![]() Author has written 24 stories for Pokémon, Gossip Girl, Glee, Heathers, Bare, August Rush, Kimi no Na wa./君の名は., and Once on This Island. I'm very chatty, so feel free to PM me with any questions, beta inquiries, comments, constructive criticisms, suggestions for stories to read in my fandoms, and/or relevant requests. Or, you know, general good conversation. Name: Anjum. That's pronounced AWN-joom. Age: 24 Current project: Ghost Story. Pokémon. 15 chapters, 80K words posted so far. I started posting this story January 2017, when I had just marathoned through writing multiple chapters for this story and was tumbling towards the ending. I was about 27 chapters in of an estimated 36 chapters. It seemed safe to start posting so, with enthusiasm, I did. The momentum kept going. By March, I had 32 chapters and 162K words. The end was in sight. But over those two months or so, as I was sending chapters to my beta (the inimitable C'sMelody) we were realizing that the end was rushed. It didn't make sense and wasn't earned, especially for a story that had been building slowly. It was going to need a total overhaul if I wanted it to live up to its potential. So that March, I began thinking about what would need to change. It was great to identify some of the things could be improved, but it was also incredibly discouraging. I had to take 60K and press delete. I had to take a story that had been 32 chapters and start reworking it holistically from chapter 11. Meanwhile, I had already posted the first few chapters and promised regular updates. I had been one foot out the door with a nearly-finished story and suddenly had to go all in again when I'd never done major story edits before. But no story becomes abandoned on my watch! The story was improving, but reworking was slow and half-hearted for years. Then, fall 2018, as I was buckling under the weight of too many stories that I had committed to. I posted the most recent update for GS in September and was struggling with a lack of momentum and passion that I'd never recovered. I realized that I would only thrive if I worked on one story at a time. And I chose Zenith. I'm proud of it and I learned a lot about myself as a writer. And now that it's done Ghost Story is my #1 priority. That said, you won't see updates on it for hopefully no more than a few months. I want to have enough done that I can post without having to go on hiatus again. As of July 22, 2020, I am on chapter 24, 129K in. So, sorry for the essay (shouldn't I be writing the story rn?), but I wanted to let any curious readers know where I'm at. I have eight chapters loaded up for my beta to look at (hopefully she won't have too many critiques!) and the rest is becoming clearer every day. In the meantime, I'm posting oneshots for a new side series called Mistakes Were Made. Not to worry; the first few stories were written earlier in quarantine. Hopefully, it will keep you entertained until GS can start updating again. Cheers, and thanks for your patience. Ships: Pokémon: Ash/Misty, Drew/May, Tracey/Daisy, Red/Blue, Alain/Mairin, Grant/Viola, Gary/anyone, Dawn/anyone. Gossip Girl: Chuck/Blair, anyone/anyone. High School Musical: Troy/Gabriella, anyone/anyone. Glee: Rachel/Jesse. Gilmore Girls: Luke/Lorelai, Rory/Jess, Lane/Dave. Assume canon pairings for all other fandoms. Here is my tumblr: https:// letswritefanfiction . tumblr . com/ I repost some stuff from here on there, but I also post headcanons, answer questions, take short requests, do whatever. It's also a great place to contact me, even if it's just questions about when I'll update, and you can do so anonymously over there! I also want to create fandom-based content, reviewing stories and authors, making top 5 lists of recommendations, talking about these characters that I love so much. So if anyone's interested in that, come on over! The blog is 95% Pokémon, but I do occasionally post stuff for other fandoms, and if you read any of my non-Pokémon content, you're just as welcome to engage with me and request content over there as well! I guess I'll take a moment to talk about my stories. Published Works Pokémon Drabble Hour: Pokéshipping future-fic with children. The chapters are cute enough, but I don't like the plot anymore. White Christmas: Pokéshipping. Pretty cliché., but I reread it recently and it's not bad. Weather the Storm: Pokéshipping child OC MC. Other ships. Multi-chap. I don't think that it holds up anymore. AAML Alphabet Challenge: In this collection, you'll find a whole amalgam of PokéShipping stories. Some chapters are better than others, some more shippy, some less shippy, some very short and some quite long. Throughout this challenge I kept a side-challenge for myself of trying to include a variety of different styles, perspectives, voices, genres, tenses, etc, so you never know what you'll find! But there's something for everyone! Lost in Halloweenia!: Multi-chap Halloween-inspired tale, told in the style of the Pokémon anime. No ships, but plenty of shenanigans! I