Author has written 10 stories for Naruto, Harry Potter, and Ranma. Hi, if anyone's reading this it probably means I've left them a review they didn't agree with and their reaction was probably 'So what have you written that makes you such a critic?' That's fine, I personally would have that reaction to a bad review unless I looked at what they'd said and could honestly not disagree with them. I will admit I opened this account so that I could leave signed reviews for the stories I like, dislike or anything in between. Why signed reviews? Well that's rather easy to answer, and that is so that the author can contact me and ask questions, or abuse me as the case may be, lol. When I opened the account I would have said it was unlikely that I'd write my own stories but it seems I've proven myself wrong as I have to date started five stories on this site and have the first chapter for another six or seven stories waiting inspiration on my hard-drive. I'm an Aussie, I'm a bloke and I'm getting on in years. I also really like Fanfiction and the original works they are based off of but mainly fanfiction which is ever changing, or at least it should be. I admit that with several hundred thousand Harry Potter stories out there it's hard to come up with something completely original and believable but I don't think it's impossible. I don't know how many stories I've read to date with a shopping trip in them, I will say that it's so many that I can recite the items he'll buy in any story. Firstly he buys a top of the line traveling chest, though the features will differ in small regards such as whether there's a completely fitted apartment in there or just several large compartments that can be converted. Next on the list is numerous books since he spontaneously decides that knowledge is power. From here the lists diverge, he either goes for armour, or magical weapons that have features that make their wielder the next God of War and an unassailable warrior. Location is optional as well, he either visits Diagon or Knockturne Alley's or his family's vault where he finds everything an aspiring warrior for the light, or dark could possibly need. Oh and lets not forget the 'New' wand that the ministry of magic can't track Things I don't like:- I'm not a fan of Yaoi fiction, I don't see the need to turn a character into something that they're not, unless there really is the possibility that they might be. Take Orochimaru for example, he could either be gay, or a pedophile based on the way he acts. Naruto or Sasuke? Nope, I don't see it. It's not that I dislike gay people either, some of my better friends are gay and I've got no problems with meeting their significant others, acts of public affection such as hugging and kissing don't bother me, so go figure. I don't think my dislike of Yaoi has anything to do with the described acts, more to do with the fact that ninety percent of the fiction written about it is badly written, or they don't justify why a seemingly hetero character is suddenly locking lips with what you would normally define as their worst enemy or rival. I have to say that it's the same for all plot devices though, if it doesn't make sense to me then I'll probably stop reading it as inconsistency in a story makes my teeth itch. Another thing I dislike are authors who don't use a spell checker at the very least. Poor grammar makes the story harder to read and understand the intent of the author. Some of these I'll continue to read if I can see a good story idea beneath the surface but normally it's not worth the hassle Nuff said, since I doubt anyone will actually read this anyway. |
