Diana Ladris from Gone Diana taught me that I need to look out for myself, because I'm the only person who will always be there for me. Theme Song: Bitch by Meredith Brooks 2. Caine Soren from Gone Caine taught me that nothing can hold me down. I can be knocked down a peg, but I haven't truly been beaten until I admit defeat. Theme Song: Waiting for the End by Linkin Park Most Common Canon Errors in the Gone Fandom 1. Caine's eyes. They are brown. The majority of people who make this mistake think they're blue. I thought they were this fantasy blue/green color that isn't even a real eye color for a while. 2. Caine and Diana aren't dating before the series begins. As you read this you are probably being shocked. You probably also feel the need to grab the nearest copy of Gone and flip through every page to prove me wrong. Don't. I've been there, done that. You will not find the evidence you're looking for. 3. Diana's backstory. This is probably the most common canon flub. Even though other people's backstories get screwed up sometimes, Diana's is the most common simply because it's so complicated. In Gone: In Plague: 4. Diana's race. This one is completely and totally forgivable, since her race was never mentioned in the book. It was only in an interview that Michael Grant revealed that she was Hispanic. That boy you punched in the hall today? He committed suicide a few minutes ago. That girl you called a slut today? She's a virgin. The boy you called lame? He has to work every night to support his family. That girl you pushed down the stairs the other day? She's already being abused at home. That girl you called fat? She's starving herself. The old man you made fun of because of his ugly scars? He fought for our country. The boy you made fun of for crying? His mother is dying. You think you know them. Guess what? YOU DON'T.
