Author has written 11 stories for Harry Potter, Starship, and Doctor Who. Hi everyone! Peacful Sunrise here. I didn't discover Fanfiction.net until a few years ago, while waiting for Inheritance to come out, but I fell in love with it instantly! As of yet, I have eleven stories, not counting the one I am cowriting with Starkidtheatregeek, which can be found on her profile, with more to come as my muse allows. About Me: Reading, writing, stories and music are my great passions. Most of the things I like fall under one or more of these categories. My favourite book series ever is Harry Potter, my favourite TV show is Doctor Who, and my favourite movie is Lord of the Rings. I enjoy both classical, modern, instrumental and lyrical music, ranging from composers such as Bach and Kabalevsky to Murray Gold, and all sorts of different music, with a penchant towards musicals. I play both the piano and the trumpet, and am hoping to start voice lessons sometime. Story Policies I do not read, write, or like slash, however, I realize there are people out there who do. Please, if you are recommending a certain pairing, or fic, and it is slash, do not be offended if I do not listen, or read the story. It's just something I do not do, but I will respect your opinions on the matter, even if I disagree. I generally will not use reader suggestions for story plot in my stories. Constructive criticism is welcome, but for anything regarding the plot, I apologize, but unless it is a SYOC story (which I may consider doing in the future), or I have not finished writing it, your suggestions, though welcome, will probably not be used. Please do not be offended. As all authors are inspired by others, so my stories are usually influenced by others I have read. I will try to make them as different as possible, however, if you think one of my stories is too close to something you have read before, or published, PM me, and I will investigate, and depending on the circumstances, either alter my story, or remove it altogether. I take plagiarism very seriously. The same goes vice versa. I do not mind if you read one of my stories, and use the idea, but please do keep it original. I have seen "authors" publish the exact same, word for word story, of someone else's. If it comes to my attention that my story has been plagiarized by you, or someone else, I will report you. While I enjoy reading crack fics and humour fics as much as the next person, my favourites are the rare stories that are realistic all the way through. I mean realistic in that there aren't any completely perfect or completely liked characters, any clichéd villains who plot desperate generic schemes and vow bloody revenge on the main character by harming those he loves, characters who know everything right away, exactly what's going to happen and can come up with a stunning plan to defeat the enemy, or clichéd characters, such as the all powerful, wise, generous, clever, merciful hero who's also really lonely and compensates for this by gathering about fifty other characters around him as his "close friends" or the kindly, gentle, trustworthy figure who's always there to selflessly listen to everyone's problems, etc. I like to see actual realistic reactions to realistic circumstances, characters who don't act all OOC (unless the reason why is explained in a logical explanation that makes sense and could be believable), real and honest feelings instead of the "I love you all, even though I've never spoken 10 words to some of you, but my best friend's sister's gardener's aunt's grandpa sends you a Christmas card each year" or the "Because you talked with so and so who's a friend of so and so, who's so and so's cousin, five times removed, and that person once sold my mortal enemy a pair of slippers, for five minutes last Wednesday, you deserve all of my hate and loathing and revenge". Whew, got confused just typing that. Point is, I like some gritty realism in stories. Maybe the main character doesn't get quite a happy ending. Maybe he doesn't end up with the person he likes. Maybe he has to really struggle and fight for everything. Maybe not all is right in the world. But that's ok. Because real life isn't always a fairy tale. I try to use a realistic take in general when writing my stories, exceptions being crack fics and older stories. Yes, this means my stories WILL be darker, and probably not have as much of a happy ending as others. But I try to keep things as realistic as possible, and that's the price to be paid. I tend to have a few favourite characters in each fandom (like most people), and in my stories, I naturally put them into greater prominence whenever possible. For example, in the Doctor Who stories I'm planning out, Ten, Sarah Jane, and Donna have larger roles than the other characters. When the fic is centered around them, that's not a problem, but sometimes, in fics where they're not the main character, I may struggle to keep their role smaller and more appropriate. If this happens, and you notice that one character in particular is getting more attention than is appropriate for the story, feel free to tell me, and I will see if I can fix it. As I said above, I do want to keep stuff as realistic as possible, even if it means my favourite characters have less of a role. Check out my tumblr for more info on my stories, or if you want to take a peek into my mind: Some Common Words That Are Helpful When Trying To Read FanFiction (for those of us not yet fluent in FanFictionese) 1. Canon- From the book, of the book, completely in line with the facts stated in the book. Often pairings. (Example: Ron/Hermione) Great Quotes It's like in the great stories, The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes you didn't want to know the end. Because how could the end be happy? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you. That meant something, even if you were too small to understand why. But I think I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going. Because they were holding on to something. The fact that there is some good in this world, and its worth fighting for. Sam Gamgee Anyone who says they have only one life to live must not know how to read a book. Author Unknown "Even the smallest person can change the course of the future." -- Galadriel, Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring "All we have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given to us." Gandalf, Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring "Deserves it! I daresay he does. Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Then do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends. I have not much hope that Gollum can be cured before he dies, but there is a chance of it. And he is bound up with the fate of the Ring. My heart tells me that he has some part to play yet, for good or ill, before the end; and when that comes, the pity of Bilbo may rule the fate of many - yours not least."- Gandalf (FOTR) "This may surprise people but it is the truth, in many many ways Hufflepuff is my favourite house. There comes a point in the final book where each house has the choice whether or not to rise to a certain challenge, the Slytherins for reasons understandable decide they’d rather not play. The Ravenclaws - some do, some decide they won’t. The Hufflepuffs, virtually to a person, decide to stay. As too do the Gryffindors. Now the Gryffindors comprise a lot of fool-hardy and show-offy people, that’s just the way it is - I’m a Gryffindor I’m allowed to say that. You know there’s bravery and there’s also show-boating, sometimes the two go together. The Hufflepuffs stayed for a different reason - they weren’t trying to show off, they weren’t being reckless, that’s the essence of Hufflepuff house. Now my eldest child, my daughter Jessica said something very profound to me not very many days ago, she said to me - and she by the way was not sorted into Hufflepuff house - she said to me, “I think we should all want to be Hufflepuffs.” I can only say to you that I would not be at all disappointed to be sorted into Hufflepuff house so I’m a little upset anyone does feel that way." - JK Rowling “I would say if you wanna be a performer or something, and you really believe that you wanna do it, it’s best to sort of go all in. Because if I didn’t have that crushing terrible feeling of not having any sort of back-up plan motivating me to really make this career as an actor or writer work… There are times where you wanna give up for sure. The odds are so stacked against you that you’re like, it would just be easier to give up. But when you’re ill-prepared for everything else in life, you just try to work harder to make the main track work. So, don’t have a back-up plan, that’s my advice.” - Brian Holden Those people who can be gracious, even while disappointed: those are true StarKids.” - Melissa Anelli “I still am a geek. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. I see no shame in having an unhealthy obsession with something.” - David Tennant “Oh no, David DEFINITELY isn’t a vegetarian. For such a skinny man, David will literally eat anything. If you ever want to find David Tennant he’s probably by the food table.” -Catherine Tate The Doctor: Installed in 1991.
