Appearance: Kurai is a slim young man of average height around the age of seventeen with silky blond hair and blue eyes. He has a somewhat skinny build that contradicts his impressive strength, but later on becomes slightly toned and muscular after Kiria's wish. Later on, it was revealed that he carried multiple scars on his body, something of which disappears after Kiria's wish. A majority of his hair is swept away in a bang that covers his right eye, a style he inherited from his father.

In his demonic form, his eyes turn red. His hair turns black, and he gains lizard like scales and claws up to his forearms. After advancing to the ranks of a Kishin, Kurai later wears three rings after advancing to a Kishin that not only gives him immense demonic energy, but acts as his limiters. His main attire is the Yokai boy's uniform. In public, he wears a black slacks with a matching untucked black shirt, and a tie.

Demon to Vampire and Demon Chronicles

Personality: Originally, Kurai was a mysterious, isolated, and completely solemn individual who did not socialize with others and was prone to anger. After meeting Tsukune and Moka and joining the Newspaper club, he became laid back and easy going, yet still had a hard time trusting others. He fears that he will lose himself to his darkness and past and turn into a killer. Ironically, he has no trouble killing others who threaten him or his friends, and is normally calm when around a corpse. Underneath that outer shell, he fears many things due to his traumatized past and possesses a soft side, always apologizing before eating a soul. After meeting Kiria Konime, he developed feelings for her and was confused around the topic of love. After starting a relationship with her, his personality took a complete turn around, and he was always seen smiling when she was around.

In the Demon Chronicles after Kiria wished for the disappearance of Deveen completely bringing him back from death and preventing his traumatizing past, Kurai's personality took a different tone. He is now normally seen smiling and joking around. And has developed a more calm, easy going, and laid back demeanor. He is proud of his family name and doesn't take kindly to anyone who insults them. He highly respects and fears those who he acknowledges as stronger than him. He is incredibly loyal and respective of his father, referring to him as honorable in public. Despite that, he is internally insecure, as well as modest and thinks of himself as weak, despite the protests of others. He is incredibly loyal and protective of his friends, and willing to go to great lengths for their safety and is prone to extreme anger when one brings them harm. Out of all of them, he cares and loves Kiria, seeing as he was willing to break ancient rules in order to bring her back to life.

He also cares about his weapon and little sister Levy, who he is overly protective of. According to Levy, he has a slight weakness for women with a large chest, yet doesn't show it under his pride. It is later revealed that he has a habit of groping Kiria in his sleep and usually sleeps with his head on her lap.

History:

Kurai was born to Katsumi and an unknown demon (It is possible that he was the Devil King Lucifer. But since Kurai was little, his memories of his father are vague). A year after he was born, he grew ill from lack of nourishment on souls. His father gave him his soul, resulting in his death. Menawhile, a demon who went by the name Deveen, possessed Jundo Konime and forced her to kidnap "sinners" and kill them so she could ressurect his original body. One of her followers and spies, Ichiya Konime warned Katsumi and made her go into hiding, handing Kurai to her friend Kami, an Angel who changed her name to Miley later on. Regardless, Kurai was kidnapped from his home and tortured for four years. One night, he witnessed the murder of his godmother Kami and released a concentrated amount of demonic power, destroying the church and everyone in it. Both him and Jundo were the only survivors. It was at that time, Deveen attempted to possess Kurai, only to end up trapped in his head after as failed possesion attempt.

Since then, Kurai lived isolated in a tent far in the woods, using only his invisibility to move around. It was then that he met Ayami, who later on went and became his partner and only friend. The two lived together and survived by stealing. One night, when Kurai went out on a run, he was encountered by Koyomi Konime and was overpowered. It was then when she attempted to purge his memories. Due to the intervention of Mikogami, Kurai only lost the last four years of his memories as well as the memories of Ayami, believing to have been in a coma. It was then that Kurai was invited to Yokai Academy until his memories returned.

In the Demon Chronicles, Kurai was born to the Demon Katsumi, and the Devil King Lucifer. At the age of five, Kurai lost his right arm and was switched with the arm of the son the Archangel Michael, granting him the ability of using Holy flames. He trained with his childhood friends Calin and Mikako under Nuarihyon, the king of all Demons. After a falling out, Kurai and Calin had grown to hate one another.