kinda love this one. Ghost Story: WIP, current project. AU multi-chap. Pokéshipping. This is an adventure-based Misty-centric story. I have put a lot of work into this story and while it isn't perfect, it is miles beyond WtS. Still on hiatus on-site, but not abandoned! It's not going to be my best ever, but it's going to be something, goddammit. Let Me Walk: Oneshot about Delia pre-canon. It's only okay, but I wanted to write it, so here it is. Pink Macarons: Serena and her gal-pals celebrate Valentine's day together. Nothing super special, just women supporting women. Zenith: My--very late--contribution to PokéShipping week 2018. A redo of the Kalos finale Team Flare incident but with more drama, stakes, and relationships, platonic and romantic. Also, Misty is there! Characters are aged up, Ash will remember that he had a life before Kalos, and lotsa stuff goes down, some the same as canon, some different. I know it's not a unique idea, but I'm proud of how it turned out! Mistakes Were Made: currently updating side-project. A collection of stories basically meant to call out the nonsense that occurs in the Pokémon fandom and canon. Hopefully it'll be comedic and informative about my thoughts about where the fandom has gone wrong. No particular ship and, as every chapter is a standalone, I'll likely mark it as complete after a few chapters are posted. Just posting these while I work in depth on GS behind the scenes. Inspired by Canon Rape by Bittersweet Romanticide. Gossip Girl Birthdays: Chair. I do like this one. I wrote most of this over a year before I published it and then I rediscovered it and finished it. Great Minds: Chair. Just Blair being funny and immature. First Christmas: Chair and Derena. Darena? Whatever. It's okay. Charles: Young NJBC oneshot. There were just too many things in GG that played out perfectly in this scenario, so I had to! Glee Out of My Dreams: St. Berry. Weird one. Don't recommend it. Just put it up because why not? Don't Stop Loving Me: St. Berry. Kinda. Loose song-fic for Red Ragtop by Tim McGraw. It has its painful clichés and some rough moments and, admittedly, the concept is OOC, but I kind of like the writing. August Rush Staccato: Unoriginal, but I still think it's good. Agitato: Not good. There's no story; just dialogue, really. But hey, it's a wanting fandom, so I figured I'd publish it for the heck of it. 君の名は/Kimi no Na Wa/Your Name Self-Medication: If you wanna read a days' long A/N, this is the story for it. It's an exploration into depression, mental illness, misdiagnosis, and medication, or what I think Mitsuha might have been up to the year before she met Taki. And a bit after. I think this is some of my best work. Heathers Only One Way to Find Out: No romance, which was new for me. Just some ghost!Heather Chandler fun with Veronica and...Martha? Winter Wonderland: Heathers. Series of festive (unrelated) oneshots for the holiday season. From the #DECFANFIC prompt challenge on tumblr. Hate: Veronica character study. Not my favorite genre, but I just had to! Bare What If?: Forever WIP. Yes, some are self-indulgent and ultimately character studies more than honest to goodness solid works of fiction, but who cares? This story is marked complete because the chapters are standalone, but that's not to say I won't continue to add to it! Once on this Island Not Yet: Just a playful piece about how the gods decide exactly who wins the bet between Erzulie and Papa Ge. This piece screamed out of my mind in 24 hours, so who knows how good it is! Unpublished Works Braided Chord (君の名は/Kimi no Na Wa/Your Name oneshot). A prologue of sorts, following three timelines. One is around the time of the previous comet 1,200 years ago, one is from Mayugoro's time, and one following the movie characters. This story explains the origin of the ritual the Miyamizu shrine maidens do and the body-switching abilities. Untitled (Pokémon multi-chap). A story (that I've put on pause as I focus on Ghost Story) about gameverse Red/Blue throughout the regions (so there'll be 7 chapters, one for each region (I started this before Galar existed) using their canon appearances in Kanto, Johto, and Alola, and filling in the rest. It'll be super gay, ya'll, and I'm hyped! I've never written for them before and it's exciting to hop into a different corner of this fandom. So far: 18K, 1 chapter. *facepalm* I know, it's too long. Communities I have a community that is filled with the best Pokéshipping stories that I have ever read that are complete. This means good writing, plot, pacing, character-development--the works. I don't know about you, but it irks me to no end when I start reading a story only to find that it's not finished, so I've put together this collection of stories that you can count on. The only one that is not completed on this site is Pokemon Master by Acey, but the last chapter is elsewhere on the internet. So, technically it is still finished, just not here. PM me if you can't find it and I'll do what I can to help. |
