the game provides. I likely won't try to write a fanfic about it till I read the books though. F.E.A.R.: A great Sci-fi paranormal horror shooter that I have greatly enjoyed. The F.E.A.R. universe seems largely unexplored and very mysterious. The creators opt for riddles to explain the stories future, rather then straightforward explanations. This leaves considerable room for my own personal interpretations. Assassin's Creed: This is a universe I've enjoyed quite immensely lately. For only two games the creators have done an incredible job of making a deep and exciting story, especially number two. Number one was awesome, but number two blew me off my feet. The Codex pages, the glyph riddles, and of course the assassinations, all do a fantastic job of making the game a real memorable and emmersive experience. Fallout: It was Fallout 3 that got me into the fallout universe, and since then I've embarked upon learning everything about it, I'm currently playing the older games. I've finished the second game, so now I'm working on the first one now. The story is fun if not the deepest, and the games has a really nice atmosphere and was generally really fun, so perhaps I may write a fic about it. Gears of War: These are really great games I enjoyed, they have an enjoyable story and really fun game play. The books are pretty good, though I've only read the second one, I assume the first will be as good. But anyway, Delta Squad is just a memorable bunch of well developed characters that are just really cool and bad ass, so a Gears fic is not out of the question. R-Type Command/Tactics: This is one turn-based strategy game I found very fun. Unlike the other subjects I've mentioned R-Type Command, and as far I know all of R-Type in general, has barely any story at all and zero named characters. The technology in the game really intrigued me, plus with the complete lack of in-depth story I pretty much have all the freedoms I could ever want while writing about it. I plan to novelize the game and truth be told I've actually already started on paper, I just currently can't continue it since I no longer have access to the game for reference material and weapon specs. I also must say that this game has the sexiest space faring warship I have ever seen, the mighty Heimdall dreadnought(Refer to display pic)! --Anime Series'-- Gundam SEED- I just love this show, definitely holds the mantle of my favorite anime series, theirs just so many good things about it! An excellent story with lots twists and surprises, fantastic characters, lots of action. I wish the romances were a little more explored and explained, though knowing the canon couples are together is good enough for me, however little it is shown in the show in either season. And twenty meter tall war machine is definitely a plus. Appleseed: I currently know very little about this anime series, but I have seen a couple movies and I already know that I like it! Advanced, high pace futuristic infantry combat? Filled with powered armored suits and high performance robots? That's just pure unfiltered and uncut awesome. When I have learned everything about this series I will more then likely write something about it. Ghost in a shell: Its actually a lot like Appleseed in terms of futuristic infantry combat, but focuses more on human synthetics and cybernetics then power armor. Also like Appleseed I know very little about it, so It'll be a while till I write any stories about it. --Books-- Starfist: An awesome series of books that does large scale warfare exceptionally well, detailed in description not just on the ground with the marines but also in space with the ships. The books is also full of plenty of awesome characters, perhaps even to a fault because it's hard to keep track of them all! All the books are incredibly hard to find though, finding them all is probably harder then finding all the Dragon Balls. I'm getting close though! Eragon: A fantasy book that I actually like quite a bit. The books are pure masterpieces in my opinion, it's really a shame that the author decided to take the first movie deal offered to him. In all honesty I believe that this could have been the next epic fantasy to perhaps even best Lord of the Rings in theaters if handled correctly. Alas it was not to be, and the hunk of shit movie that was made has killed any chance ever happening. Oh well. I actually have a half written Eragon story somewhere, perhaps I'll finish it though I doubt my interest will be peaked until the next book comes out. Current Projects Seeds of Hope: A Gundam SEED fic that begins just a after the second war has ended. It focuses on the romance between Kira and Lacus, and how they adapt to their new responsibilities while simultaneously growing closer together in the meanwhile. I don't think this fic is really going to end, and that soon enough it will just become a collection of drabbles that focus on Kira and Lacus in both their point of view, and those of their comrades around them. King of Terrors: A Gundam SEED song fic set to the song King of Terrors by Kamelot. Takes place right after Athrun and Kira's fight outside of Orb, just after Nicol died. The story is in Kira's point of view, and focuses on his fears of what happened to his friends aboard the Archangel. Future Projects Ethereal: A Cross over fic that I plan on writing as soon as my story Seeds of Hope has been completed to the point where it becomes a drabble fic. It's mostly a Gundam SEED fic, but will contain many of the elements of what I'm crossing it over with, though I'm leaving what it is out for now, it'll be surprise till when I release it. She is My Sin: A Gundam SEED song fic set to the song She is My Sin by Nightwish. It'll be about Kira's thoughts on Flay... and no, it won't be a Flay bashing fic if your wondering. I haven't decided the specific time frame yet, but it'll be near the end of their official relationship before or even perhaps during when Kira breaks up with Flay and why he does. That why being that while in reality Flay was using him, in his minds eye he believes that it is he who is using her. And that pretty much covers everything. Remember, if you want to ask me about anything don't hesitate to ask! |