At some point, he later met his best friends Kimi and Yoruno and the three grew up together. Going into Yokai Academy, the three formed a club that was made to rid the world of malevolent Demons. At some point in time, they met and recruited Mizuko, Souji, Kayna, and Nariko.

Powers and Abilities: As a Demon, Kurai possesses notable features such as bat wings and red eyes. He is also a master of most forms of Dark Magic

Immense Demonic Power- In several events, Kurai has proven himself renowned in demonic power. Mammon once commented how both Calin and him could wipe out half of Japan if the two clashed.

-Shapeshifting: Kurai has shown capabilities of shapeshifting. Throughout the series, only three have been shown. He can take on the forms of a white furred hellhound, a cobra, and can even grow a pair of spider legs from his back.

-Dark and Shadow magic: Kurai is proficient in the use of manipulating darkness and shadows to his advantage, creating clones of himself out of such, and even turning himself into shadows.

Soul Void- By turning off his mental stability, he can increase his strength and speed.

Soul Consumption- As a Demon, he is capable of ingesting a soul of any creature he comes across. After eating said soul, he develops the victim's memories and abilities, although he claims after training, you can keep from looking into one's memories at will.

-Telekinesis: Kurai has demonstrated the ability to use telekinesis
-Pyrokinesis: Kurai possesses the ability to control flames. His most notable flames are black and blue in color.
-Immense Demonic Energy: Kurai possesses high amounts of Demonic power after becoming a Kishin. He is capable of mass producing explosions by concentrating his demonic energy.

Incredible Strength- Kurai has shown some example of physical prowess. Being able to throw a human body meters away, and sending Satan flying with a single punch.

Immense Speed- Kurai is able to appear in front of a person in the blink of an eye.

Teleportation: Kurai is capable of teleporting himself and another person to short distances. Long distances or carrying more than two people causes him nausea and fatigue

Immense Durability and Endurance- Kurai has shown high amounts of durability. One of which is being able to stand after recieving several shocks by Calin, or standing after being mercilessly beaten by Satan.

Rapid Healing- He has demonstrated the ability to regenerate any wound he receives. The more severe, the longer it takes. This doesn't include injuries inflicted by Holy Weapons.

Soul Mating- By transferring a piece of his soul onto a person, he is able to reincarnate said person into a Demon, as well as brand them as their mate. However, both parties are incapable of loving anyone other than each other.

Seven Sinful Incantations: After learning several demonic spells, Kurai learned of seven forbidden Demonic spells. So far, only five have been shown.

(1) Soul Banishment- By placing a key on a living being, Kurai can seal anyone along with himself in an endless void so long as the person holding the key is alive. If used on an immortal, the spell can last for eternity.

(2) Shadow Drive- The user wraps the enemy in an orb made of shadows and makes it detonate like a bomb

(4) Death's Pillar- Can summon a beam of light that can destroy everything in its path.

(5) Shadow Alpha- Using Levy, Kurai blasts a wave of concentrated dark energy that detonates on contact.

(7) Wrath of the Seven Sins- Kurai unleashes a wave of black flames that spreads around the area and wipes our everyone caught in it. It is said that it can a wipe a person's very existence.

Expert Hand to Hand Combat- Kurai is proficient in several forms of unarmed combat

Demon of the Black Dragon:

In "Demon of the Black Dragon," He normally wears the Kuoh Academy boy's uniform. Later on he develops a pair of canines after becoming a Dragon Slayer.

Personality: In Demon of the Black Dragon, he doesn't know much about his former life, and is wrapped around in mystery. Despite that, he has a somewhat easy-going expression, even after finding out he was turned into a Devil. He is immensely insecure and thinks of himself as weak, and originally did not like to be around anyone fearing he would just end up getting them killed. He is incredibly loyal to Rias, referring to her with the honorific -sama, as well as Akeno and believes them to be the strongest. Around women, he has a tendency to get flustered and shy when they're willing to expose themselves, and usually tries to get them to cover up. He has a conflicting relationship with the Dragon that lives inside his Sacred Gear named Torafusa. The two of them bicker like brothers. But despite that, they usually find a common ground and agree on certain things. A running gag is that everyone around him refers to him as an emo, because of the way his hair covers his right eye, something which irritates him.

