![]() Author has written 3 stories for Twilight. Despite my intentions to remain merely an observer on this account, I submitted some pieces, though I can't guarantee rapid updates (I'm married, 31, a philosophy and psychology nerd and musician, but no kids). What's Good, What's True [ON HIATUS] trivia (since the site gives such limited summary space): Canon couples, though it's obviously skewed a bit out of character. I had issues with Bella's character in the books, so... I'm tweaking things. This comes from a story idea (very vague concepts, really) that I've toyed with on and off for the past year, and instead of making it original, I decided I'd customize it to Twilight as sort of an experiment. The title is a lyric from of my favorite songs, but... it's depressing. Be warned. Carry Me Ohio - Sun Kil Moon. The song's content actually has... well, nothing to do with the story, but it's something I listen to when I write sometimes, and those words in particular stand out for me. The hiatus--I love this story, I love this Edward and Bella, but it needs some work, and I'm not in the same place emotionally now that I was when I started it. I won't put it down and have every intention of continuing; however, I may remove and repost when I've got things outlined a little more neatly and a lot of it cleaned up. Follow Me Inside-- Sex, drug use, and some rather dark moments of emotional self-torture. I think that sums it up pretty accurately. This piece was what I call, with some amusement, a sleeper success. It got some quiet recognition that I was not expecting quite a while after it was written. I have a lot of my own philosophical and moral issues with the characters in this one-shot, so I was really unsure I wanted to post it after it was written, but all the same, these are themes I know well, and they always tell you to write what you know, yeah? Anyway, it was first recommended probably close to a year back, maybe longer, on the Lazy Yet Discerning Ficster blog, and then just recently by Althea on Episode 8 of this great podcast called Fic Pushin' Podcast by a group that call themselves the Twific Pimps (www (dot) twificpimps (dot) com). I definitely recommend checking out this series. My little hint of trivia here: The title was also taken from lyrics, a song that I associate with this scene in a way I'm not sure I could explain... Watching Me Fall - The Cure. I think the song accurately delivers the mood I was trying to portray. Tantum-- A story influenced by friends and several musicians. Ultimately, it's about emotional intimacy, in the form of two people overcoming some pretty rough self-inflicted abuse. A little dark, but I think the light will outweigh it. I intend it to be a happy story, but the chapters I've written don't always come across that way. I think it'll be clear in the end, however. My writing is usually dramatic at points, but probably shameless sap throughout. Admittedly, I can never escape my philosophical nature. |
