![]() Author has written 2 stories for Harry Potter, and Ranma. Hello Everyone, Welcome to my very own lackluster profile page. I don't really have much to say about me except that I'm a lonely woman in her early 40's that suffers from chronic depression. It's been a long time since I've really been involved in any kind of romantic relationship and I'm not sure how I'd even go about dating these days. Due to some bad experiences with internet dating, I would really rather not deal with dating apps and the like. As counter-intuititive as it may sound, I usually find reading romance stories enough as I can generally live vicariously through the characters. There are times though, when reading and writing actually hurts more simply because it reminds me of what I don't have. I may seem bold at times, but truthfully I'm really quite shy and have trouble meeting people. I am Willow Rosenburg before she met Buffy. There are four main series I read these days, depending on my mood at the time. They are Ranma 1/2, Harry Potter, Gilmore Girls and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. That said, there are generally only certain pairings I like to read in each fandom. This doesn't mean I won't read others though it is unlikely. I tend to stick with lesbian/femslash/yuri pairings though I have made a few exceptions in the Ranma 1/2 and Harry Potter fandoms over the years. Though I can tolerate female/male pairings, and have enjoyed most of the hetero stories I have read, I will not read male slash, period. Ranma 1/2: Onna-Ranma/Akane: This is my all time favorite pairing in this fandom, nothing else comes even close. I've always been attracted to redheads and am one myself, so Onna-Ranma is my favorite character even when Ranma isn't a girl in mind and spirit. My next favorite character is Akane. For better or for worse, I find I have a lot in common with both Onna-Ranma and Akane. Maybe that's why they're my favorite characters as I can see a bit of myself in both of them. Now, the two of them don't have to be a romantic couple for me to enjoy the story. They don't even have to be friends and/or sisters, it's actually more about how the two of them interact with one another that interests me. Ranma/Akane: It really depends on how the two are characterized and whether the cute little redhead ever makes an appearance. Onna-Ranma/Ryoga: Despite what I said about not liking yaoi, for me to like this pairing it really isn't yaoi since Ranma has to be feminine in mind and identity. She doesn't necessary have to be locked but it certainly helps. Secondly, Ryoga needs to be a halfway decent person. I'm not a fan of his early manga characterization but I love character growth and he has to start somewhere. Ranma(either or both forms)/Nabiki: While I don't like Nabiki's characterization generally throughout the manga, like Ryoga, I do appreciate character growth and there have been a few Ranma/Nabiki stories I've really enjoyed. If Nabiki starts making an effort to change and becomes a better person I can really enjoy stories with her paired with Ranma. Ranma(either or both forms)/Kasumi: This is a pairing I can really enjoy as well. Kasumi sees so little, if any, character growth in the manga it really is a shame. I make it a point to include her in stories I write and allow her to come alive instead of being a simple cut-out. Ranma(either or both forms)/Shampoo, Ukyo, Kodachi: No, just no. As far as I'm concerned, at least as far as their canon counterparts are concerned, none of the non-Tendo fiancées are a good match for Ranma. Shampoo goes from trying to kill him/her to trying to force him/her to marry her and go back to China. Ukyo blames her crappy childhood on Ranma and seeks vengeance when it was really Genma's fault. Like Shampoo, she goes from trying to kill him/her to trying to marry him/her. It just doesn't work, especially since they haven't even seen one another in ten years. Kodachi, I really don't think I need to say anything about that lunatic. However, through a lot of character development it might be possible for it to work. Harry Potter: While it isn't necessarily a requirement for me to read it, I tend to gravitate towards female 'Harry' stories. How she's female doesn't really matter, whether she was born a girl or some kind of magic/muggle process transitions her with or without her consent. I've read stories using all three as a presmise and have enjoyed most of them. I don't recall having read too many female 'Harry'/male stories. Like the other three fandoms I read, I tend to stick with lesbian pairings as it's more comfortable for me and easily relatable. 'Harry'/Hermione: I'm honestly not sure if this is my favorite pairing in this fandom or not. I think it's the one I've read the most and with them being canonical friends it makes sense. Hermione does have her quirks that can quickly drive a person up a wall though. This just gives her a chance to grow along with her often reckless and impulsive girlfriend. 'Harry'/Susan: I've read this pairing a couple of times and enjoyed them imenensly. The typical seperation of houses makes this pairing a little more difficult as it takes a special set of circumstances for 'Harry' to be sorted into Hufflepuff and Susan isn't likely to be placed anywhere else. 'Harry'/Luna: The same as above with the added complication that they're almost always a year apart. 'Harry'/Ginny: The 'canon' pairing... Well, I never put much stock into the canonical relationships as they make no sense to me, especially that epilogue at the end of Deathly Hollows. 'Harry'/Daphne: A Gryffindor and Slytherin trying to date is definitely a challenge and one I've enjoyed the few times I've read it. I think those were male Harry/Daphne pieces though, I can't quite remember. 