After learning Dragon Slayer Magic, he gains more self confidence and a bit of arrogance. In Dragon Force, it is stated that he becomes calm and almost emotionless. After the fight with Kokabiel and meeting Azazel, Kurai gains a bit of a sadistic and cruel nature towards anything to do with Fallen Angels, after fighting an Assassin who revealed themselves as one of them, Kurai mercilessly pushed him in front of an oncoming train and gave a small smirk watching him die. It is hinted that Deveen is influencing his hatred for his own benefit.

Although willing to kill to protect his friends, Kurai has an extreme distaste for needlessly killing lives and possesses a strong sense of right and wrong. Despite his moral compass, it clouds Kurai's view of himself, and at times is willing to sacrifice his own life for others, disregarding what his friends would think in the aftermath of it. After hearing how all of the Black Dragon's wielders grew power hungry and ruthless, Kurai resolved to change fate and become a Black Dragon who helps people and doesn't carelessly waste lives.

History: Not much is known about Kurai's past. Other than at some point in his life, he met and befriended Kiria Konime. Kurai and Kiria were incredibly close since they were kids, as their families were interconnected. At some point, they promised each other they would get married when they were older. However, Kiria suffered a terrible illness and she didn't have long to live. Since then, Kurai visited her everyday and spent all his time there to where he neglected his friends and family. At some point, Kurai brought her the Gremory slip and she asked Rias to keep him happy.

Powers and Abilities:

Reshape Will: Kurai possesses one of the thirteen Longinus, the Matter Shifter, that takes the form of a black scaled gauntlet that covers his entire right arm. He can completely switch the properties of matter. He can turn liquids into gas, gas into solids, and solids into liquid. Later on it is revealed that the dragon who lives inside of his Sacred Gear had sealed its true powers because it has proven to be highly dangerous and has been known to corrupt the wielders. The Reshape Will has the ability to control and distort everything and everyone around Kurai's line of sight to where he can make anything he can think of happen, to where he gains nigh-omnipotent abilities. It is said that if used right, Kurai can destroy and reform the world to his image.

Irregular Promotion: During the fight against Draco, Kurai's Evil Pieces evolved into Mutations after his sacred gear increased his demonic power to fatal levels in order to adjust, in such granting him irregular abilities as a pawn. The first being that he can use all four promotions at once by dividing throughout his eight pieces (for example, he could use 3 rooks, 3 knights, 1 bishop, and 1 queen). He can also use the power of each of his eight pieces rather than all at once. Each piece is worth eight regular pawn pieces, giving him the strength of 64 pawns.

Grimoire's Legacy: It is later revealed that Kurai possesses a power that once belonged to the original Devil Satan. It is capable of turning Kurai's anger into a destructive energy that destroys everything and anything in its path. Torafusa also reveals that he is channeling his power through Kurai's Sacred Gear, because of the fact that the magic is capable of destroying even Kurai himself if used recklessly. Right now, Kurai only suffers nausea and nosebleeds when he overuses it. After training with Akeno, Kurai has some control of his power to the point where he can make whatever he destroys completely disappear, or what she calls "erasing its very existence."

Dragon Slayer Magic: With the help of Torafusa, Kurai gains the power to use Black Dragon Slayer magic. Something of which later earns him the epithet "The Black Dragon" and makes him famous throughout the Underworld. Originally, he uses darkness as his form of slaying offense and was capable of eating darkness. But after eating Raiser Phoenix's flames and Siris' sword, both had fused with his Dragon Slayer Magic, he becomes capable of using pitch black iron, and black flames, the latter of which he uses as his main offense. It also allows him to eat other flames and iron that are not his. While utilizing his magic, his hands turn into black lizard like claws, and his hair turns black, the latter is on occasion.

As a dragon slayer, he later gains terrible motion sickness and can only ride on vehicles if Asia uses her Twilight Healing on him, or he takes a special medication made by Devils.

Ascalon: Kurai was given the Holy Sword known as the "Dragon Slayer" by Michael of the Archangels. Despite lacking knowledge in swordsmanship, Kurai possesses some skill in using it despite not having any formal training. The sword responds to Kurai and channels his Dragon Slayer and Grimoire magic through its blade, turning pitch black in color wit a red aura. Kurai also placed a shard of the Excalibur, granting it access to all of its abilities, all except Excalibur Ruler. The sword also takes on different shapes depending on Kurai's emotions, only two have been seen. It's basic form is that of a pitch black katana. When in Balance Breaker or when he is driven to extreme anger, the blade grows in size and mass, becoming as large and heavy as half of a car. The two staffs on the hilt makes it resemble a Zweihander. Despite its immense size, Kurai comments how it is lighter than wielding a dagger, yet drains more of his stamina.

