Author has written 28 stories for Fairy Tales, Chronicles of Narnia, Lunar Chronicles, and Cars. Hi, I am a proud Canadian girl. I speak Canadian English only; not to be confused with American or British or any other English variations. I am a Christian so I won't write what I'm not comfortable hearing or reading. I don't even swear, not that I haven't said swear words because that would be a lie. I love to read hence my pseudonym AllisonReader (And no Allison is not my real name). I love the Victorian age and anything history related. I'm thinking about going to university to become a teacher. I've always been told I would make a good teacher but university scares me. I'm also a horrible procrastinator, truly awful I put things off like crazy. I hope this gives you a little insight to who I am; thank-you for reading. Warning If you do not like Canadian themed things do not go any farther, I was feeling a bit patriotic after the Olympics (Winter, Vancouver 2010) and wanted to put this somewhere for the world to see but I don't have anywhere else to put it. I am Canadian, we are more than snow and ice, and Tim Horton’s is more than just a coffee and doughnut store, it’s pop culture in a way, (if you’ve seen the commercials you know what I mean), we’re more than hockey and curling, I do know a Sally and she is nice, I don’t own a polar bear, moose or beaver (unless you count stuffed animals), but the beaver is respected, our country is here impart because of them, we are tough, our schools don’t close when we get 5 inches of snow in one day, most of our buses run through minus 40 being the wind chill, since I’ve been alive I’ve had only one official snow day, where the whole city shut down, the Saskatchewan blizzard of ’07, no visibility even in the cities, on Halloween it often snows, kids still trick or treat (in snow suits), and when it’s been -20ºC to -29ºC (-4ºF to -20ºF) with wind chills of -30ºC to -45ºC (-24ºF to -49ºF) or more I should say less, then when it goes up to -10 ºC (14ºF), we shed layers and go out in shorts and t-shirts (not me but I’ve seen it done, mainly by teenaged boys, but some of us will leave our jackets open or change to lighter ones), then summer can reach up to 30ºC (104ºF), beautiful lakes, wonderful to swim in, and if someone steps on your toe, both will say I’m sorry, it’s true I’ve had it happen, now without further ado thank-you. For those who don't know there are a couple references to the Molson's I am Canadian rant, look it up if you want I know it's on you-tube. Also if you don't know how to pronounce my province's name let me spell it out for you Sask-at-cha-i-won all short vowels. And the reason for the mention of temperatures is it's really cold here,-30ºC with wind chills close to -50ºC, but life goes on, March has certainly come in like a lion and will hopefully go out like a lamb. I can't wait for spring. (February 28-March 2 2014) Sometimes I go back and re-read my writing and some of them feel like they're so baby-ish, I can't even read it. Other pieces I re-read, I'm pleasantly surprised and feel like; what I actually wrote this it's so good, someone else could have wrote it. Or there has been a time where I feel like there's one sentence that just doesn't work, and it ends up being someone's favourite part of the story. Then of course the indifference of its good enough that falls right in between each extreme and feels the most me of my writing. Though the longer I leave it the better I can edit it, I get detached from it enough that I can fix what I didn’t see when writing. Then there’s the things that I shouldn’t have tried to do yet and I think the biggest is a multi-chapter story, I’m better at doing one shots and maybe poems. You might not care about my own personal thoughts, but everyone needs some sort of release and since I tend to not say what I’m really feeling, writing lets me do so. |
