![]() Author has written 15 stories for Dazzle, Prince of Tennis, Song of the Lioness, Ouran High School Host Club, Fruits Basket, Gakuen Alice, Fairy Tail, Naruto, Misc. Books, Covert Affairs, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, and Mediator. Salutations. It has been years since I've updated this profile. I'll let you know a little bit about myself. My college years are over--including a graduate degree. That means I have less time to write, and I have little patience for stories where every character acts like they are an ADHD 12 year old. I know some amazing 12-year-olds, but it's sad when I love a fandom, but can find few stories to read without feeling my mind decay. Sometimes I absolutely love the plot of a fic, but the writing style makes me want to cry. If I don't like your writing, I will keep reading if I can get past the style, if the story line is good enough. Or I will put the story down. No flames, ever, though I will rarely offer constructive criticism. For me, the average story I enjoy receives a "Follow" or sometimes, a "follow author" if you've multiple stories I consider excellent. I'm a bit lazy about reviewing. Please don't flame me, but if you do feel there is something that can be improved: friendly constructive criticism is welcomed. As a writer, I believe in balancing romance, adventure, and intellectual intrigue. This means that a fluff story will be short. It means an adventure story will not focus on the romance, but neither will it be a play-by-play kung-fu story. Many of my stories are female versions of male heroes. I believe in strong women. Often, the women in stories just don't catch my attention, make me wish I could be them. But the men? There are men I could love, there are boys whose strength I wish I could have. In those cases, a fem story is just what is needed to call out to my soul, and hopefully others' as well. However, I work full-time, have a home to manage and a husband to keep in line. I am not someone who can be expected to update frequently. Some of my stories may seem abandoned. I will let you know if I ever decide that I will not be going back to a story...I do still plan to finish my Harry Potter, Naruto and Percy Jackson stories. Don't expect it to happen fast, but do keep an eye out, as it will happen. I've finally figured out how to re-work my Naruto story and have a new conclusion outlined. That will probably be my first project to spend time on, as it's the one that has been waiting longest. You may ask: what sort of books do you like? Well, I enjoy Tamora Pierce and Robin McKinley. The Harry Potter books are good, but become too moody. My angst ridden teenage years weren't fun, and reading about another horribly moody teenager just makes me want to slap Harry upside down the head. I enjoy the Percy Jackson books (unfortunately, many of those fics are very poorly written, though some are amazing), most recently, along with Kady Cross' steampunk novels. L.E. Modesitt Jr writes excellent novels as well, though they capture the imagination less for fanfiction. Brandon Sanderson is also fantastic. Books that make for excellent fanfiction leave elements to the imagination, and create many thoughts of 'What if'. Someday I do plan on writing my own, original, novel. I imagine many people on this site have that dream. For me, I have the storyline, and I'm learning about politics and world creation. But for now, I practice (with less diligence than I ought). If you've read this, by any slim chance, I hope you have a better appreciation for my style, and can find the patience to wait for updates. Also: I've got to give props to Sakimichan for her amazing art. I take no credit for my profile picture--check out her work! http:/// Simplice |