Yuki: Kurai's familiar, a Greenie which takes the form of a little plant like creature with flower like eyes. Because Kurai is unable to tell the gender, he calls it Yuki and calls it a "he" until he can find the gender. Yuki is able to manipulate plant life and can grow plants in barren places such as deserts or even from concrete. He is protective of Kurai and likes to dangle on his hair, showing signs of affection and how close the two are.

Balance Breaker(s)

Cursed Dragon Scale Mail: Kurai's first Balance Breaker. It takes the form of a pitch black armor with a pair of wings, and several red jewels on a majority of it. It drastically enhances Kurai's physical abilities, allowing him to wield his sword's "Buster Mode" with ease. He can also move at speeds faster than Vali to where he was able to appear behind him almost like teleportation. Kurai can create shock waves through simple swings of his sword. Kurai claims that at his current state, he could only maintain his armor for no more than an hour before needing a day or two for rest.

Spells:

Black Dragon Roar- By swelling up his cheeks, Kurai releases an intense tornado of darkness (Later turns to black flames) It is powerful enough to take out Raiser's rook in one hit.

Black Drive- By sacrificing his right eye to Torafusa, Kurai's magic power, speed, strength, and endurance increases drastically to where he could his own against Raiser Phenex for five whole minutes

Black Dragon Spiral Claw- Kurai spins upside down in the air and kicks his enemy with both of his feet wrapped in Dragon Slayer Magic. It is later shown to be one of his favorite melee techniques

Black Dragon Piercing Scales

Black Dragon Twin Jaws- Kurai unleashes two snake like beings made of his magic that he sends to lash at his targets

Black Dragon Splitting Axe- Kurai hits the opponent from above by joining both of his hands in a fist and smashing them on top of someone's head
Black Dragon Slash- Kurai covers his fist in his magic and punches the target

Black Dragon Pillar Eruption- A wave of darkness erupts from the ground and attacks the target from under them

Black Dragon Crushing Fang- Kurai attacks the target from above and smashes their head into the ground.

Black Dragon Hammerhead- Kurai covers himself in Dragon Slayer Magic and head butts his target

Iron Black Dragon Sword- Kurai can turn his arms and legs into pitch black, jagged swords that he uses to attack his opponents

Black Dragon Waxwing Flash- Kurai holds his arms back and claps his hands while they are covered in his magic, creating a powerful shockwave strong enough to destroy Kokabiel's throne in one hit

Black Dragon Flash Blossom- Utilizing the blades on his arm and the speed of Dragon Force, Kurai sends multiple slashes towards his opponent's chest while walking past him. It's been commented that it looks as if he's barely moved.

Black Dragon Infinite One Sword- A spell similar to Kurai's Flash Blossom, only it utilizes the ability to slash several times in what looks like one seeming slash. Kurai had used this to sever Kokabiel's ten wings without looking like he barely moved.

Advanced Spells:

Soul Eraser- Kurai releases a ball of dark energy that creates a concentrated explosion that sends an immense shockwave when unleashed.

Seven God Pillar- By absorbing Kiba's Sword Birth, he can summon seven giant swords that can impale multiple opponents from the ground.

Wrath of the Seven Sins: Kurai summons seven magic circles that circles the target and uleashes black flames to severely injure them. It was powerful enough to defeat Raiser Phenex in one hit

Grimoire Dragon Typhoon- By fusing his Dragon Slayer Magic and Grimoire's Legacy, he can create a destructive wave that can take out anything it hits. To use it, he chants:

"The Devil sleeps in my left, and the Dragon sits on my right. Together they make a force that kills both God, Devil, and Dragon"

Master Hand to Hand Combat- Kurai later on becomes proficient in several forms of unarmed combat in order to utilize Dragon Slayer Magic

Immortality- It is later revealed during the fight with Kokabiel that he gained the Phoenixe's Regenerative power after absorbing Raiser's flames. This was proven as he survived one of Kokabiel's more powerful attacks claimed to have killed one of the Devil Kings in the past. However as a Devil, he is still vulnerable to light based attacks and Holy Swords. Injuries inflicted by the two can take a while, leaving him vulnerable.