'Harry'/Other: There have been a few 'others' over the years and while I probably enjoyed them, they aren't on top of my list for people I'd like to see 'Harry' wind up with. Gilmore Girls: This is a new addition for my fanfiction reading interests and I have enjoyed what I've read so far immensely. Like the other fandoms, I prefer female/female pairings so the only pairing I've read in this fandom to date is Rory and Paris. I would've loved to have seen that in the show. The two work beautifully together and it's a shame so many producers and the general public are so against lesbians that they, with few expections, refuse to showcase such beautiful relationships. I get that most of the world is hetero, but we're people and we need love too. Anyways, I've never liked the guys Rory dated in the show. Dean was lazy and only did what he needed to get by. Sort of like Ron in the Harry Potter series. How did a brilliant girl like Rory (Hermione) wind up with those losers? Jess was hot, sure, but he had no direction in his life and was constantly getting into trouble. Not exactly someone our resident bookworm needs to associate with. Logan, oh my god. I wanted to rip that guy's balls off myself. His elitism and self-important complex (Kuno in Ranma 1/2) was just so incredibly off-putting I practically gagged when I saw them together. I had trouble watching the later seasons where the show seemed to derail itself. Not even going to touch A Year in the Life as I never saw it and heard absolutely horrifying things about it. I loved the early seasons and the interactions between Lorelai and Rory the most. That, was why I watched the show. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Buffy/Willow: This is easily my favorite pairing in this series although I like Tara as well. This is probably the only series I would be okay with polyamory and that's only if it's Buffy/Willow/Tara. I don't particularly like Faith and I absolutely despise the thought of a human being with a vampire (so no Angel or Spike, gross.) though I will make an exception to VampWillow. I think the only reason I can make that exception is because Willow is my favorite character in the series. Kudos to the writers and producers for actually giving us a lesbian relationship on television. I wish more companies would follow suit. It's not like we're just going to go away. One last note: I know all of you are tired of my stories apparently going no where. Believe me, I am too. I am so sick and tired of posting, pulling, and re-posting because I've suddenly become a perfectionist in one area of my life. I have neither the time nor the inclination to write a bunch of stories. For my last Harrah, I had planned to combined all of my ideas into one story called The Butterfly Effect. That plan has changed as I don't want to do a Peggy-Sue/time travel story after all. Originally, the story was going to start where The Heart of Ranma Saotome and Heart of the Phoenix (the same evening as the failed wedding) started and go from there for a bit until I sent poor Ranma hurling backward through time to the beginning. For one, since it would've taken a few chapters to get to that point it would have needlessly gone forward before going backward and I figured readers wouldn't have appreciated spending time on a timeline that would no longer exist. It wasn't going to be a quick four paragraph thing where Ranma dies while wishing he had told Akane how much he loves her before going back to the beginning or anything like that. While the original content I have planned for The Butterfly Effect could have worked post-manga, sort of, it really works better from the beginning. It'll also allow me to have some fun with the various arcs while telling the main story. Yes, with a Peggy-Sue I could've done that too but the problem above remained. Besides, it would be better if Ranma didn't know what she would face in the future. Now to talk a little about what The Butterfly Effect is about. Simply put, in chaos theory, the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state. Well, the small change I am making from canon is the fact Ranma is transgender, specifically trans-female. As if that alone wouldn't significantly change things from canon, there's more. An original story plotline comes into play as a consequence of Ranma's choice that has more and more profound effects as the story progresses. Suffice it to say, this story is not a simple re-telling of the manga with a trans-fem protagonist, but an original story with canon backdrops that will likely go different than their canon counterpart. Due to the fact that I am no longer starting from the failed wedding and doing a Peggy-Sue type story, The Heart of Ranma Saotome will continue without any of the original story ideas I'm planning for The Butterfly Effect. Once I get enough chapters of The Butterfly Effect finished, since I want to have a number of them done before I start posting, I'll return to The Heart of Ranma Saotome as the side project it was always meant to be. Jusenkyo's Blessing, in its twin format that's currently listed, will be deleted January 1st, 2020 when The Butterfly Effect goes live. I don't know how long either story will be. I do know that The Butterfly Effect will be far longer than The Heart of Ranma Saotome and composed of multiple arcs. I haven't decided whether each arc will be its own 'book' or if everything will be in a single 'book'. I suspect it'll wind up being the former as this thing might very well reach 1,000,000 words by the time it's finished. Each chapter should be between 9,500 and 10,500 words so for those of you who like longer chapters, but not insane lengths like 40,000 and such, this should flow at a reasonable pace. The Butterfly Effect begins the night before Ranma and Genma's trip to Jusenkyo. You'll find an interesting change within the first sentence of the story and that's when I introduce Ranma as a fourteen year old boy. That's right 14, not 15 or 16 (depending on when Takahashi decided Ranma's birthday was) like canon. I have reasons for this that I won't spoil here that will become apparent as the story progresses. It's not an arbitrary change. The same holds true for the three main characters' (Ranma, Akane and Reiko) birthdays. I am planning to launch the story January 1st, 2020.