-Dragon Force: After eating the fused Excalibur, Kurai gains the ability to attain Dragon Force. His speed and power increases dramatically to where Sirzech comments that he could rival even one of the Four Great Satans. After infusing a Black Dragon Lacrima in his body, he is able to attain Dragon Force by will alone.

-Dragon Transformation: It is said that if Kurai uses too much of his Dragon Slayer Magic, he will one day turn into an actual dragon. Whether this is true or not is unknown.

Personality: He is seen as kind and charming, being the schools pretty boy. Ironically, he is incredibly shy around immodest women, and act flustered when they become naked in his presence. The severity heightens to where he develops an irritating rash when touching a woman while embarrassed. He is incredibly loyal of Shinigami and thinks highly of him as well as respects him.

Soul Creation: He possesses the power to create objects and even living creatures from that of his soul wavelength.

Soul Pierce: Can blast his soul wavelength to cause internal damage

Master Hand to Hand Combat- Kurai is seen proficient in several forms of combat from intense training over the years.

Short Sword's Meister: Through the use of Kimi, Kurai is capable of close quarters combat.

Relationships:

Kiria Konime: Kiria is Kurai's main love interest and he cares deeply about her. When they had first met, she fell in love with him after he helped her out, and grew to care about him. Kurai at first was distrustful of her because he believed her to be a killer, only to end up ashamed and regretful after her death finding out she wasn't responsible. After bringing her back, she made a bold move and that is what started their relationship. Even after finding out the opposition of their races, they still wanted to be together. Kiria supports Kurai and is usually the one who can successfully calm him down when he finds himself angry. When she found out that her family was involved with the Angel Purifier's, she decided to stay by his side, rather than join them. At one point, Kurai declared his love for her and the two ended up making love that same night. Kiria can become extremely jealous when Kurai is seen with another girl and her anger is said to frighten him. Kiria has a habit of making up baby names for him that is capable of making him throw up. She often day dreams of having a beautiful family with him and is normally seen blushing when close to him. After his death by her hands, she was shocked and horrified, and was determined to end his nightmare. In the Demon Chronicles, Kiria becomes more bold and dreams of rekindling her non-existent relationship with Kurai. She still lives in horror of what happened and had had trouble looking at her family the same, despite the events never happening. At first, she was seen to be extremely jealous and fabricated relationships revolving Kurai and Kimi, who were incredibly close. After finding out Erika's crush on her, she considers Erika her greatest love rival.

Tsukune Aono: Kurai and Tsukune have a good relationship and consider one another best friends. Kurai often likes to tease Tsukune about his relationship problems and both share a fear of Moka's wrath. After Tsukune became a Demon, Kurai considered them "blood brothers" and often joked about it. Because of Kiria's wish, Kurai and Tsukune no longer know each other and moved on with their lives.

Moka Akashiya (Outer): The both of them share a friendly relationship and care about one another. Kurai protects her when Tsukune passed and thinks of her as something of a sister. Because of Kiria's wish, Kurai and Moka no longer know each other and moved on with their lives.

Moka Akashiya (Inner): Kurai both fears her cold personality, and respects her strength. The two often team up against different opponents. Because of Kiria's wish, Kurai and Moka no longer know each other and moved on with their lives.

Kurumu Kurono: The two share a somewhat conflicting friendship. Where they somewhat care about each other, and other times they can't stand each other. Regardless, Kurai was visibly sad after her death. Because of Kiria's wish, Kurai and Kurumu no longer know each other and moved on with their lives.

Mizore Shirayuki: The two share a frenemy relationship, as one controls ice while the latter controls fire. However, Kurai was visibly sad after her death and looks to her when he needs information, or help spying on someone. Because of Kiria's wish, Kurai and Mizore no longer know each other and moved on with their lives.

Yukari Sendo: The two share a friendly relationship and care about one another. Kurai refers to her as "little soldier" and respects her determination. Because of Kiria's wish, Kurai and Yukari no longer know each other and moved on with their lives.

Ruby Toujo: The two care about one another and respects each other's strengths. Kurai was the one who saved her life and helped her come to terms with her master's ordeals. In return, Ruby saved his life during the battle with Kuyou. After her death at the hands of Kokoa, Kurai was visibly sad hearing she died. Because of Kiria's wish, Kurai and Ruby no longer know each other and moved on with their lives.

Ginei Morioka: The two share somewhat of a rivalry. Kurai finds his perverted habits annoying, while the latter gets pissed when his perverted schemes are disrupted by him. Still, Kurai refers to him as a good leader. Because of Kiria's wish, Kurai and Ginei no longer know each other and moved on with their lives.

Kokoa Shuzen: The two share an intense rivalry and despise one another. However, the two are seen working together and both share a mutual love of weapons, and a mutual hatred for Nagi Konime after suffering a loss by his hands. Because of Kiria's wish, Kurai and Kokoa no longer know each other and moved on with their lives.

Demon Chronicles:

Kimi Saya: The two have known each other since they were kids and care about each other immensely. They both share a friendly relationship and often tease each other about their relationships. Making up two of three Demon Kings. Kimi cares about Kurai and usually scolds him when he puts himself in danger, showing how close they are. Kimi has no problem exposing her body to him and normally flirts with him on a regular occasion. Later on, she develops feelings for him and wishes to become his second wife, even if he's married to Kiria.

Yoruno Akumu: Making up two of the three Demon Kings, the two share a friendly relationship and look out for one another. Kurai respects Yoruno's strength and usually goes to him when things go awry. However, he finds Yoruno's book obsession annoying and usually yells at him for it. Secretly, Kurai fears Yoruno for reasons that are unknown.

Calin Ushami: The both of them originally hated each other and were considered intense rivals. Even when they were kids, they bickered and fought with each other over trivial matters. After showing him the error of his ways, the both of them rekindled their friendship and usually refer to each other as nii-san or "big bro." After Kurai was put in intense care, Calin swore vengeance, promising to tear the one responsible limb from limb.

Erika Ushami: At first, the two did not know each other as much and were considered enemies. After the events of the Festival Arc and Satan's banishment, Erika fell in love with Kurai and wants to drive him and Kiria apart. Kurai cares for her and wishes for her happiness.

Souji Minamoto- Kurai trusts Souji and the two share a friendly relationship. Kurai respects his strength and acknowledges his intuitiveness, making him second in command if anything were to happen to him. The two share a good senpai/kouhai relationship and Kurai thinks of Souji as a good leader. Other times, he likes to tease him about his crush on Mizuko. It is later revealed that Souji knows more of Kurai's secrets than both Yoruno and Kimi.

Kayna Misuta- Kurai and Kayna share a friendly relationship and Kurai respects Kayna's abilities, making him a member of his "elite" group. He finds his pervertedness annoying, yet still lets him do what he does, claiming "He is a man after all". Kurai believes Kayna to be the perfect spy and looks to him for recon information.

Mizuko Nagisa- Kurai thinks highly of Mizuko and considers her a prodigy of magic despite her scatterbrained nature. Mizuko cares for Kurai and was saddened to see him near death, promising to make the person responsible pay.

Nariko Saeko- The two share a good relationship. Nariko respects Kurai the most believing him to be the strongest and often praises him for it, referring to him with -sama. Something of which that annoys him. Kurai cares for her and thinks of her to be a saint. It is stated that Kurai trusts her with his life the most.

Leonardo- The two share a friendship/rivalry/mutual hatred for each other. They both usually butt heads when one contradicts the other and is annoyed by each other. Kurai finds Leonardo's constant smiling creepy and is usually weirded out by him.

Mikako Nakasuki- Since childhood, the two have been friends and cared about one another. Despite her role as an Exorcist, Mikako loves Kurai and openly claims and boasts about being his fiancee, something that generally annoys him.

Ruruko Himeragi- Despite being in the same club, Kurai and Ruruko both share a mutual dislike to one another and generally do not get along. The reasons for this is currently unknown.

Family:

Levy Kage: Levy is Kurai's little sister/weapon partner and the two equally care about and love each other immensely. She is almost always seen at his side, and thinks of Kurai like her big brother (onii-chan) despite them not actually being blood related, giggling and laughing whenever Kurai pats or ruffles her hair. Kurai protects Levy, as when he shielded her from Satan's energy blasts despite the amount of damage he recieved from the attack. When asked what Levy was to him, Kurai spatted back in anger that Levy was his "precious little sister," and that he would never abandon her. The two share a room and a tatami mat, and she's usually seen resting on Kurai's head when in her human form, and Kurai stated that he never likes to use any other weapon. Aside from this, Levy likes to tease Kurai, commenting on how he likes big breasted girls.

Lucifer Kage- Kurai respects his father's position as Lucifer and aims to be like him, referring to him as honorable father. He even styled his hair to reflect his father, showing how close the two are as father/son. Despite not openly rooting for him during the Kishin Royale, Kurai knew that he was rooting for him deep down. Lucifer respects Kurai and shows faith in his abilities as a Devil Slayer, claiming that he along with his family are his true pride.

Katsumi Kage- Kurai and Katsumi share a mother/son relationship and the two care and love each other. Like most people, Kurai fears his mother as she is known for her show of punishment when he does the wrong thing.

Miko Kage- The both of them share a sibling rivalry/bond. Miko shows some display of care for her brother, relieved when he survived and defeated Satan.

Muffy- Not much is known about their relationship. But it is possible Kurai cares for her like a pet.

Kami Kage- Kurai cares for her very much and she was the sole reason of his depression after her death. Something that left a mental scar and what distanced him from others. At the sight of her corpse, he succumbed to the darkness and went insane to avenge her. She cares for his safety and was worried when he went to fight Satan, and was seen tearing with joy when he won.

Ayami Kage- Kurai and Ayami share a brother/sister relationship. Kurai thinks that she goes overboard with her position as student council president and thinks of her as a hardass.

Demon of the Black Dragon:

Kiria Konime: Kiria loves Kurai dearly and was happy that he came to visit her when she was in the hospital. Later on when it was revealed she was alive, Kiria told him that she asked to die because she couldn't stand seeing Kurai waste his life for her, unaware that her actions got him to resort to suicide, the reason for it was so that he could be with her again. It is because of that, she feels guilty about her "selfish wish" to which Kurai reprimands her for. Kurai thanked her for giving him the current life he is living and even comments that it is even better since she's still in his life. Kiria loves Kurai greatly and claims that he is the first and only man she ever wants to be with. She was visibly shocked when she believed he had died from Kokabiel's attack, sobbing and even lashing out in anger to avenge him, displaying how much she cares for him. Kurai also harbors immense feelings for her, despite being slightly annoyed by her over upbeat attitude. He also has faith in her abilities, asking her if she would be his queen after he became a high ranked, the latter, despite not giving him a direct answer blushed and said even if she didn't she would love to be his wife regardless.

Rias Gremory- Rias is Kurai's master and King. Kurai respects her, referring to her with the honorific -sama, while at the same time wanting to keep a respectable distance. After a while, he calls her by her first name showing how close the two have become. He cares about her and wishes to make her proud of him. As the story progresses, Rias ends up falling in love with him after he stopped her engagement with Raiser. Infatuated seeing his determination and strength, Rias claims Kurai as hers and doesn't allow others to try to one up her (with the exception of Asia). Kurai on the other hand cares for her as both his master, and as a young girl, returning her feelings and later confirming that he too loves her, while at the same time carrying and returning the feelings of all the other girls.

Akeno Himejima- At first, two shared a typical a senpai/junior relationship. Kurai respects Akeno thinking of her as strong and refers to her with -sama. After the fight with Kokabiel, she started referring to him with the honorific -chan, while he refers to her without honorifics, symbolizing how close the two have gotten. Akeno later on falls in love with Kurai after the latter accepted her Fallen Angel heritage despite his immense hatred for them, claiming that despite being something he hates, doesn't mean she is like them. She takes up any opportunity to seduce him when the moment presents itself, with Kurai retaliating back and sometimes taking the incentive. Kurai is attracted and can be mesmerized with Akeno's beauty.

Yuuto Kiba- The two share a friendly relationship and think highly of one another, later on developing a deep friendship and supporting each other. Kurai showed annoyance of how Kiba's hatred of Excalibur clouded his judgment, only because he had put both him and Koneko in danger at the time. In truth, he showed worried and went out of his way to help him overcome his hatred. Later on they develop a rivalry with each other, making a promise that one day they plan to fight to their utmost potential.

Asia Argento- Kurai cares for Asia and thinks of her as an extremely kind person. After her death, Kurai was able to fully unleash and temporarily control his Grimoire's Legacy as a result of his sadness and anger. After her resurrection, Kurai aims to protect her. The latter grows immense feelings and prays that she wants to be with him forever. Kurai still feels guilt over what had happened and tried to keep his distance so that she wouldn't have to die because of him. Deep down, Kurai cares for her and openly claims he loves her, expressing his wish to be with her and take her as his wife for the rest of his life.

Koneko Toujo- The two share a somewhat friendly relationship. Both being in the same club and peerage, they look out for one another. Koneko occasionally comments on his reckless and impulsive, one tracked mind, referring to him as an idiot whenever he does something stupid. Regardless, she still went along with his plan to help Kiba without hesitation. Kurai cares for her but at the same time fears her strength sided with her cold personality.

Xenovia- Initially, Kurai and Xenovia had a hostile relatinship during her time as a human. After their initial fight, Xenovia was more lenient to accepting his help, and was fascinated by his power. After she was turned into a Devil, their initial relationship dissipated, and they have shown to get along. Xenovia wishes to bear his children, while Kurai occasionally refers to her as dense.

Yuuma/Raynare- As Yuuma, Kurai thought of her as his girlfriend and cared about her, referring to her as cute. Later on, Kurai learned to hate Raynare because of her lies and wicked nature. Kurai was the one who ultimately decided her fate and allowed her to die. While her feathers were raining down, Kurai looked down and muttered a goodbye to her alias "Yuuma" hinting some form of regret and lingering attachment towards her alter ego.

Torafusa- The both of them share an interesting relationship, much like brothers where they bicker and argue. At first, Kurai referred to him as stupid and useless. But later on grows to respect him finding out that he was protecting him by channeling his Grimoire's Legacy. It is later revealed that Torafusa refers to Kurai as "the only true friend he's ever had" and aims to protect him at all costs. Kurai, despite sometimes being appalled by his dragon's personality, displays immense trust in him, usually looking to him for advice in battle and takes into accounts his warnings, and sees him as rather an extension of himself rather than simply a tool. The two occasionally poke fun at each other and have a bond that is viewed as abnormal between that of a person and their sacred gear spirit. In battle, Torafusa only thinks about Kurai's safety and assesses the situation as long as the end result is Kurai staying alive.

Raiser- Kurai is antagonistic towards Kurai at their first encounter. Both of them hold a deep grudge against one another. Sometime later, both their hatred have subsided and they formed somewhat of an intense rivalry and despite no longer feeling hatred, like to go all out in fights as if they want to kill each other.

Ravel

Sirzechs- Being a Devil King, Kurai holds deep respect for Sirzechs. The latter finds Kurai amusing and is interested in his compatability with dragons.

Grayfia- Kurai holds deep respect for Grayfia when the latter gave him the chance to break Rias's engagement

Saji- The two share a rivalry over who is the stronger pawn. Despite that, Saji was willing to help Kurai after the latter forced him against his will.

Sona- Kurai highly respects Sona as a senior, and a High class Devil. Sona, while finding him amusing, comments on his inhuman strength with slight fear of his abilities, referring to him as a monster.

Azazel- Being a Fallen Angel, Kurai holds deep hatred for Azazel and aims to kill him. The latter is interested in Kurai's sacred gear and usually messes with him mentally. After he saved Kurai from Vali, Kurai is conflicted on whether or not he truly hates him.

Vali- Kurai holds a deep grudge and borderline hatred against Vali for being a White Dragon Emperor, planning to avenge Torafusa's friend. His grudge turned into seething hatred when he offered to kill his family and friends in an attempt to force him in his Balance Breaker. Just as Kurai was about to kill him, he was stopped and Vali disappeared before he could finish it. Kurai's aim is to take Vali's head at all costs.

Kokabiel- When Kurai first met Kokabiel, the two fought and introduced themselves whilst in the midst of it all. Kokabiel gained an interest in Kurai's abilities and existence, even to the point of offering the latter to join forces with him; offering to make him a general of his own army of Dragons. Azazel states that Kokabiel was only interested in his power and nothing more, willing to get rid of all his emotions and killing him without hesitation once he was of no more use. On the other hand, Kurai feels nothing more than utter disgust when confronting Kokabiel. After realizing his inability to take the lives of even his enemies, he nearly takes Kurai's life with no remorse, displaying a new lack of care for him.

Deveen- Although Kurai has never met him, Deveen holds a grudge against Kurai for reasons unknown and wishes to destroy him
